you need a naver account to download 1.28.02 (my account doesnt work anymore for some reason)
anyway some clear changes are new rosters (duh), new proleague bo7 format, haven't noticed anything else yet.

Sweet! I love Mystarcraft any chance of someone putting up a download link for those of us who can't read korean?

for some reason the images wont load for the game.... fixes?

Rename folders in img:
아이템 with many subfolders 선수 faces 맵 maps 로고 team logos 기타 misc
instead of hangul your folder names are in weird symbols i guess.
edit: subfolders: accesories 기타 mices 마우스 monitors 모니터 usables 소모품 keyboards 키보드 potions: 포션
you could get names from older translated versions and just move images if you don't like renaming.
Also will probably post some link of my own (improved team logos included :D).
edit2:
oh its probably won't work, almost every picture needs renaming.

Hah this is a fun game! Any chance there will be a re-upload/translation anytime soon?

translation please! I burnt tens of hours playing this! xD
I want one for sc2 too

Is it legal to just take the player and team names and pictures and use them in a game, or do the authors have some sort of a permission to do so?
This wouldn't be that hard to program, at least from a technical side. I always wanted to give it a go ever since I first read of this, but it would be pointless if it would have to be with made up teams and player IDs.

It's legal as long as you don't make any money off of it, afaik

I've been playing this for the past four hours. Too addicting. I wish they'd emulated the actual Proleague entry format where you choose the player before each match, instead of choosing all six before the first match starts.
|
Also they nerfed terrans it seems. :D
|
how do i change the language?!?
|
Do images load in this or do I still need to fix myself?
Edit: Images don't load but you can put the .exe into the 1.27 folder and it will load most images. The new players obviously don't have pictures though.

is still someone translating the new version? ...my korean is a bit rusty you know
|
On July 19 2011 10:22 greenelve wrote:is still someone translating the new version? ...my korean is a bit rusty you know Depends on what kind of translating you want
if it's just the rosters/items/maps/etc then it wouldn't be that hard since you can just search it all on TLPD. I'd do it myself if I knew how.
but if you want a complete translation including the battle text, it'd take more time. There were some people attempting to do just that for the older version of the game but they ended up dropping it eventually.
|
|
I have 1.26.02 can someone tell me how to get the pics to show???
|
I'm in the slow process of copy pasting all the info in the new version.
It's slow and shamefully I don't know a lot of the players, new and old.
So I might sometime later upload a half done picture-fix and someone can finish it up

Thanks! I'm going to stay away for now =)

As that person (at least at 1 point) I can say it is impossible to translate the live reporting text even if you spoke both languages fluently. The way the translation works it is impossible to modify the size of any text that is read by the game, so you are working in the space defined by the length of the Korean text. And the Korean language is just to compressed compared to English in digital formats. Any Korean syllable takes 2 bytes of memory. In English the average syllable takes closer to 3. I had to drop letters or rephrase or abbreviate almost every word to make the game understandable.
As I said I actually was the one doing this stuff so I know what I am talking about.
I would be translating the new version if I still had access to the program that I used to do it (if anyone wants to translate it Ultraedit is the only Hexeditor that supports Korean characters).

The following description makes it sound much harder than it actually is.
Although you will get overwhelmed at first because there is a lot of stuff that is gibberish to humans in the program. Once you open the .exe as a hex file you just scroll down until you start seeing Korean characters on the right side (it was always on the right for me, it is actually the non-ascii portion [ascii being numbers from 0 to FF in base 16 (0 to 255 base 10)]) after that you just throw the Korean characters in a translator or the TLPD to see what they mean. Occasionally you will need to open up the program to make sure that things are going where you think they are going, but that is more for text not player/team/map names.
Also if you try and search for specific Korean text make sure you aren't searching for the Ascii and are searching for the characters instead.
The only hard part is fitting everything into the space the program gives you, and finding the circumstances for some text to come up (although if it is obscure enough no one will complain). And finding a Korean/English hex editor of course (besides possibly Ultraedit [but that cost money after a 30 day trial] which is the reason I can't do it anymore)

God it is a lot harder. I really can appreciate the hardships the coaches of ACE and MBC (or even Wemade!) are going through putting up a viable lineup. I'm starting to reconsider my previous strategy of having a fresh player for the ace game so I can give him a gum, since it means I'll have to put up Saint or Pusan, for example.
Slowly getting the hang of it though. The game still lacks a bit of intuitiveness as BeSt is actually terrible on beltway or empire of the sun being a graveyard for terrans, where IRL BeSt has been rather effective on the terran map and empire of the sun features many PvT games that can go either way.
It's a bit weird that Effort and Violet are on the game but that they dumbed down their stats. Either put them up full power or not at all. Now it's just meh.

