Welcome to Clan Art everyone!
Teamliquid.net is generally considered the best foreign sc-site, filled with mannered people that share a love for a great game. It would be natural for members of teamliquid to meet and play that game, but for some reason this is not happening as much as one would expect.
Clan Arts mission is to help teamliquidans find games with their fellows.
Clan Art is open for everyone, no matter how good or bad you are. This is not a school in the sence that priority is at improving our game, but rather a social thing to meet other posters on this board and have fun together. Increase in skill will come as a biproduct when you are having fun and playing.  I should also mention that Clan Art has been nominated "the most gm place for sc", or at least should have been if such an award existed. 
How to join
Go to the Clan Art forum and create an account.
Then post in the members list thread with your information, and you will soon be added to the list by one of the admins.
You are now a proud member of Clan Art!
How to find games
1) "op Clanart" on US-West server on battle net.
We are currently having some problems with a bot for the channel, but let's use that channel as a meeting place anyway, bot or not. When playing on battlenet, we really reccomend the brilliant program latency changer that allows you to play on battlenet with the latency of a LAN or even lower latency actually if you have superlow ping. Make sure to try it out, and show masterofChaos some love when you discover how awsome it is.
2) "Clan Art 1//liquid" at hamachi.
For those of you that dont know what hamachi is: it is a program that simulates a LAN over internet. For us, it allows us to play sc with lower latency, so yes, it is now viable to go mutas first in ZvT. Download it here. There is an issue with hamachi and starcraft, due to sc being from the stone age, but there are numerous work-arounds, for example this and this. Also just using an older version of hamachi should work. Check the two threads for more info. Read more about how we use hamachi in Clan Art in the first reply of this thread.
Tourneys
To help up activity, advertise ourselves and in general have a good time we organise tourneys every now and then. More serious tourneys, and more casual tourneys. Check this thread and the Art forums for information on when and where the tourneys are played.

How can I help Clan Art?
Yeah, this is one of these fake FAQs that noone has actually asked, but we provide the information anyway, pretending that people care.
You can help by spreading the word. Clan art is happy if there is much activity in the channel on bnet, or on the networks on hamachi, or both. So inform people about Clan Art, and be kind to them when they come, to make them come back. Everyone I've played through Clan Art has been extremely mannered, so just continue as you are doing.

op tl-west was created for the same purpose clanart. was created: a channel where tl.net people can go to get games. what bugs me, and this is not the first time i've pointed this out to numerous friends, is that if you log on to anything, be it msn, sc, hamachi, skype etc then BE AT THE FUCKING COMPUTER. if you're going to leave the computer then log the fuck off, exit battle.net or just switch your status to offline (since now nearly 90% of the people on msn are busy or away you dont know wtf ur supposed to do). its as if being loged onto these programs increases your bank account's interest rate by 10%
if im on something then im FUCKING ON. im not reading a book, im not in the toilet taking a shit, im not getting a blowjob, im there, conscious and receptive. i expect everyone else to be that way too so that i dont waste my fucking time sitting there waiting for you to be done with taking a shit, getting a blowjob etc. if you're busy, then just gtfo and come back later.
with that said i rarely go on op tl-west anymore since all the TL.net bigshots *not naming any names since its obvious* are there and all of them are in a coma. only on saturday nights US time when the channel reaches critical mass of around 25 or so THEN you can finally get a game or even a reply from anyone.
with that said. please. for the sake of those of us who ARE conscious and breathing, get the fuck out of the channel if you are going to be afk. its a fucking waste of -time- to be there going "1v1 anyone?" for 10 min only to realize that everyone is busy surfing 4chan's /b/. its plain annoying and rude.

liek zhang never replies. he has a minimum wait time of like 10 min so when i get home i get on msn msg him sc? then go do something and when i get back he starts to reply.

if idlers are really hurting the channel that much, then an anti-idle autokick on the bot would be the best solution. but i agree in thinking that the roles of tl-west and clan art are overlapping a bit. and even op newbleague overlaps them too. i'm not sure how tl-west is so empty and then there is so much interest for other things

