No they wanted to cater both audience right of from the bat. The casual and the pros. With the pros, they improved on the observing aspect with all those bar displaying progresses of the player's build and timing. For the casuals, they got rid of single building select, added Automine, smartcasting and increased the hotkey slot to god knows how big that number is. Furthermore, right after the release of SC2, tournaments are already being pressured into the mainstream with Blizzard Cup 2011. Not the mention this http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/2228428166 thread about Blizzard backing NASL with 400K. Its all a part of their plan.
Oh yeah @ the hindrance of BW have already started as early as 2010. Blizzard phased out the game to partake in the tournament and favored SC2 with BlizzCon 2010 StarCraft II Invitational. The game have only been released for 4 month.

What the hell? They did no such thing, and the only evidence they did is a misreading of a one-off statement by some NASL guy? Blizz had a much smaller "eSports" budget in 2011 than in 2012, according to Rob Simpson in an interview. And if Blizz were going to back a tournament, why NASL? It's like the fifth biggest tournament in the scene, and at the time people literally thought it was a scam. When Blizzard gets involved in a tournment, they want their name all over the place; that was part of the KeSPA fight.
Also, they're publically traded, so they couldn't secretly give NASL 400k even if they wanted to. That would be a crime, I believe.

If BW really does die, i'll just post in General/League forums, since I have no desire to play or watch SC2.

Maybe because NASL wasn't get enough fund from sponsors so Blizzard have to act in the shadow as the 'police of the esport for justice.' So yes this is their method of keeping the scene up afloat. And no it wouldn't a crime because it could be as simple as writting a check to someone without exposing to everyone, that is completely legal.

They should add 2v2 for SC2. That could actually be interesting.

No it's not. They're a publicly traded company and they have to release their books. Stop making shit up.

Not sure if troll....
They have 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and Free-For-All, as well as an actually not very good custom games system that's getting reworked in the next patch

Pretty sure he means 2v2 in proleague, Ribbon -.-

I still play SC2 2v2 sometimes but never 1v1. I honestly think 2v2 in SC2 would be more interesting to watch than 1v1 and that it has a lot more potential for strategic development than 1v1.That being said, I don't think it's anywhere near as amazing as BW and wish that they would stick to BW exclusively (which obviously won't happen). BW 2v2 in contrast was kind of lame to watch.
edit: then again, it might just be the fact that 2v2 is more fun because you're usually doing it with friends, so it makes it seem like pro 2v2 would be better than it is. It's still mostly ball vs ball, but with more variety.

"We're already sold on three seasons. The money has been budgeted and secured. There's no like, “well gosh, if season one does really well then season two will be fine.” It's completely secure for three seasons. It's all insured and backed by Blizzard, that kind of stuff. And the idea again is that we laid down the infrastructure, it grows, gets easier as we go, and then if it's a profitable venture we can continue on for four, five, six seasons and beyond."

If you're a BW fan into Schadenfreude, Yellow's LoL team just killed the SC2 team oGs with oGs's sponsors ditching them for Xenics Storm and causing oGs to disband

I don't really see the reason SC2 2v2 would be more interesting than BW 2v2. I'm vaguely aware of 2v2 SC2 stuff early on, but I think it petered out pretty fast.