One could argue that BeSt is only good on those maps in practice because he prepared to snipe a terran. Going to jump back into this lol, know exactly how much I'll regret it next week...

I love this game so much. Spend so much time on the older versions that i am seariously thinking about waiting untill its translated. Would give me more time before the addiction kicks fully in :-)

Yeah I'm just waiting for the translations, its not even half as fun when you dont know the map your playing on and have to guess your enemy.

So I take it no one is going to translate this?

Looks fun, ill play this eventually..hopefully it'll be translated by then too!

I used to love this game! Played it all the time! So I'm gonna try and translate it! I don't know any korean so I'm just c/p into google translate and TLPD. Probably won't do the battle text but we'll see. Also I can't work on it this weekend and IDK how long this will take so chances are this won't be done for a few days. Wish me luck! Edit: Ok, that went faster than I thought. Here's the translated version http://www.mediafire.com/?60puhgteiv57wh2 There were a few things that just made zero sense on several translators that I just left in Korean. I didn't translate battle reports or the fancy item descriptions. Also most translations look like broken english crap but not much I can do about that. Let me know if there's any problems, but I won't be able to fix it til monday most likely.

Can you upload it to ifile.it or something because I can't get to mediafire in china

I tried the season mode twice but both times it freezed during first season so I wasn't able to continue. Really annoying bug.
EDIT: Played again with another team and this time it did not freeze. Strange..

I took the liberty of starting to translate the newest version (1.28.03) based on the files provided by Jumperer (and his preliminary translation) and also by looking at past versions (the latest 1.27.xx by the previous team and yesplz's 1.28.02) - hope you guys don't mind, it's mostly for my own personal use. If it's okay with everyone I'll make it available upon request.
Somewhere along the line I got bored and started on the battle text and item stuff myself... And boy, there is quite a bit. As an ethnic Korean (but by no means fluent) I also noticed that while Google Translate is pretty useful, it's misleading 99% of the time- something I didn't really realize it until I started to read the Korean myself (after I had roughly gone through 10% or so of the battle text already...). I came to the realization that the "river" that popped up so often in the translation was, naturally, reaver phonetically- not that I can fault Google there, that one just flew over my head. Also there are a lot of ambiguities and slang that I can't iron out since I'm not familiar with the lingo.
Anyway, I'm hoping that a legitimate Korean somewhere will translate the battle text, since it's relatively easy for me to extract and insert. The sheer volume of different ways to describe how a DT is denied by a turret might dissuade them though. On the plus side, it's relatively simple phrases and stuff. Although accuracy is always nice, just having English characters that get to the gist of the situation would do for me and probably plenty of others (Reaver + SCVs = daebak scarab!). Maybe the best way to handle this is to just upload a text file or start a small project page somewhere (like those novel-translation projects) where translators can contribute a translated line or two in their spare time.
I also ran into this really strange game-breaking bug where Zergs would instantly macro a huge army with zero resources after spawning an overlord or something. I fixed it, but it was pretty hilarious having Juni all-kill everyone in Winners and go undefeated... then the next MySL had only zergs qualifying and the novelty wore off. I'll put it up if anyone wants to see Flash get beaten by E level scrubs.
|
Pretty darn good first post you got there. Also river=reaver, I ran into it myself without understanding
If you put up your updated version, someone else can go and improve on it further, putting up his work, and so on.

