http://avantageous.com/SCBeta.htm but i can't connect!! it's stuck at "Searching for fastest Battle.net server" and on my connection list, i see 2 Battle.net's.... my brother is hosting the server and I cant join it with sc beta, but when i tried sc 1.14, it works... | ||

If you still can't get it, I can modify the battle.snp for you, but in a couple days (I don't have a computer I can really do hex editing on atm). | ||

Package for SC beta and my current server. as well as other needed files to play ^.^ not 100% if everything working quite yet but assuming it is i need a report of bugs and the causes and i will begin fixing them, if the server currently wont support the beta then i guess i gotta play with it some more and force it to ^.^ questions/comments/concerns/bugs please report them to david_r_d@hotmail.com Thanks. | ||

 , we've already gotten StarCraft: Beta to work on Battle.net. It uses a l2k-Shadow's "StarCraft Beta Gate" launcher. http://sc.gosugamers.net/features.php?i=a&id=2198 Go there for instructions on how to download StarCraft: Beta as well as downloading and setting up the Beta Gate. While l2k-Shadow is not currently supporting the project, he has released the source code if anyone wants to update it. | ||

I am late to the scene, but I would love to find an SC Beta community. No matter how much I search forums and scour google, it seems there has been no talk of SC Beta for the last 14 months. Currently I am using CidHighwinds link (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3DFHMNXG) to download the SC Beta file (can't find it anywhere else on the internet). I cannot find the "SC Beta Gate" (http://sc.gosugamers.net/features.php?i=a&id=2198) program that I need to log onto SC Beta Battle.net, though. If anybody is out there, help? I think the BETA could be a lot of fun. There are no maphacks or other gameplay affecting programs for it so it's the only pure StarCraft experience until StarCraft 2 comes out. Also, it'd be interesting to have some serious balance discussion. Like, which race is the most broken and if the game is or is not playable on a competitive level. | ||

Also there is probably no beta community since beta has been closed for... 10-11 years or something? You can still play it but the amount of people there is going to be very low. Anyway GL in you quest sir. | ||

I've uploaded that file: http://www.filefactory.com/file/bc05ec/n/SC_Beta_Gate_rar Follow the setup guidelines here: http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft/features.php?i=a&id=2198&start=50 Also: It may take a while for Battle.net to load upon connecting. If you receive a UDP Plug, you must port forward 6112 on your machine. The Beta Gate uses StarCraft shareware to connect, therefore, you won't be able to join private channels. Make sure to open StarCraft Beta by using the Beta Gate program, not by opening the actual beta.exe. Remember, this is a pre-release beta of StarCraft, so it is very prone to crashing; however, don't let that ruin your curiosity and fun. Have at! | ||

I downloaded the SC Beta Gate from your link (http://www.filefactory.com/file/bc05ec/n/SC_Beta_Gate_rar) When I try to run the SC Beta .exe file, I get an error that says "component 'MSWINSCK.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I've never had a problem running a program ever. The only game I have installed on my computer is StarCraft Beta. Is something missing from the SC Beta rar package? | ||
