Does anybody have pictures of what it looked like? I also heard you got massive points for winning FFAs. How did that work, was it 1v1 and ffa? 2v2 and 3v3s as well? I saw a zerg from denmark was best in 1v1 was that because he just 4pooled or something?

1 hatch builds were indeed popular but it wasn't all 4 pool. I don't recall any Zerg from Denmark being dominant ever.

But as I understand it wasn’t a queue like it does now since u had to host yourself. Thanks for explaining ![]()

![]() This is the Danish player I was talking about. The reason I asked if it was 4pool is because the cost for spawning pool was increased to 200 early on. Was this the reason for that maby? Edit: Nevermind, found everything on http://web.archive.org/web/20001204130700/http://www.battle.net/index.shtml Interesting to "take a trip down memory lane" as they say.

However, when I view the ASL S12 Liquipedia bracket page it has matches listed under the "info" icon to the second so it seems to be drawing the data from somewhere. Does anyone know where it is drawing the data from so I can import it?

Is there some kind of thread or torrent that has the greatest games/tournament matches of all time? Its hard to know where to start. Bonus points if it would have games from many different eras and regions. Around the end of the kespa era, somebody made a fantastic compilation of the greatest games of all time (several 30-60 minute videos covering different eras), but it seems to have been purged from youtube, unless someone else can find it. There used to be torrents containg all the old MSL/OSL/Proleague games from the past, there are all dead now though afaik. There is a lot of stuff on OGNs youtube channel for example: https://www.youtube.com/user/TVOngamenet/playlists?view=1&sort=dd&shelf_id=0 Just scroll down a bit and you'll see starcraft come up. Most of the important moments happened during OSLs, so going through some of the finals might be a good starting point. You can also use liquipedia to find some of the most important players of the Kespa era by using terms like "golden mouse" (= 3 osl wins), "golden badge" (= 3 msl wins), "bonjwa" or "six dragons". While modern games are way better to learn the current meta, I do believe its important to study the kespa era when getting into BW, given thats when the game was at its peak popularity.

https://tl.net/forum/brood-war/197538-cool-and-unusual-starcraft There are a couple other "recommended games" threads but they are very long... For tournaments and etc., it's a bit more complicated. There is no way to pick just a handful of games from 20 years of tournaments. Perhaps the best way to do this would be to ask, "what are the best tournament series of all time?" And then find them using the TLPD/Liquipedia. You can do this by looking up a player then filtering by their opponent and verifying the tournament the game was played in. Frankly, I think most finals, especially toward the end, were pretty dang good. Some series I would highlight: Fantasy vs. JangBi (both OSL finals) JangBi vs. Zero (OSL semi) Bisu vs. Savior (MSL final) Jaedong vs. Flash (MSL final - but almost any series is worth watching) Jaedong vs. Stork (OSL final) Bisu vs. Stork (MSL final) Best vs. Flash (PL finals and All Kill PL matches, particularly on Circuit Breaker) Fantasy vs. Flash (OSL Semis IIRC) Boxer vs. Yellow finals are historic and fun Boxer vs. Reach (Old; OSL finals) There are also some one-off games that I really like: Bisu vs. Iris on Return of the King Bisu vs. Roro on Tau Cross Jaedong vs. Fantasy on Chupung Ryung Bisu vs. Jaedong on Judgement Day Bisu vs. Flash on Alternative Yellow vs. Jaedong on Heartbreak Ridge Bisu vs. Flash on Heart Break Ridge (WCG) And many more.. As far as "different regions" Brood War was never forced to accommodate weak non-Korean players and jingoistic fan boys by Blizzard like SC2 was, so there was only one region of note for practically all of BW history, and that is Korea. I wouldn't bother too much with non-Korean BW during the KeSPA era. Happy hunting ![]()

They're still active, I'm currently only seeding the MSL and MBC Proleague one during my working day (GMT 09.00-17.00), but 10 years on they're still being seeded. I'm not currently seeding the OSL one but been meaning to do that again if I can find the hard drive it's on, however I don't think that's dead either and the MSL one always seems to have other seeders who aren't me. Links if you want them: MSL OSL However this is not a good way to get into Brood War! I think Tastosis' casts are pretty good for a new person as it gets you into what is happening right now and they tend to explain what's happening for people coming from SC2 often, at least they mention things about SC2 that I know nothing about. Here you can see some of their casts of the current ASL.