hmm? what's the bug hauntyou? I've never had that happen to me before oO

If something doesn't make sense try using babble fish or referencing a previous version that has that line of text translated.
Also lines that are Korean character, space, another Korean character, space ext. You need to mess with the spacing before they will make sense (normally it means deleting every second character). Those things are normally the Tops of pages, like the player draft, map pool ext.
One more thing: I am glad someone is translating this even if I can't.
|
@MisteR - Thanks, haha, I guess I'll just put it up and credit it to TL, no one could argue with that, right? I just need to add the map names (which I've put off). For anyone using it, please let me know if there are any in-game issues. As for mistranslations and such, there are plenty of those, including parts where I've replaced Korean with gibberish to test something, so leave 'em for now.
@LucasWoJ - Oh, it was a self-created bug I came across by replacing some legitimate game data by accident, sorry I didn't clarify.
@wswordsmen - Thanks, your experience and tips have been invaluable in saving myself (and probably the other translators as well) plenty of time!
I extracted all the Korean in-game battle text which came up to around 900 lines, 30 pages (due to formatting) but only around 3,600 words (i.e 7 total pages). A hefty amount but not insurmountable by any means.
EDIT:
Here it is- http://www.mediafire.com/?92t2iy3dnbaxn2h *UPDATED*
Also setting up a temporary wiki to host the Korean text~
EDIT #2:
Forgot to mention, I also replaced the images with translated versions. If you want to revert this, go into the img folder then delete the translated picture and rename the original without the .bak.
EDIT #3:
Updated download link to newest version.
Korean battle-text at mystarcraft.wikispaces.com

anyone been playing 1.28.03 ? because i find it absurdly harder than the previous version (1.28.02). in .02 i managed to win every single proleague with ACE without using a single item, while in .03 i'm having a very hard time mantaining a +50% win ratio with any team, using all means at my disposal. i have to constantly witness rookies taking down my best players who are favored in the matchup. snipes hardly work. good players going into +10 loss strike. miracle comebacks no longer. is it just me? did i get terrible all of sudden?
p.s. i'm playing the korean version, dl'd from ygosu
|
I tried a slightly older (and english version lol) of this. It was pretty neat, but wow I cant get Flash to win anything!

Another update,
Mystarcraft 1.28.03v1.2
and for those of you who can't use mediafire,
Mystarcraft 1.28.03v1.2
Change log: [from 1.1 to 1.2] + Show Spoiler +- Huge additions to translated battle-text (The matchup you'll probably notice the most is PvX, there is a bit of ZvZ and ZvT in there, but TvT is pretty much non-existent at this point)
The next version will probably finalize all cosmetic interface-related translations in addition to item descriptions (although, they really don't provide anything of value, so I'm wondering if I should just either liberally apply translations or maybe substitute some with my own made-up ones). So, the only thing left should be battle-text, which will only probably be given a minor update. Afterwards, there most likely won't be any new versions for a while as I slowly dig through the battle-text, at least not until I have a substantial amount translated that warrants one.
Should Kaiknight come out with a newer version in the meantime, I probably won't be as eager to port over my translation immediately because I neglected to compile a library of the translated terms. Luckily, I'm starting to do that for the battle text though, and since the interface isn't as time-consuming I'll probably get around to it sooner or later.
I forgot to include this in my previous post: [from 1.0 to 1.1] + Show Spoiler +- Completed most of interface - Fixed some minor spelling and grammatical errors - Renamed/reworded things more appropriately - Fixed most cut-offs and text-length issues - Translated most item names, started some descriptions - Started battle-text

Are you guys sure it's in the right directory (which has the images and save folder)? The executable is not standalone.
I've quickly run through a new season with Samsung Khan (one win the entire season, haha) and it seems to save fine from what I can tell. I'll also test it on a new machine later on in the week. In the meantime, a screenshot or a better description of the circumstances might help (are you guys running it as administrator, is the file unblocked under properties, what operating system, etc).
I hate to ask you guys to run through an entire season again (hell, I'm already half sick of play testing it to death after every update), but if I can't replicate the problem I have little clue of its origin.
If this is a widespread problem, I'll revert to the last working version and commit changes line by line to make sure I haven't accidentally broken something.
Right now I'm using UltraEdit with AppLocale (cause I like the spacing better than the default) but any hex editor with good language support and AppLocale should do (refer to: http://forum.ragezone.com/f562/guide-reading-editing-korean-config-615244/ ).
I've been trying to make a savegame editor without success since the last version, but it seems that other than the item quantities, no other value is stored as plain text or a common integer. I don't have the motivation nor the knowledge to deal with encrypted 8-byte long integers (I'm assuming there's some sort of function which converts them into the ASCII string which is displayed but by that point I'm just talking out of my ass). It'd make my life easier, but I guess a million potions will get the desired stat changes.
Oh, and I'm reaching that point where my limited knowledge of Korean and Google translate won't quite cut it, so if anyone fluent in Korean wants to help it'd be greatly appreciated. There's not too much work left to be done, mostly just action reports and figurative language that I'm not accustomed to. There's some stuff I've misinterpreted, but I can probably fix it myself after playing the game a couple more hundred times =)

I can't get it to work! I dont know how to get the images to appear

man these game is amazing , the92 bw manager game was inspired from these game if only some one with great understanding of the korean language would help us out ;(.

