Brood War - Terran AI won't build missile turrets

Is not only the lack of not building missile turrets, also not upgrading siege tanks to shock tank mode, and it makes any battle with any race against terran AI in Brood War terribly easy! Interesting thing is that this doesn't happen when playing in Original mode, and I was wondering if this isn't some sort of error, like when you save a replay, then you play and you see that it replays a completely different sequence of what actually happened.

Anyway, any veteran in StarCraft have any clue about this or have experienced something similar? If I haven't explained myself correctly, feel free to ask!

The default BW AI doesn't make missile turrets or siege mode a priority (i think they go 8 rax into infantry every time, no variation unlike the P/Z AIs), but they eventually get there given enough time. I haven't played the original SC AI, but I imagine that medics being in BroodWar might have altered the AI's build order.

But you're right, the default AI is weak, predictable, and boring once you play enough. I used to play with the Entropy /BWAI Launcher a lot - it has much better build orders.

Of course that was back in 2008. Now if you want a very tough (but still technically not cheating) AI go download DropLauncher and the associated BWAI files that it can run. Krasi0 is a particularly strong Terran AI. I'm D level and I have a hard time beating them in a straight up macro game.

Empty bunkers and no siege upgrade are AI bugs appeared after a patch (like 1.14 or 1.15 or even a previous one).

Never heard about the turrets bug, can you explain it better?

Only versus another Terran does the Terran AI not get Siege mode or an Ebay (and it also stops expanding after 3 bases). It does not build Turrets at expansions at all, no matter the match-up. All of these problems are due to sloppy coding of the AI scripts which simply contain the wrong orders or conditions for some actions to execute. For example, as far as I can remember, the AI script checks for an Ebay at the respective expansion before it starts building a Turret, not for the existence of an Ebay in general. Since it never receives an order to build an Ebay at any expansion, no Turrets are ever built (except for in the main).
Zerg AI has a similar problem where they simply stop upgrading their ground units at 1/1/1 unless their build order is delayed at Lair level long enough for any of the level 2 upgrades to start.
Protoss AI has that FFE branch where they just sit passively on 4k minerals and expands for the better part of the first 15 minutes or so.

They simply don't build missile turrets, and if I want to strike them with massive air attack they have no missile turrets to defend themselves, so it doesn't take a lot of strategy to eliminate them.

The AI on StarCraft 64 would actually improve over time somehow, I'm not sure why or how but the BW AI on SC for Nintendo 64 was better than on PC lol
