Hydra "I'm so happy I can't believe it"
- Feelings on your first final? ▲ I'm so happy I can't describe it. I think I'll feel it when I return to the house and my teammates congratulate me. I can't believe it a single bit of it right now because I'm so happy.
- You beat Jaedong, the best ZvZer. ▲ I only practiced with my teammates, and I focused more on my play rather than how Jaedong was going to play. I wasn't more nervous that Jaedong was my opponent.
- You dominated from the first game. ▲ I took a safe build to show that I didn't fall behind in pure skill. I tried to make the game into a Mutalisk fight.
- You beat your opponent in Mutalisk micro in the first two sets. ▲ The Muta fights started without much trouble, and I think I won easily because Jaedong came out very aggressively. I think it's easier to play on the defense.
- You also showed aggressive play near the end. ▲ I thought that I could end it then and there, so I pushed aggressively, and it worked.
- Did you sense the hidden hatchery in Game 3? ▲ I saw his base with the Overlord, but I didn't see a Hatchery at his natural, so I suspected it. But I think I lost because I tried to make too many Drones. I thought I had almost won, but unfortunately I lost.
- What did you think when you were up 2:0? ▲ Every time I started to get other thoughts, I tried to focus. I concentrated, thinking that it wasn't over yet.
- You got caught up to 2:2 in a heartbeat - what did you think? ▲ It was okay until it was 2:1, but before Game 5 I thought "This is it, so focus". No other thoughts came to mind..
- Is it harder to micro Zerglings compared to Mutalisks? ▲ Usually I think that my Zerglings and Mutalisks are the strongest, but I think Jaedong used his Zerglings exceptionally well today, so if people think so, that must be why.
- Did you prepare the build in Game 5? ▲ I felt that I needed to use my planned build in order to not have regrets. I debated on it right up to the start of the game, but I played thinking to play as I planned. When I was practicing, I thought "If it goes to Game 5, I'll win" and therefore I could be confident in my play.
- You're playing great in the final. ▲ I thought that ZerO would advance, so I was a little surprised when I saw the results. I don't have any particular thoughts, just that I must win.
- great likes using Hive tech units. ▲ That's his style, so I think I must play him to understand his play. Even if it goes to Hive tech, I'm confident that I will win.
- Your ZvZ has been outstanding lately. ▲ I was always confident in it, but I used to get unlucky and my games wouldn't work out well. I practiced a lot after R1 of SPL, and I think it's paying off.
- Your loss in Game 3 was the first of your MSL. ▲ When it was 2:0 I thought "I can get to the final without any losses", but because the record is no more, it doesn't bother me.
- Thoughts on the final? ▲ I have a week left, and I'm just going to practice like I always do. I think I can easily win if I do that, so I don't need to go through any special training. I'll practice well.
- Your team has a Winners League game between now and the final. ▲ If it's my turn, I'll play.
- Final words? ▲ I want to thank our Zergs SonGDuri, minoR, Where, Cola, and Orion, and ask them to help me during the final too. The fans are the biggest driving force behind my play, and if they cheer for me during the final I promise to repay them with a victory.

if he took out Jaedong he must win!! nooo JD T.T
|
Lee Jae Dong
Hydra has been pretty beastly though, lets just hope its isnt a one time fluke but he will continue to grow to solidly take the spot of the number 2 zerg
Jaedong needs to sharpen his edge though :/
EDIT: thanks for the interview!
|
Hydra is definitely the favorite in the final but I wouldn't be surprised if Great wins.

Congratulations to hydra. HvZ is officially the new JvZ.
|
yea " quarterfinals and final of my dreams zvz , great vs hydra , who cares of a final jaedong vs stork , this so much better " yea sure , i feel like this zvz's didn't do good to the bw scene , imagine how much more fans there would have been if stork and jaedong would have played the final , but gg to great and hydra

I swear, I think there's a jinx that no Z after sAviOr is ever getting a Golden Badge or something, or that no Z will have a chance of tying Nada, not to mention the double silver when dual leaguing.
Thanks for the translation. I am not happy about the result (HUGE understatement), but congrats to Hydra.

After winning the first Korean Air OSL, Effort will now claim this MSL?
Thanks for the translation!

Neo-Effort will win the MSL, then retire.

The starcraft gods really don't want NaDa's record to be matched/beaten.
Anywho, congrats to Hydra!

nope .. i never thought of them to take it all .. it was BO1, but Classic was really surprising though :D

What if we are watching right now, the slow descent of Jaedong from the top? Like some people said, he doesnt seem to have his deathstare...

Couldn't have imagined seeing Hydra or great have a shot at being a champion. But its nice to see someone other than JD and Flash win so..

Interview of a winner, short, precise and confident.
Let's see if we get a nice Effort replacement. The scene would need some new blood at the very top.

i think people forget jaedong is a player at the end, all people start being too cocky and say "omg flash is out JD got this" but even thou flash wasnt there from the beginning JD showed a poor performance, and i believe that will weight hard on JD not be able to win regarding the other lee isnt in the competition. i believe JD era is over imo, i believe he must recover from this and regain strenght cause perhaps we are seeing the end of a player like the fall of savior i think the fall of jaedong is inminent.
|

JD won't fix matches, so his fall will not happen. He will regain power some day.
|
well the fact is that he is still a good player but people seem to think something is missing in the tyrant, i have no doubts he will be back to be the best zerg, but i am not sure if he will be able to succeed as well as in the past, with so many good players in the competition and with the other lee breaking havoc left and right.

HvZ is a reality, people. :S

Thanks for the interview, those were definitely some excellent games.. seems like it was a dream since it was so early last night.
It was clear that he was trying to have some muta games.. I think muta battles are an essential skill for Zerg against other Zergs (of course).
Love his focus though, great job hydra, can't wait to see the Final!
:D

LOL Hydra vs Great. Going to have a great winner.