Thanks for the nice new translations! I'm testing them out and they are definitely challenging!
Just a quick question, is there a way to have this played on my new HP Touchpad tablet? Trying to figure out how I can play Mystarcraft on the HP Touchpad so I can play while I'm laying down on the bed...
|
How do i save my progress ????
|
you can only save at the end of a season.
|
Also you need manually create "save" folder in order to avoid crash.
|
Yeah, dw about my post earlier, I was just using the client I downloaded. Been able to save just fine now for the past 3 weeks.
|
I could seriously play this game non-stop for a day.

Unfortunately, this is completely out of my scope- I have trouble decrypting numbers from MyStarcraft, decompiling it is akin to building a nuclear device in my backyard.
The original creator would have to port it over to webOS and compile a version for you- depending on what sort of engine he's using the calculate the outcomes of matches this might be more arduous than it sounds- so it's pretty much impossible unless you can emulate a Windows-like environment on your Touchpad.
As for news on MyStarcraft itself, I'll be releasing what I've done so far (I've kind of stopped progress since school started but it's a bit newer than the one you have now) and I think I have a friend who'll translate the remainder of the battle text so we could be looking at a final version soon.
Here's a bit of future-proofing: Anyone with substantial amount of time on their hands can go ahead and try to move over the complete translation onto any future versions that kaiknight may release, I'm (most likely) not going to be updating my translation for each new iteration. Towards this end, I'll set up a resource (actually already created one, but I'll make it more comprehensive). With the recent changes in BW, I'm not sure how fun it'll be playing with (potentially) a lot less teams, but we'll have to wait and see.

Wish I knew how to play this game.
My first season was nice (chose Oz, got to the play-offs and won an SL with Jaedong) but as the seasons went on my team was getting worse while the others get better...
Very addicting game.

I've got a question for you all, because I'm not sure if its just a result of chaos+chosen maps or due to some fundamental balance change: Are zergs doing badly in your games? Third season theres only 4 zergs in the top 20, the best being Jaedong at 14, the other three zergs being 20, 19, and 18 respectively. I had a relatively hostile zerg pool in season 2 but it wasnt really all that brutal, and season 3 is just fine. Yet, even A class zergs like Hydra cant beat b- ish terrans to get out of groups. I'm not sure if im reading into this or not lol.
edit: ehem nevermind theres only jaedong left in the top 20. No zergs have made it out of groups unless its literally impossible for them not to get out, lol.

Really? My games the races are pretty even in performance, I just get consistently above average players who can't win starleagues. Until I max tossgirl, of course.
|
yup, I officially only have crazy-hydra beyond the group stages of the star league for the second season in a row. CH is the last best hope :I

If you really want a zerg who dominates just draft the B+ custom and feed him magic pots for a season. Can't really go wrong (though yes it's really cheap). He's low level so he improves really fast especially if you throw him in training a lot.

Can you buy any chance have your own characters on here?

you guy should just play shakuras.me

I agree, its awesome, but getting a team is hard
Every time i try to save my progress the game crashes, so i have to start a new season every time. Stork just won the starleague over bisu and everything D: is there a way to fix this?
EDIT: nvm im retarded.

Hey, sorry to bump this up, no update yet for the few of you waiting, but I was wondering whether anyone had a working naver account to check here: http://cafe.naver.com/kaiknight and see if 1.29.01 is out yet?
I wonder if there were any changes to accommodate the new format of proleague (plus SC2).

I had an account but unfortunately it expired. .... and if you try and create a new one you can't use most services unless you give Naver some sort of ID or some shit like that.

Whoops, what I meant to ask if anybody could download it (for some reason ygosu deleted it from their download archives). I've been looking for it elsewhere all over google, but I've come up short.
If I have some free time later, I was thinking of porting over the translation to the newer version.
In the meantime, I'll try asking some of my in-Korea Korean friends.
