Hello guys, is there a way to reduce latency in the game ? I tend to have my clicks have a 0.5 secs delay and it's really hard to do muta micro. Any suggestions ?

On b.net, you are always going to have this problem unless both you and your opponent are running a 3rd party program like Chaos Launcher to change it to lan latency. That's why you'll sometimes see games being host with #LL #L2, etc.
If one person has chaos and the other doesn't, the guy will drop.

On iccup, if both people have anti-hack on with LL enabled, you will be able to play with LL. Although it's not #L1, it's good enough. However, if you change the latency in game to high or extra high, you will notice a delay. On high, it's okay, on extra high you can really notice if you are in an intense micro battle :D

Yes, mca launcher doesn't actually change latency, it is the chaos launcher plugin (developed by masterofchaos) that comes with it that does the lat changing. This is the same chaos plugin that comes with iccup's AH launcher.

This is noticeable if you play on fish where it is common to select #L1 or #L2, there is a slightly better response time.

I found this documentation on it but I remember reading a lot more info back in the day:
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/LatencyChanger

Unfortunately, I can't find that info now =\

EDIT: After reading that page again, they seem to claim that #LL = #L2 when I remember LL being equal to #L3, so I guess only #L1 is better than iccup's default.

Normal latency = L3
High = L4
Very High = L5

The difference between L1 and L2 (LL) is as perceivable as any other increment by 1 lvl, and you should always play l1 if feasible (conection between the players is optimal).

OP stop playing on battlenet, garea or whatever and start playing on iccup, fish or shieldbattery. You'll have to download a launcher and check Lan Latency (iccup) or specify the latency when you create games by adding #LL or #L2 to the rear end of the game name, or enter game names with these extensions. People have already pointed out about the latency changer. It's been concidered standard for years and years now, still on iccup I see players with no antihack (thus no lan latency either) every now and then.
After you have the launcher, make sure you see "LAN latency ON" message in the beginning of the game. If it's not on, the message will tell you this too.

Fish and ICCup aren't actually lan latency, although I don't think many people realize that. The lan latency plugin only touches one value (turn latency, or NetworkModeDelay as it's called in the liquipedia article), but there are actually other values in the network code that matter as far as total latency.

Lan latency has ~200ms latency. ICCup/Fish on the other hand have around ~330ms of latency. ShieldBattery, since it has its own network protocol, actually matches lan latency.

#L1 may be better, the same, or worse than real lan latency, I'm not really sure (well, it's unlikely to be the same, other than by pure mathematical coincidence, the lan mode of BW definitely sets its turn latency to 2). You could test it yourself pretty easily by recording a video of gameplay at 60FPS, and counting how many frames it takes between a right click and the unit starting to move.

I always wanted to play with single player latency, or near to it. What are the possibilities on this one?

All I know is for past couple months I was playing iCCup. Went to fish, playing on #w and #l2 and it is NOTICEABLY better latency. I "Feel" like im playing on LAN on fish. I can micro a drone vs an scv and win if I micro hard and better than the scv sometimes. My units listen almost right away. Obviously as previously stated it's not "True" LAN Latency, but my ms to the server is usually 200-250.

P.S. I will rarely play iCCup now because why play on a slow ass connection when I have better options available?

#LL/#L2 (they're equivalent) are the default on ICCup (assuming both players are using the launcher). I'm not sure if using other tags will have an effect or not.

Seems doubtful, would just make it harder for pros to practice in a realistic environment

Don't use LowLatency hack, it only works in Korea because everyone's ping is single digit to each other. If you play with someone that has over 50 ping to you on the P2P scale, the game will lag like hell.

I get 250 ping to Fish and can't use LowLat because the game will lag.

i believe it's over 100 ping will start to lag with lowlat.
I played in california with 150 ms p2p ping, and it was about 0.8~0.9x speed game. not sure how the game would go on 80 ping though.

I don't know the reason why you would perceive things as faster, but in theory they should both be the same.

You can only put those tags when you have a program loaded that supports the tags. wDetector and LatencyChanger supports them, but LatencyChanger isn't used anymore. ICCup's antihack has a lan lat option built-in that doesn't require adding those tags to the game names, if everyone in the game has the lan latency option enabled in the ICCup antihack, lan latency will automatically be enabled. If you have wDetector loaded, which you should when you're playing on Fish, you must always use the tags.

I don't think ASL would use third-party programs to hack BW since it is a Blizzard sanctioned event. If they would use one, I would expect obs mode to be used at least.

It works regardless of the game being public or private.

No, ICCup doesn't support the tags at all.

Low, high, and extra high latency corresponds to 0, 1, and 2 in memory. The low latency hack sets the value to -1.
I'm not sure how MasterOfChaos came up with the values 2, 3, and 4 though: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/LatencyChanger

According to the EUD DB, they aren't. I've also checked myself, I wasn't able to find an address whose value changes to 2, 3, and 4 when switching between low, high, and extra high latency respectively, but I was able to see that the address mentioned from the EUD DB contains the values 0, 1, and 2.