Maybe have server//pass in OP since you're not checking your PM 24/7 and we hope to gain new members even when you are asleep.
Don't give yourself more work than you can handle. If you just manage to update the OP once a week with new hamachi servers for the coming year I'll be impressed!
I also think we should continue to discuss where we should meet to get games. Imo, we need something whith the following features:
1) ONLY used for getting games in bw, so all online users want to play.
2) When you are online and someone asks for a game, you should be notified, preferably by some sound or something, imediately. Even if the application is running in the background.
3) Possibility to chat 1on1, in selected groups, and a common chatroom for everyone online.
4) Supports many users online at the same time.
Is there a program that fulfills those requirements? Hama falls on 3 and 4, bnet fails at 2, adding people on MSN fails on 1... What other solution can we find? There MUST exist a better way of finding games!! ... I hope?

Well... I or someone could make a webpage with that runs some sort of live Java Chatroom, as well as forum.
IRC is sometimes a viable option as you can also use some scripts to integrate it with a web page.

yes I am hoping to find some equally-skilled players to practice BOs, timings, new strategies, w/e you want tonight. Let us rise from n00b to slightly-less-n00b.

I know a lot of people who like to play on ladders and based on their skill level and rank I would estimate my own capability to be around C+. I am perfectly aware that I have absolutely no proof to back up this claim, but I was asked for a rank and this is my estimate. It might be wrong or it might be right, but at any rate I'm definitely not basing my rank off of b.net standards.

If you are willing to take the time to do a page that meets those requirements, then that would be great! We could just post the link in the op, and everyone can find games at once.

this is a nice team.. idea wise and from what i've seen from several members that i've alrdy played, like Art.Tired and Aepplet and a few others, they're nice.
It will be great to get this team of community back together and active again, forming it's own gaming channel of relative gamers from one of the biggest BW atmospheres.

And I think we can expect high activity mainly on the weekends. So by friday it is important this thread is up in top 5 with an OP that allows people to go and find games straight away. I don't mind at all having many different places to meet now in the begining. (hama, op clanart., this chatpage...) We try them all out and it will eventually turn out which one is the most convenient for the most people. We will be beta-testing Clan Art for a few weeks.
Also, you should seriously put a spoiler on the members list.
I'm probably up for games tonight, around maybe 05.00-08.00 TL time. See you all then!

To log in, just provide your user name and press connect... It lags a few seconds but it will take you right to the channel after you press connect.
I don't think the previous one was working, I think it was creating a seperate chatroom for everyone lolz. This one should work much better and It appears to function much more like IRC.

I mostly use battle.net, so really I don't see the problem in not using hamachi, as long as you're actively looking for games.

atm it seems like we are testing 3 different ways of getting games, hamachi, op clanart. at west and this chatroom that modiva just set up. So without hamachi there should still be two ways to find games. Modivas chatroom is quoted in the OP.

Ok, so I've had a go at organising Hamachi servers.
There are 9 servers up:
Clan Art 1
Clan Art 2
.
.
.
Clan Art 9
All with password: liquid
Rules for these Servers.
1) Stay in the server ONLY when you want to play broodwar!
2) LEAVE the network when you're done playing. DONT just go offline.
just rightclick the server name and "leave network".
3) When you are about to enter a game, change your status to "busy". Change back when you've done playing.
Press the gear button down right --> preferences --> Precence --> enable, then use the paw button down right to change status.
4) NEVER stay in more than 3 (three) servers at once.
Otherwise everyone would just enter every server and we would still only have space for 20 persons... 3 servers should be more than enough to find a game considering that everyone online want to play. If all 9 servers gets filled up we'll just create more.
I'll kick everyone that I see offline. Except me.
I would leave the servers when offline to leave space for others, but the creator can't leave the server. :/
I don't want to make this a kickable offence just yet, but if you're mannered, you'll leave all networks except the one you'll play on when starting to play a (series of) game(s).
Do you guys think this set of rules will work out well? any opinions? Does the rules need tweaking?

