Opinions can't be valid, only arguments. And I assure you there validity is not dependent on how much sense they make, but on how they are formed. Anyone else interested in continuing the chat about Koreans' attitudes toward the foreign BW scene?

...i just read that little chit chat between you two...my god wtf just happened? ^_^
on another note, what happened w/ androide to make him seem bm during wcg?
|
I just feel like a schmuck after backing Carlo up and then reading through this post and reading his reply. We weren't talking about Pros, and we certainly weren't talking about anytime. We were just talking about their view that we are inferior. I just really feel that as much as people say that he tries, there isn't much effort being made on his part.

I wasn't around during the WCG 2005, but watching the WCG documentary I might have insight as to what happened. At the end of the game it appears that Androide said something along the lines of, "I fucked up, but you are still good, gg"
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

From the interview with Draco:
And probably the most painful thing is their opinion on foreigner players. From my experience I know that Koreans think that they have some special talent for StarCraft, but in my opinion they mostly owe it to the great progaming structure in Korea.

Actually I don't think it has anything to do with this. I think some koreans just like to expand their horizons and broaden their views and not just hang out on korean sites.
This could apply for any kind of people, but I guess korean people can be very nationalistic at times and slander foreigners, and maybe that attitude make some koreans come here.

most of the people in my korean clan are some of the most bm motherfuckers ever. i've been 8 raxed many times vs fellow clan members cuz i'm foreign, kicked out of of games i tried to ob in for no apparent reason. a lot of people won't play me at all. many koreans, mostly young ones, really do not like foreigners. If you wanna see an example of prepubescent korean bm in korean, read the text in game and comments for crayon vs fleta on yglan.

koreans undoubtedly have a sense of arrogance and condescension from being the one country best in the world at the game

It makes me think that this place has been crafted well. Well, I personally enjoy being at TL more than any other site because 1. I'm a lot more comfortable speaking/writing in English 2. It has such a wide variety of people (from just plain silly/funny to very thoughtful, philosophical discussions -- and doctors / soon-to-be doctors)
But don't judge Koreans because of what some cho-ding wrote on FiFo. A majority of their comments are a waste of time to read. If you go to places like pgr21, everyone is mature, and their recommended section (much like our featured threads) is always a pleasure to read. They have zero tolerance for idiotic posts. But I don't feel that level of excitement as I do from TL (not to say that they have none, but not as much).
I do agree -- this site has been crafted very well.

So uh, why are you still in the clan if they're just about all bm to you? ;P Also, maybe they just 8 rax frequently anyway? It was a pretty popular opening for a while I thought.

He actually said something more along the lines of: "Me miss" "But you strong" "^^" "gg"

I thought Androide was considered bad mannered because he spit in a player's face. Pretty sure it was a French player.
