I was called this morning by my boss JP who said they had the new numbers in for how many unique hits the english GSI web site has recieved. we're at 1 million now and the number will probably keep rising even though the vods have already been ripped and put on youtube. this has gone above and beyond what i or gomtv had expected to recieve for our first english broadcast of a korean starcraft tournament. i would personally like to thank everyone who watched, i hope you enjoyed the event as much as i did. this clearly proves that SC is loved by more than just koreans.

Expect many more things like this in the future. Big things are comming. I'm not allowed to say anything more than that.

http://gsi.gomtv.com/

spread the news. i want even more hits.

One million hits for the web page, or one million unique viewers of their broadcasts? I think you mean web page, but I'm just checking. Keep up the good work

Oh, by the way, let us know when you have some VOD's of WC3 commentary, it'll be a good opportunity for me to learn more about it. And in case you didn't get the point from the legions of adoring fans (and I think I saw a marriage proposal), great casting, we're loving it

You said during the final that you got 500 000 unique stream ips right? And I guess at least half of those tuned in during the final, so a few 100k watching the final? And they said beforfe the tournament that the stream was made to support 40k watchers right? So not strange if the stream was choppy for some.

And again: very good cast tasteless!
Thanks!

great to hear~ awesome tournament since it was in english I actually tuned in after work and watched it all the time, I missed a few matches but got to see the vods the next day. Tasteless you did a great job commentating it considering you were by yourself.

Looking forward to the things to come.

Amazing cast tasteless. That being said, I hope that the gomtv forums start being moderated so that the liveblogging//forum updating that goes on here can be moved to be seen by gomtv.

Looking forward to the future games (and hopefully more streams to make sure that everyone can watch

It was an awesome event and the website made it really easy to watch games and know what was going on. The commentaries were really great and the players/ match-ups were all extremely entertaining. All in all I'm really glad that the gsi was such a huge success and I hope the korean progaming broadcasts will take advantage of the huge fanbase outside korea.

QFT.

Also, the quality of the stream made the event so much more enjoyable than other experiences with live streaming.

The only thing that wasn't awesome about the whole thing was the forum being overrun by spammers.

Gogo GSI, glad it was a great success~

hopefully they will hire another commentator for the next event.

not saying tasteless is bad (hell no) but he is kinda lonely and always having to talk throughout the whole game with no rest while the koreans have 3 commentators each taking turns :O

Stork is an amazing choke artist - and he will never be more despite his skill - and don't go around saying he deserved to win for losing only 1 or 2 games up until the final, he didn't have to take out Jaedong, as Flash did.

IMO Stork put up such a good fight just because he happens to have an amazing PvT , but anyway Flash's momentum was too freaking huge to stop - AND I DIDN'T EVEN MENTION HOW GAY THE MAPS WERE

I was rooting for Stork too, but it was so painful watching him go carriers over and over. In game 5, he was doing pretty well I thought, and then I saw him building stargates + fleet beacon and I was like "fuck, now he's gonna lose." I think Flash has shown pretty well by now that he can handle carriers. I mean it's okay to go carrier's on Katrina, but IMO Stork has pretty good unit control for big battles in PvP and PvT, and he usually comes out on top. I'm just disappointed Stork didn't go for a more standard Zeal/Goon strategy.

I didn't even know about this, so many more people have no idea as well I can imagine.

However the "play now" button doesn't do anything when I click on it. I have old GOM player... perhaps I need the latest.

If they want to promote next event then they should get banner on bn, it would be cheapest to reach audience that way.

50,000 would meet my expectations, 100,000 I'd be like wow it does have a lot of international appeal....a million? I can't help but think the only limit is how much more exposure they give it, that's just awesome, it was pleasent to watch the vods since I wasn't able to view the streams(living in England and don't have internet where I live, have to go to school for it.)

lovely. a number of ex-sc players have talked to me about this event. one way or another (probably mostly through word of mouth over the net) this event has reached a ton of people. can't wait to see what happens in the future. maybe osl/msl coverage with official english commentators?

Well worth waking up in the middle of the night to watch. Get yourself a co-commentator for the next one so you can go to the bathroom and wont have to struggle to find things to say during intermissions and it will be gold.

It isn't unique visitors and 23.8% of those people are Korean. Hm, they changed the Alexa website around a lot. I used to use it all the time to see where my websites stand with the competition. Doesn't look as informative anymore but 1 million hits is still pretty good ^_^

I'm just happy gomtv is really happy and that is the only thing that matters because that means more English commentary.

1 million unique IPs. Ignore Alexa, it's trash.

Usually about 200,000. The past month we had 500,000, thanks to that "Let me amaze you" chain mail.

I'd say it's probably around 200-500k due to dynamic IPs, though. Still an amazing feat!

Actually that's REALLY impressive. 1m unique IPs? Even with dynamic IPs that's pretty insane.

Where people go on Gomtv.com:

* gom.gomtv.com - 38%
* gsi.gomtv.com - 27%
* gomtv.com - 18%
* ch.gomtv.com - 8%

gsi.gomtv.com is the English site for the gomtv star invitational so...

Tasteless. You single handedly got me and others to watch professional Starcraft. I hadn't ever watched a VOD before the GSI, and honestly, I only originally tuned in to see Boxer play, but It soon got to the point where Monster has probably made a fortune off of me. I look forward to more commentary. I saw someone mention you should have a blog of what tournaments you are casting. I'd love to see more live commentary, so that sounds great to me.

GSI will release Diablo 3 for us.
Back on topic, let them host SuperFight (any grudge match special), or another strongest race war.

Thanks to GSI and Tasteless, my nub buddy started watching SC cuz its in English, and for your fabulous sense of humor.

Ok, so here's my question. How many more visits did Teamliquid.net get than usual during this? Also, how many new users? He mentioned us like 1000 times and there were links to threads everywhere.

More interestingly, did we get any more Koreans? Koreans spreading the word of TeamLiquid around various fansites and stuff would be cool.

How's the thing with getting TLPD translated to Korean anyway?

Can't really tell. In the past month we've had about 6000 visits from gsi.gomtv.com (out of 1 million total visits), and a few thousand from other sites and relevant google searches. So... at least a 1% increase!
