Oh god. I hope it's going to be as awesome as you are telling it Birdie. It'd be great if some sc2 players would also switch over so there would be a lot of new players and the world would be beautiful.

Also I'd like to ask that how we should imagine the auto-matchmaking. I mean I'm sure that you guys don't have the resources to create something like sc2's with all those fancy algorithms so I'd like to imagine that it'd put ppl who have the same points right? I don't know if you are going to use the Iccup system but this way a 1050ish D player would play against a similarly skilled player right? But what happens if on the higher skill levels C (and onwards) it'd take people 10 minutes to get a game, did you guys consider making it so that if it searches for a long period of time it'd just make you play against a lower level players?

I would think there would be a range on the rank (say ???) so that a player who is 1050 can play (1050-??? To 1050+???) which would allow d+ and c-, etc to happen..
and the ranks will be more like fish, for this server you will not drop in rank as easily

I see no reason for Koreans to want to switch anyways. Why would they waste time with walk-over foreigners when they can play only people at their level?

Auto matchmaking would mean they would be playing vs players of their level. There's no inherent "if you're korean you're better", just the average Korean is better than the average foreigner. Ideally all the Koreans would switch from Fish and Asia, all the Chinese from their server, all the foreigners from iCCup and US East, and everyone would be on one server. Might not be possible to achieve that but that's one of my goals for the server.

We're not using wLauncher, we're coding our own launcher which is not chaoslauncher. It's better ;D

WOA, can't wait for that, is your own or mca's?

There will (probably) be two numbers each user has: ladder points, and a matchmaking/skill rating. The points define where you are on the ladder but the skill rating is used to represent what the server thinks your skill is, and is used for matchmaking. It is a somewhat fancy algorithm Basically, first the system will search for people in the queue of the same skill rating as you, and over time it will expand the search, so high level players will still be able to find games, but against a wider skill range than low level players.

The launcher is not mca64's launcher.

What if say, there's someone I don't want to play because they're very bad-mannered, and I just want to avoid them altogether? Can I pick a different opponent?

While policy on dodging opponents isn't 100% determined yet, what we're considering doing is having a small points penalty for leaving a lobby once auto match-making places you into it. Like I said though, we haven't decided for sure on this yet, so if you have some convincing argument for not having any penalty for dodging then I'd listen to it. Of course, you might very well be placed against them the next time you hit Find Match anyway xD

The /ignore command is very underused imo, people should realize that.

I think that doesn't work in the lobby and the game?

But with the launcher, you could pretty much make it work in lobby and game.

wouldn't it be an idea to make it that you can't be matched with the people you have ignored?

also i wonder how is this gonna be coped with race pickers?

Ah thanks! Should be great, but would there be more people on the birdie server than on iccup? and what about iccu.com etc and the admins etcetera

Lol, what are you talking about? Did you even use one of his recent builds? It's still not ready, and has dozens of features, including streaming to twitch.tv, chating with twitch, Fish with working wDetector and iCCup with couple of addons, which iCCup stuff couldn't put into orginal iCCup launcher for 3 years. And he is working alone on coding it. He had even to make his own autoreplays and entering chat room sound, because he couldn't get response from MasterOfChaos, when he asked him for help in injecting his chaoslauncher plugin. There wasn't starcraft launcher with such as many possibilities. Give him time to repair all problems (most of them are done), because you are most probably qualifying it by old versions, which he realeased only for testing and info purposes.

in it current state it still has soooo many problems lol.

it has potential but wouldn't use it ever above chaos.
