Props to Mike Morhaime for fast response, but does anyone know what is going on with the supposed attempt to ban SC1 streams in Afreeca? I heard about it few times in the thread but never found actual evidence supporting it so not sure if it was hyperbole (which would frankly be a massive relief).

apparently it was something blizzard korea was doing sending copyright to nowcom but sonic says everything is cleared up I like how sonic was like I'll keep you all posted and ill resolve this!! and he did sonic even said blizzard korea was like have a good finals yo! i think stuff is resolved

Nowcom (Afreeca's parent company) has also received a copyright lawsuit from Blizzard. If I just go ahead and host the finals, the stream will be forced to shutdown..

thats about as close as it comes to evidence about the sc1 streams.. and as i read that and heard zergman say bw streamers wont even be able to stream the game anymore..i think I may have blown that situation out of proportion.. i apologize

Regarding the situation with the finals, I apologize for my lack of experience in handling this matter.
I would like to thank CEO Mike Morhaime once again. T_T
Teamliquid's brood war fans and afreeca viewers, thank you for the good advice and suggestions you gave me as I was going about trying to fix this issue.
I will most likely be able to obtain a license for the 8th SSL and everything will run smooth from here on.
Regarding the cancellation of the location and the cancellation of the guests that were to appear, I am taking care of the situation one by one.
Details will be posted on my afreeca page T_T.
Blizzard Korea has contacted us saying we have the OK to run the finals and Mike Morhaime himself cared enough to leave a tweet. It makes me believe there are still so many things we (Sonic and BW fans) can accomplish together.
We are pioneering something so unprecedented, so I will learn from my mistakes (of being inexperience in this matter) and carry out the finals as smoothly and orderly as possible!!!!!!!!!!! ^^
It feels like a scene from a drama, my hands feel like they are shaking from happiness!

again very rough translation..

edit: i also forgot to WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *pours beer on pusan head* WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D

I'm so glad we got through this. It's great that Sonic got this all sorted out.

And people are still bitching. Well after Mike Morheim tweeted that it would be resolved. A lot of the remaining negativity is frankly unwarranted.

Not necessarily. He purchased a license to stream the tournament right? Regular BW streamers don't have a license or anything like that?

I think what JohnChoi is saying is that it was exaggeraton and I have to concur (according to my rough translation that quote reads: "Copyright notice has also arrived at Nowcom, so that if Finals take place there'll be forced closure" which I don't think refer to every stream). Honestly I see absolutely no ground for Blizzard to shut down individual streams; it is frankly only thing that could genuinely surprise me.

I think the thing with regular streamers actually is they either dont have a sponsored tournament or arent hosting anything with a prize pool over 500$?? or maybe the copyright that nowcom got was mainly regarding sonic? i dunno i just know im watching a starcraft stream on afreeca right now and it is quite awesome!

im glad its pretty legit now haha sonic is many inexperienced he learns from these kinds of mistakes. wow so much turmoil in the 7th bj starleague. starting with stream cheating accusations towards minus)zelot and mong and then later the physical fatigue of running 3 offlines in a weekend and then technical difficulties and then a C&D im just glad we got through it hahaha i hope all the guests who were originally supposed to appear can still come out and the venue is still available!
