The issue isn't that fans left (BW's fanbase isn't as big as it was in Savior's day, but it's still plenty big), it's that the scene was 100% dependant on sponsorship money, so once a scandal came along, all the sponsorship money started drying up, and the fans don't actually support the game directly, so gg. Honestly, this was always going to happen, as a result of the sponsorship business model. Even if Savior didn't fix matches, someone would have eventually robbed a liquor store or molested a kid or wrote a tell-all expose about team house conditions that wouldn't even half to be true. BW lived and died on it's image, and it couldn't maintain that image forever with so many young people having the power to do something stupid. Once the fans reacted negatively to the horrible thought of maybe paying for BW, the scene was doomed. It had zero ability to deal with a bad time. | ||

So I'd much rather see that they implemented a paying function (if that is possible with Blizzard backing up SC2...) than having a split PL with less and lower quality Brood war. | ||
