Hi guys,
you might remember the initial thread regarding SC SUM about one year ago.
I would like to anounce that the StarCraft Super Unit Mod has an own dedicated server now that allows you to play the mod online. There is no need to use VPN software anymore and it will become a lot easier to find other people to play with. Check out the SC SUM homepage and have a look at the new Server section and the updated FAQs. If you became interested, join the community now.

The new version 1.36 also contains some new gameplay features including burrowed movement for the Eradicator. Check out the SC SUM video section on ModDB to see it in action.
Have fun! Best regards, Sahasrahla

I LOGGED IN!!! But I can't play at the moment. Looks cool (=

If you hosted a tournament on your server it would lead to some interesting and hillarious games :-P

Wow this look like FUN! gotta try this!

So the Zerg Super Unit can now move while burrowed, and it can spit out 'mutant Spider Mines'. Sounds good to me. Also, all the super units are cheaper now but they are still 16 pop. And the Zerg and Protoss special Building both have a spell now too to match the Terrans jammersweep. EDIT The Protoss building can power up the shields of a nearby unit to twice its normal amount for a period. So an archon could be boosted up to 700 hit points before heading into battle. And the Zerg building can be used to speed up the creation time of 'things'. So it can boost the creation time of a hatchery or some ultralisks etc.

13 persons online but couldn't see anybody in a game or in channel
Anyhow tried it in single player and it's fun! I think I like Terran still the best.

How many archons can be powered up by the Protoss special building in one go? The skill costs 150 energy and is single target. You should choose the unit wisely. Archons? Well, you can do that... Actually I had another potential target in my mind: + Show Spoiler +

The 13 persons were actually the number of registered accounts, not the players being online. Thats why you haven´t seen them.

Actually the credits for the own server are not going to me. It is hosted on my private virtual server, but I am using the PvPGN server software which is used by all other free battle.net emulation servers (e.g.: iCCup) as well.
Regarding port forwarding: There should be no need to setup any network related stuff. PvPGN uses the same ports as original battle.net. You just need to connect to the new gateway "SC SUM" which will be added by the mod on startup. When you are logged in it behaves like original battle.net. Anyone can host and join games.

Firstly thank you Sahasrahla for this awesome mod. But I think what Golgotha meant to say was that people have trouble hosting not related to server but to their router being behind firewall and stuff like that.
It can't be easily fixed on the server side to best of my knowledge, and I think Sahasrahla didn't setup anything on his server to remedy this, so no people can't host unless they already could host on regular b.net server or iccup.

Ooh... I am sorry to hear about that. Well, if someone cannot connect properly to battle.net and iCCup, it will not work on the SC SUM server either. I did some tests with friends of mine where we testet 4 player games connecting from two different continents and even one player without port forwarding configured. The games ran smoothly all the.
Nevertheless port forwarding was always essential for battle.net connections, as we all know. I am sorry to say that players without access to their router might not be able to play on the SC SUM server.

Oh damn isn't the Eradicator model from Diablo 2? Looks so familiar. Amazing stuff.
|
I think that one unused zerg skin in sc2 of the flying spellcaster looks much better than the diablo 2 worm, but that would obviously have been a flying unit and not a ground unit. Burrow movement is nice though. :D

Lawl on that Russian image.
Also bump for this thread! It deserves more love.

I just played this last night in a bo5 with a friend -- very fun games, excellent job making the mod have its own EXE and server. Very painless to get working. The Siege Destroyer is amazingly overpowered in large numbers, it pissed me off really good

If someone wants to host an SC SUM tournament, feel free to use my server (or Fish/iCCup if that is more suitable). Feel free to stream, cast it. Whatever you want. I will try to give any technical help I can.
I would be truly honored to see people playing SC SUM who can actually really play StarCraft. (I am a Modder not a Player ;-) )
