Oh wow. He was doing well. I await his triumphant return to BW.

SSL here we come!!!
Jaehoon, we <3 you!

Another Protoss bretheren fallen down.
SC2 is slowly but surely killing the korean E-sports scene, as far as the former BW pros goes. Such great players just keep on retiring and ofcourse thats not surprising at all. Their dreams and pasion were in Broodwar not in some other games.
I hope Jaehoon can participate in the amateur scene and find something enjoyable to work from now on. Jaehoon Hwaiting!

Good luck to him. One one my favourite protoss on brood war.

It's all a matter of perspective
On-topic: These news make me both sad and happy at the same time; sad because progaming in SC2 didn't work out for Jaehoon, happy because I might be able to see him play BW again (which, admittedly, is pretty selfish of me)... Even if he doesn't return to BW, I do wanna wish him the best of luck with whatever he decides to do.

He did okay for T8 in SC2 PL compared to what he did in BW recently. If you aren't passionate about the game anymore that's a pretty time to get out. Two threads with regards to this now in the BW & SC2 section. D; I wonder if there's a way we can put news/threads in both sections without having to have separate threads for them.

Two different audiences with two very different values and perspectives regarding the same event in the same thread? Doesn't end well.

Guessing his passion was BW and he's gotten tired of SCII, dunno though. It's disappointing that he's leaving right after Team 8 finally got a sponsor but hope he plays some BW on afreeca and in sonic's league! Best of luck Jaehoon!

Retires - possibly going to play in SRT, SSL at one point. Good news for BW fans imho.

KeSPA teams are rumored to be cutting a lot of the B-team and poaching from eSF teams in October (when the "Don't hite eSF players" rule expires), so I wouldn't be at all surprised to be a lot more retirements shortly, especially since BW didn't up and die the way a lot of people expected.
Jaehoon's retirement is a little surprising, because his 11-13 record isn't that bad. Though, I suppose, most of his wins are against random guys, and he couldn't get into the OSL. I guess that means it's more likely he'll play BW. I think a lot of KeSPA protosses are more inclined than the other races to not like SC2, since they're playing the least mechanical race in a less mechanical game.

I think it's gotten to the point where all the damage SC2 can do to BW has been done, and BW isn't likely to hurt SC2 much among the foreign scene. (Even though it's now trendy for people who never watched or played BW to go on long rants bout how much better BW was. Xenocider went on a big rant about how BW Mech was way better than SC2 mech, but admitted he didn't watch any BW because "I was a fetus"). I think BW has a lot of rebounding left to do, and it's only a matter of time before someone from the SC2 scene starts doing English casts for SSL, and then the two scenes end up co-existing in this hazy weird way where SC2 people kind of bandwagon on BW and BW people flip between irritation and "Well, it's exposure".
Let's try not to be too smug about it, though
