The entire KeSPA era was basically Koreans for Koreans and no real project to involve foreigners to speak of. Meanwhile, dozens and hundreds of posts from all over the globe focussed on Korea. After the Beta even worse, 95%+ of all coverage was about Korea, not about how to play the game, or anything aside watching the game. The only guy to do "something" as Korean for non-Koreans seemed to be Sonic, but only partially though. Don't get me wrong, I like Sonic like every other person around here, but "they gave us so much" - really don't know. That we could see their games was mainly thanks to few motivated posters around here, not so much the efforts of Korean organizers or players. Not sure if they really care all that much about us, or that it'd be so needed to throw few resources on them, instead of the people trying to keep the foreign readers reading, or more importantly, playing. For Koreans some few $ don't mean much, for a portal like Defiler it means quite a lot. They might not have been doing it specifically for us, but they've given us over a decades worth of a professional scene. If it wasn't for them, I really doubt we'd be still here talking about this great game. Not to mention there were some opportunities for foreign players (can't expect them to be too generous if the skill isn't there, it was a business after all), but that's moving away from what I originally meant. Without them, BW wouldn't have achieved what it did, and for that I'm grateful. It was just an idea though, I don't really think the money is there. Seeing as how you were the first person to reply to me, I'm guessing not much interest either.

I did follow their scene for a long time and did promote the content when I had time and motivation to do so. However, the point is that it seems they're capable to host their shows on their own, meanwhile foreigners struggle to raise money. The amount of work you need to put into gathering money, transfering it and send it to the Korean scene is in no proportion to what you'll get in return - not much more than you already see, maybe you'll get a thank you from Sonic, maybe not. It will just not make much of a difference, if you can't raise big numbers. Small numbers are possible, as shown by Yoda - and these can be put to work and would make a difference.

Yeah, I do agree with you. I mention I had been thinking about it for awhile, when I first thought it might work, $150 would have been enough for a small 8 player thing.. not so much these days ![]()

Other than that, ICCup asked for money to host more regular events I think. However, I'm not entirely sure what would be planned. The same goes for the tSn guys (DjKniteX) and Casey - always looking for sponsors. For some time there was the SBWI, although they have been less active the past months. There's always the opportunity to host something by yourself. If you need help, there's a sticked thread in this forum with contacts. Not to forget, someone (DiMian?) tried to organize a donation-bot for twitch streams. That might be a good cause, though not sure how it runs and what the money is spent on. (Not saying it's shady, I just have no info)

That's all, really. Foreign BW is so beyond dead, and in a large part because of its inaccessibility. The MCA launcher is apparently really good but it sketches me out. There are some projects people are being really quiet about, but that's largely because they can't promise completion or finding any time soon to realise them. My opinion is that we're kind of on the last vestiges of something that is already gone. Nothing short of Blizzard releasing an HD remix on modern bnet could breath life into foreign BW lol.

Exactly what I said in my LB comment. Group A you can vote with heart. Group D is so well rounded and no single player is too hate-able/lovable.

I haven't played ladder broodwar since 2009/2010 in Iccup (I was C- back then, quite average). After too much dota, I would like to play again but, What server is popular now? Do you guys play on Iccup or Fish? I discovered the mca64 launcher now, and it is really awesome!

Fish is better due to player number, but one can still find games on Iccup quickly if one can host
