Jaedong: "We're all aiming for our targets, no matter what happens."
"We've dedicated everything to preparing for the 11-12 season."
Jaedong, formerly in the now-disbanded Hwaseung Oz, is now in Team 8. After the announcement that Hwaseung Oz was disbanding, KeSPA managed to group together players like Jaedong and Sea to form the new Team 8, giving them another chance to play in Proleague.
We met Jaedong on the 11th, at their Itaewon dorm, and he looked much more relaxed than when nothing was confirmed. In October, Jaedong went back to his hometown in Ulsan to find a peace of mind, and he did not look good back then. Compared to when he was even unsure if he could continue gaming, he looks much more relaxed and focused now as he can practice together with other fellow progamers, and it showed on his face.
After hearing of the news of the new Team 8, Jaedong quickly went back to Seoul with the mindset that "(he's) a rookie and that (he's) starting all over again." He even gave a modest comment that during the signing of his contract, he "didn't care how much (he) was getting paid, as long as (he) could continue to perform in leagues."
Jaedong is now practicing at a new environment with new teammates, but he said that it did not feel awkward at all as he had gotten to know them before in individual leagues, and was in fact got quickly comfortable with them "as though they were (his) long-time teammates." Jaedong laughed when he was told that Sea predicted that Jaedong will be the "mood-maker" in the team, and together with Baby, whom Jaedong felt as though Baby was his little brother, they are said to be practicing focused and seriously.
Jaedong said he did not mind not having the warm support he got while he was in Hwaseung Oz. In fact, he said that this new environment could not be any better. Jaedong was supported greatly ever since he got into Hwaseung Oz as a rookie, and because this incident left him more iron-willed and determined, he is in fact thankful for this situation.
He mentioned about his expectations for 11-12 season as well. Because each (of the disbanded) teams' ace players have gathered together, according to him, the internal evaluation games "felt like an individual league's Round of 8 or even Round of 4 games' standards," and that this season, his team will not be the dark horse of the 11-12 season, but the main spotlighted team.
Jaedong finished off the interview by saying, "our new environment may seem lacking, but our team players are not, so look forward to what we can do."

Why does Jaedong look so old now He didn't brag about the in-house tournament, does that mean Killer really won? lol
Having to carry Hwaseung OZ on his back for so long is finally taking its toll on the guy, he looks so old in that picture
Thanks for the interview <3 JD... I dont know if I can get rid of my OZ tag just yet
Can't wait to see how well the team performs in their first match.
Agree with everybody in the comments section ^^
all that talk about the internal games from the most well known players... with killer out on top. wow
i'm starting to feel like Jaedong's age is getting closer to stork's, which is physically impossible, but it seems that way.
I'm excited to see Jaedong play again this season. I think Jaedong's fight to remain the 2nd best player in the world/best zerg player in the world will be one of the most interesting storylines. Fighting.
I really don't know how anyone could think having a dream team would be a bad idea. These guys are going to be practicing together, and compounding their strength, becoming better than any team has ever been before. I think they'll set a new standard for all the other teams, and raise the whole scene. As long as BW stays around.

If there's anyone i'm confident could beat the best player in the world right now it's still Jaedong.

Thanks for translating konadora. I"m really appreciate it Can't wait to see Team 8 play in new season. Hype!!!! Team 8 fighting!!!!

Thanks for translating, kona.
This team is sounding scarier and scarier with each interview...
Jaedong is going to unleash the flames of destruction, the unstoppable force, and scorch all who stand in his path. That force is going to clash with the immovable object of the cosmos, ever sturdy and unchanging. Perhaps the ever-changing winds of revolution will violently sweep them both away in confusion. The universe will pause in awe at it's substances in such violent turmoil. Only time will tell which, if any is able to triumph above the others in glory.

Though I think the team will have a rough start as they aren't yet comfortable with one another, they certainly have great potential. The tyrant is coming...
Thanks for translating konadora.

damn it I have a test next saturday right when team 8 is playing skt1
JD doesn't look old at all, what's wrong wit you guys? he looks like a little boy
Thanks for this Kona. I read the full article in Korean and I think what Jaedong actually said was, "I was able to smile when hearing wittiness from Sea, whom I pictured to be a "mood maker" in my head.
Makes more sense cuz I cant really picture Jaedong as a mood maker but definitely can see Sea as one lol.
Anyways, I will root for this team hard!

we all grow old , jaedong is not immortal :D
Jaedong has a great attitude to succeed! Lets hope his team can win Proleague!
Thanks for the translation.
Team 8 sure are going to be under a lot of intense scrutiny. Given the team's late formation it wouldn't surprise me if they were slow out of the blocks, but with such talent I'm not discounting anything.
And the Dong will once again rise and kill.
Ima be cheering for JD this season as long as he doesn't play Bisu <3
Team 8 hwaiting <3
Thanks for translating. Was waiting for it yesterday-
Nice little article, thanks! Jaedong fighting!
Fuck, Jaedong looks like an adult in that picture, its like he is losing his youth or something.
Dat spark!!!!! Hes returning to form. YEEEES!!!
Start already Pro league! I need you!
I'm a bit sad that JD have lost his young look he had 2 years ago but I hope for a great season and many good games. GO JD GO!
This pre-season is turning out a lot better than expected!
Jaedong plays for the love of the game and the will to be the best. I respect that so much in him. He doesn't care about being payed as long as he does what he loves.
And he doesn't look old lol, only tired from the freaking 10 hours of gaming the team has scheduled every day!
I'm so looking forward to see him play again. <3 JD
thx for the translation!
I love to hear he wants to keep playing first of all
thanks a bunch
hope the tyrant gets back to his winning ways
This team... I don't wanna bandwagon so imma be anti-8!
This is hardly an interview. More like a description of what was said in an interview.
I'm sooooo pumped for PL to start! This 8th team gonna break some legs :D
Hope Jaedong won't loose against GGaemo like in the previous PL .....
So if Kespa now has a team, does that mean they are now the evil empire? SKT are the good guys now? :D
God that picture! Can't even imagine him having that deathstare from that, but i believe JD, crush PL only coming second to Bisu!
I, for one ,welcome our new insect KeSPA overlords
Thanks for the translation. I can't wait for PL to start.
thx for the translation
can't wait to see who he kills first this season with his death stare
Thanks Kona! It's always nice to have news from JD!
And I sooo can't wait for Proleague to start. This new team is gonna be really interesting to watch. Thanks Kespa! (never thought I'd write this actually...).
