I upgraded my computer a while ago and got this weird color bug to my BW like it was running on 16 colors or something. Tried registry fix, tried the "open windows screen resolution window and then run" fix, tried with no desktop or no desktop compositions, tried with multimonitor and singlemonitor but it still doesn't fix this. I'm guessing that it is a driver problem. I reinstalled my windows so I might have some components missing also since I have another HDD that has everything else than windows so they haven't been reinstalled. I have done this before too so that shouldn't be the problem.

I wouldn't even be mad if it would be just the menus. This is what it looks like ingame and as you can see, you can't even see that there are numbers in top right. The game is completely unplayable.

Specs:
Windows Ultimate 64bit
Graphics: AMD Radeon 7870 Catalyst version 13.9
Motherboard: M5A97 EVO R2.0
Processor: AMD FX-6350
EDIT: I downgraded my drivers and now it works. Apparently the 13.9 version AMD driver with HD7870 doesn't like BW. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=432853#20

There is nothing wrong, that's how the Koreans play it, they call it 'medium difficulty'.

Its the new AMD driver. Try to use 13.3 or earlier.
|
idk why .. anything that is running on 64bit always have some weird issue that doesnt pop out on 32 or 86 bit ..
but i think its because of your graphics card or driver of your graphics card ..
and lol to this

Try the driver suggestion if that doesn't work, what exactly was your upgrade, just new graphics card, or also OS?

I've had the first 2 happen with just regular windows if you tab or something somtimes, the 3rd ive never seen before
|
I get the third one when I play sometimes.... mid game itll just go apeshit on me. If I alt+tab and come back in it fixes it.. but sometimes it happens in the worst fucking moments possible.
Only happens once every 5-6 games though for me. No idea why

I had this problem a while back A quick work around could be to windows+d to go to desktop and then open a browser and alt tab back into game usually fixes it.
|
What fixes it for me is to run in window mode with the desktop automatically changed into 640x480 every time iccup launcher starts. You could give that a try
|
I'm on 13.4 version of catalyst drivers and what worked for me is: compatibility for win95 and windows resolution screen open while playing. One without the other resulted in same color problem but together they work... And it has to be win95, it does not work if u set it to win98 or any other version
|
I guess that means hard mode is playing with the monitor off.
|
I have the same problem. Try this:
go to your computer properties > advaced settings > performance > choose best performance.
My windows is in Portuguese-BR, so the menus are probably not written this way. I had this problem every time my wallpapers changed while playing. But when I'm using this setting, starcraft works just fine.

By the way, windowed mode fix it. (If playing in window mode doesn't matter for you).

Other workaround is to kill explorer.exe process

Yes it was. I downgraded to 13.3 and now the color bug is gone and my windowed mode works again too.

Didn't work, tested it.

Windowed mode gave some "RT error" or something. Now it works too though.
Also, I like keeping my desktop resolution as FullHD since I have 3 screens and when the windowed screen is in "2x" mode the mouse lags quite a bit.
Although, just tested it again. Apparently it doesn't lag anymore in windowed mode :D

Install the 13.3 version, it works perfectly for me.

Driver suggestion worked. I upgraded my motherboard, graphics card, processor and my windows hard drive. So I reinstalled my OS from scratch, but it was the same OS installation media that I had earlier.