What an absolute disaster for the MBC. At least that OSL ZvZ had Jaedong in it, but to have two relative no-names (accomplishment-wise), has got to suck for ratings. I mean, the total number of fans for great and Hydra combined are probably a third of any one of TaekBangLeeSsang.

Both my picks in the round of 4 were eliminated, which makes me sad, but this (and the other one) was a really great series that was fun to watch. It had me on the edge of my seat.
Who shall I pick for the finals? I suppose I just want to see Hive tech play. Hydra has impressed me lately, but it doesn't seem he has any intention of changing this matchup, so I want to see great succeed and build the revolution he's dreaming of.
Thanks for the interview.

I hope Great takes him to late game then schools him.

thats it... i wake up to watch my favorite player lose and miss out on his chance to win another title.
i have no reason to believe that he can win another title in the future, i hope that this can finally motivate me to quit teamliquid and starcraft forever

To be honest a lot of people were expecting Zero to either lose to Great in Semi A or to Jaedong/Hydra in Final.

Grats to Hydra. He was simply the better player of the series.
On a side note, the BW scene is in turmoil right now. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few months. Will someone rise above all the others to restore order to such a chaotic scene? Or has the BW skill level finally reached its plateau after a decade of competition?

in what way is the BW industry in turmoil? explain please

I think he means turmoil in the sense that perhaps the dominant players may be falling off a bit? If so, I think that's better for the development of the game.... having new guys to cheer for can only be a positive thing.

Hydra Fighting!!! Entus consistently producing fantastic Zerg players. :D

I QQ for the loss of my JD but gl Hydra maybe ill cheer for you once i get over what u just did.

yep, I would find it disturbing if only a few players remained at the top for a very long time..it discourages lesser players from trying so a non-Flash, non-Jaedong finals is very welcoming.

5 hive tech games in the final
I could hope..

I knew that Hydra would beat Jaedong and go on to the finals. I just had a very strong gut feeling, and it wasn't just because I like him more than Jaedong. He has been on fire lately, so there was very little reason to doubt him.
Lol at all the Jaedong doubters though- Just because Jaedong lost, do you really think that he'll fall into a slump? Jaedong, of all people? No, I believe that this match has taught him a lot of things, and that he'll use this to get even more fired up and determined to get the gold next season. I have a feeling that he might go on a rampage soon to make up for the loss, and that he'll be even more motivated and inspired by his loss.
Thanks for the translation; I always enjoy Hydra interviews, Hydra's so modest. It's good to see that he isn't going to let his victory over the best ZvZer ever get to his head, and that he will not underestimate great and just practice as usual. YEEEAHHHHH HYDRA, THAT'S MY BOOOOOYYY!!!
|
You know, I feel happy for Hydra, even more if he wins the whole thing.
It always sucks having your favorite player eliminated, but when it's someone like Flash or Jaedong, only their pride gets hurt. They don't need the money, and they have nothing to prove, really.
I felt the same way after Flash lost in the OSL finals to EffOrt. I was sad, yes, but another part of me was happy that EffOrt had finally managed to get that win he must have wanted for so long.
...then he quit. So Hydra, you'd better not pull an EffOrt on us.

Yeah, BW didn't die when Boxer, Nada, Yellow, Reach stopped dominating, and it didn't die when oov and July stopped dominating, and it didn't die when Savior stopped dominating. I think it can survive TBLS falling off the top.
|
As an Entus fan, I'm really happy for Hydra (and for my liquibet). He's been playing so well lately. Didn't have time to watch these games last night, but I'll definitely have to make time to watch the vods.

Snow/Soulkey are good candidates, but Hydra has a bit to show as far as entertainment goes.

so happy you people finally see the light of hydra!
|
i think hydra will win the finals. great is good at ZvZ but hydra is better (and not just b/c he beat JD, but overall)
i also think this is it for JD.
like i've said before, the year of getting crushed by flash affected him a lot psychologically. you could see it in his eyes. he's lost his winning drive i feel. of course no player can sit at the top forever and JD has had one of the best runs, but he's been dropping a lot of games to people he would normally beat in must win situations.
hopefully he proves me wrong but this is what my gut and reasoning tell me.
|
You guys are really overreacting to this. Flash dropped both leagues early and nobody is saying he's 'done'. Jaedong is a champion, he'll be back next season. Count on it.
|
Just finished watching the vids. It was an awesome game. JD has awesome micro. HYDRA has better micro though that time. Hydra technically uses muta to win as JD uses zerglings. That was one of the best ZvZ short games.

This is actually hyping me a lot more than the stork vs fantasy finals (idk why, maybe because other players than the TBLS are stepping up? idk) and I'm a protoss fan. I did have a gut feeling that hydra is going to win.
Thx for the translation!

Surely they will be back... back again to slump even further. I can see it comming. End are the days of FLASH and JD.

Oh Jaedong
Great job to Hydra though!! He totally deserved it, and may the best player win in the final. I really like his attitude in the Interview too, words of a true champion Ty for translation!!
|
This was unexpected. Hydra looking like the successor to the CJ zerg line - how does CJ do it?
Thanks for the translation.
|
Hydra: "I'm so happy." -_-
|
man jaedong how could you do this to us
|
No one else can believe it..
Anyone find it odd that Hydra only practiced with his teammates. I wonder who JD practiced with...
|
Oh I really really had a feeling that Hydra would win!!!!
So thats 5 free Liquibet points for me
And I am really happy that Hydra won since he has shown so much potential and has a much more hotter performance of late than Jaedong, its much about condition really.
All that said, I sense Hydra going up in the power rank by alot since he will win MSL