Anyways, now that I figured out why I couldn't join the servers I have another question: How do you talk to people on the server? I'm completely new to the whole hamachi thing so... yeah. I dunno what the hell I'm doing on it yet.

You can also change the settings so that a double click opens up a message box. You can change the settings with one of the bottom right buttons, forgot which one though.

1 Owner
16 non preium users
256 premium users
So getting a premium licence will in practice grant you a place in servers that otherwsie would be full. Right now we are solving it by running several servers in parallel for the majority (all? ) non-premium users. I guess it cant hurt to repeat the servers again:
Art Server 1
Art Server 2
Art Server 3
PM equinox to register and get passwords for those.
Then also the public servers
Clan Art 1
Clan Art 2
.
.
.
Clan Art 9
All these have the public password liquid
Also see OP for guidelines on how you should behave on the servers. Main point is to "leave server" when you quit playing, not just go offline, to make space for other that want to play in the 16 non-premium slots.
Also: who wants to play?? Im on "Clan Art 1" and "Art Server 3"

I am. This wouldn't be a problem though if people LEAVED THE NETWORK instead of just going offline when they have finished playing.
Also, we have a total of 12 servers. Art Server 1-3 and Clan Art 1-9//liquid. All of them are not full.

Nobody is usually on the art servers, the clan servers is where everyone is at, at least from what I've seen.

We had our first official max out of 16 persons on the Clan Art 1 server.
While good news in terms of activity, it also means that:
It is important that you LEAVE the server, not only go offline, OR WORSE: IDLE!! :o
Failing to do so will potentially stop others from finding games, and you don't want that, do you? DO YOU??? Also try the Clan Art 2 if the first is full.

lol, it's not personal. Only that in version 1.0 of the tourney we had like 8 persons that said "i'll play!" and 2 or 3 actually turned up. So people that doesnt provide a %, i'll default them to 60%. No offence guys, I only want that estimate of people actually coming to be REASONABLY plausible.
I'll try to send PMs to the (potential) participants here on TL to remind them and keep them updated. 24 hours before the tourney will probably be enough time in advance. I mean, everyone checks TL every day, right?!!?

The tournament is finished after 3 hours and 50 minutes of playing, 14 participants and a total of 36 games played.
Winner is: NeaX
Neax took it home with an impressive 9-0 streak of victories, steamrolling the tournament. The SKT talent scout afterwards told media that they are considering NeaX as a ZvZ sniper in next seasons proleauge.

Which day is best, which time? Also: what week? wait for the urge to build up, or go asap while there is activity? OtherFor example what format you like on the tourney (double/single eliminiation, groups, etc) and other random observations. Also, if you are interested in organising: shout!
I think some events should be scheduled to pump the whole team liquid community up. Tournaments should be made more frequently especially if we get a lot of members. Pro league type tournaments such as having teams and going on a system based on the proleague should be interesting. I think the staff should grow and improve as well as the main clan art members. By Having good amount of tournaments and events I think the level of play will hugely increase which will be hep full to the TL community as a whole. Who knows, maybe TL can produce powerful starts to come. Clan art should be the place to start and it show grow and become better . As for timing, its a kind of weird problem because of the variety of users here. For example, I live in Bahrain which lies in the middle east and my timing is +3GMT. Its sometimes hard to find good corresponding times pleasing everyone. Thus, in order to get everyone to play and improve we should issue most tournaments to go on a slow pace rather than finishing the whole tournament in one day. Basic play happens daily, but tournaments should be mostly on Friday,Saturday, and Sunday because these r the weekends most people are free in. I have a bunch of Ideas and I cant really explain them here all at once. I would be glad to help as staff member giving new ideas and sorting stuff. I hope clan art flourishes and increases everyone level of star craft. :D

