Bad as the SC2 community and their ESPORTS fervor can be, at least they haven't spent the past three years bitching, moaning, pissing, whining, raging, and praying for BW to fail so they have an excuse to feel even more persecuted and superior.

At least I've actually supported the scene, and continue to do so with tournaments. What the fuck have you, or most of the people in this thread, ever done for BW? Nothing. So you don't get to feel superior just because you still have your BW purity ring. You're useless, worthless, and no benefit at all to the scene.

Well I guess we can all be useless, worthless, and of no benefit to dota2 now then. No loss for you too~

Also that's a perfect example of posting style as I mentioned, notice the harsh personal attacks and lack of actual argument, with a touch of whining. Well, that's just my perception at least, you don't see that as much over here eh?

I don't know about everyone else but I still play the game every now and then. What more do you want? I'm sad the scene is dead and getting replaced by an inferior game but I don't need a scene. I don't care about sharing BW with anyone because I'm perfectly happy with the game, if I lose iccup then so be it I will move on with life.

Everyone contributes and volunteers for love of the game and community. I don't think someone like Kiett does things for e-peen, hopefully. If the scene dies I don't see whats wrong with things fizzling out. The differences is that you want something more and lashing out at people who just accepted the death of BW. Death isn't strictly a bad thing. The manner in which it is dying is another issue, this OSL is going to be fkn terrible.

Yup no loss at all ~~ after all most of us are just leeches anyway. I don't think hosting a few tournaments is enough to say you have supported the scene . Actually I regard translators who have been giving us all the necessary information about the korean scene was the people who support the scene the most . Without them I don't think I would have known more about hoejja, Nal_Ra old boy wouldn't be translated .

At the end of the day, no one actually liked Flash, the human being. Not in the same way SC2 fans like, say, MarineKing or Naniwa. They liked him because he was really good at BW. Full stop.

You couldn't be more wrong.

I'm actually baffled at how someone who seems to care about BW (organizing/sponsoring tournaments) could be so oblivious. BW didn't "fail" because fans didn't care about the players enough.

And I didn't say it did. I said BW fans won't follow Flash outside of BW because they don't care of Flash outside of BW.

What the fuck? Who are you?

Just someone who has most of his posts in the sc2 forum, sponsored one or two tournaments played on really silly maps and only comes here to post in these kind of threads.

Are you serious? All the BW forum is now is whining and trolling. It's pure tribalism, and no one even cares about the games anymore, just about proving they're better than the other guy.

I'm not really aiming my vitriol at people like you, who enjoyed BW, and are now sad that it's going away. It's more at people like Sawamura, who were actively hurting it and are now trying to claim some bullshit moral high ground. Blaming other people for their own failures. That's what's getting me all in a dander.

I worked at the last WCG to hold BW. Connected with players like FlaSh, Jaedong and KaL and their coaches/trainers in an attempt to get some insight for the foreign scene in collaboration with EG, and other top foreign pros like Day9, DJ Wheat, Ranged, Joekim, G5, Painuser, and more. Then I put many hours into casting tournaments and streaming before frying my computer.

I still to this day continue to work to fix my equipment so I can try to support and start something for the mid to upper level BW community so all us Cs don't feel so awful about the probability we'll keep getting squashed by the same A/B players that have been on top since sc2 released and we nearly lost it all.

Do not try to sit on some high horse thinking we're just some bums. Anyone left in BW right now is probably a pillar trying their hardest to hold it up. Starcraft: Brood War isn't just a game anymore to a lot of us. Its a significant part of our lives. Such assumptions are quite detestable.

This game and this community isn't just a game anymore. Its a significant part of our lives. Such assumptions are quite detestable.

You're right. I am generalizing, and that's unfair. You did good work for BW. Thank you. There are others in the scene who have as well (Game and Sayle, most obviously to my own mind). But I don't see those people coming in and raging like I do certain others. The people who supported Brood War are, for the most part, acting with dignity now, and it's a little unfair to lump you all in together with lazy trolls. I apologize to anyone who actually did contribute to BW.

This is just plain mean. We're all entitled to opinions if we're contributing to the discussion, and this is something that affects and matters to a lot of us, regardless of which side of the starcraft line we identify with.

You can go find a mod and tell him or her to filter us out if you want.

Well then....wtf are your post bw plans?

My post BW plans are to try and convince you lot that there is hope for SC2 and that you should remain a part of the community. Relevant enough. I'm not trying to pick a fight, I honestly don't want to see you guys go.

BW is the gold standard SC2 fans should want Blizzard to live up to and this scene is a part of that.

Don't, dude. Everyone's made up their mind. The only way to get BW fans into SC2 is to make it a worthy successor and come back to them then. No point mentioning it until that happens, if it does.

Honestly the only way for me to even consider following into SC2 would be for Blizzard to make a public statement admitting that they failed and messed up the entire Starcraft franchise with sc2. I don't hold much of a grudge against the scene itself but I just can't stand Blizzard anymore.
When SC2 came for BW, I cried. Now LoL/Dota2 comes for SC2, and I laugh. \o/