I have no idea how to set it up, I tried several bots (including StealthBot when haji recommended it to me) and they all fail for me
And I seriously want to try Listchecker for this; if we can get quality lag-free games on B.Net then I think it'll be easier to do LC than Hamachi -_-

It would be great to get activity going on bnet as well! Let's start with something easy and just set up a channel. I'd suggest a more intuitive channel name like "op Clan Art", but that isnt very important.
Pressure, could you contact those people and ask them to set it up? since you have the experience.
There is a lot of activity on the hamachi servers now, so it more important than ever that you
LEAVE the server when you are done playing! NOT go offline, or WORSE: idle while online
Just rightclick the servername and go "leave network". So DONT just quit the program.
You are helping yourself by doing that, since more people will enter the channel and you have abigger chance of finding good games next time around. Let me also copy down the other rules:
There are 9 servers up:
Clan Art 1
Clan Art 2

.
.
Clan Art 9
All with password: liquid
Rules for these Servers.
1) Stay in the server ONLY when you want to play broodwar!
2) LEAVE the network when you're done playing. DONT just go offline.
just rightclick the server name and "leave network".
3) When you are about to enter a game, let the other know that you're playing.
Change your status to custom: "playing" or something similar. You can turn that on by:
wheel button down right --> preferences --> precence --> enable
then paw down right --> custom --> type in your status
4) NEVER stay in more than 3 (three) servers at once.
Otherwise everyone would just enter every server and we would still only have space for 16 persons... 3 servers should be more than enough to find a game considering that everyone online want to play. If all 9 servers gets filled up we'll just create more.
I'll kick everyone that I see offline.
I don't want to make this a kickable offence just yet, but if you're mannered, you'll leave all networks except the one you'll play on when starting to play a (series of) game(s).

i kind of liked the idea of art people and only art people being in clanart since theres lots of random tl chatting and stuff going on in tl-west, it's easy to get confused or lose someone trying to set up a game or a random pick-up tourney

i dont know exactly how the bot works but you can minimize it and it'll run in the background
im not sure if the computer or broodwar have to be on for the bot to stay on though..

Stealthbot doesn't work if you're using a Starcraft CD key - It get's kicked off by warden, Diablo 2 and WC3 CD keys still work fine.

Just because hamachi works for everyone doesn't mean that lat changer does. I've played people on hamachi with no lag, but with the same people #LL is a nightmare.

It is a Clan on ICC. there's a thread about it on the forums, but it may not show up due to being to old. Search for it or chose to view older threads if you cant find it. Actually I'll change the settings of the forum to show more threads when I get back home. Provided that I remember it.
Also, I've not had access to my computer at home for almost 24 hours, so I guess Clan Art 1 may be filling up. Extra important to leave the network in other words. and there is still clan Art 2...

So who is up for a "Casual Sunday" tourney a few hours before TLattack on sunday (in two days)? We could start a series of laid-back 1-day tourneys on sundays, afternoon US time and evening europe timezones (fu korea :o ). Or a few hours earlier to not collide with TLattack.
I was thinking for this week, we could have a "With chz plz" theme, and play on really cheese-friendly maps (like blue storm and Troy I guess?) and encourage everyone to cheese each other, to train for the TLattack. NonY will be happy for that! They always get so disappointed by the lack of cheese in TLattacks... I also want to let everyone play fairly many games, so even if you loose 3 games straight, you still get to play more games to decide 13 or 14 position. Maybe double elimination, but something like "quadruple elimination" instead?
I'll start a thread in "touneys" in a few hours with more info, and link to it from here. I hope it is not too late and that we can get people together.
I'll make lemonwalrus my slave co-organiser. He doesnt know it yet, but he'll find out soon enough.

I only ever bothered to get to D+ though. If you want, let me know the general times you're on (-5GMT please), and I'll try to go on at some point during that.
Also: I'll play any matchup you want, including random. As a random player, my best matchup's are spread across all three races, but I'm generally within the same level with all of them.
