Hello TL!
For those of you that don't know FoxeR was once a progamer on the MBC team using the ID Clare[Shield], and he used to upload his replays to the Who is Who on iccup thread here on teamliquid! I saved the replays over a couple seasons of iccup and put them into a pack now that someone asked me to see them. There are 116 in total, mostly all vs progamers.
An interesting note, looking back at an old who is who thread just now I realised Iron (oGsMC) Used to use the smurf name NesTea in broodwar....Strange!! link (Under MBC)
Oh, and his ID on teamliquid is ljh711. Send him a message, maybe he still visits here!

Yeah, I noticed this too! Perhaps zimp and romad were wrong about the true identity of the NesTea account? Or maybe there's some other backstory... Or it's just a coincidence.

Very interesting that both Foxer and Rainbow found success switching from P to T in SC2. Both got to consecutive top 8s and in Rainbows case top 4 two seasons in a row.

I never realized that replays in BROODWAR showed you clicks and such.
I also didn't realize ZEALOTS and DRAGOONS required as much carefulness as MARINES who have less hp.

But no one is as good as he is in marine micro. If they were somewhere near his micro skills, you would think they would do what marineking would do. But no, they don't because they can't even though they want to, hence his 5 kills in gisado stream.

When watching BW we don't care if they change their nick. Iris is Iris, not berserker. Baby isn't "ty". Goojilla (or wtf it is) is Kal and fucking tall. The only exception is if you have a huge (and amazing) fro.

Well they weren't changing their names in the case of the who is who thread, they were just using fake id's so people couldnt track them easily.

MarineKing never went as Foxer either, that was only his community-bestowed nickname.
Also yes Iris is Berserker and Kal is Goojilla etc. BUT the foreign community specifically chooses not to adopt newer (often more terrible) names, i.e. the curious case of  Casy, or even the more obvious free[gm] -> pretty[gm].

panorama, I also mentioned the fans as the people calling out the names. The problem with "marineking" is naming youself boxer is just bad, which made "foxer" his primary name in the community. However, it isn't "b/foxer" anymore and marineking is a fucking terrible nick he probably won't stick with.
Solid and recognizable nick names please. A nick name is never epic to begin with anyway - Flash certainly pimped that word right up.

He only used the ID Clare in BW, in SC2 he changed his ID originally to EllenPage, then to BoxeR. People didn't like that he "stole" boxer's name to ladder with, so they called him FoxeR (fake boxer), though that was never one of his actual IDs. His current ID that he changed to is MarineKing.
To be fair though, all of those IDs are awful. :p I wish he just stuck with Clare.

it was even Clare->EllenPage->Boxer->Foxer (unofficial)->MarineKing->SharryBobins (or something like that, his new ladder account...it's not sharry bobbins but it's something like that :D If someone wants to translate, juste search the 1st at korean ladder and translate his name, it's him)
I think EllenPage is still his TLPD name.
As a big fan of his insane sc2 play, I'll watch his bw rep, even if protoss, that should be interresting, thanx OP.

I am merely just theorycrafting about marineking's micro origins. My theory has good chance considering how other players who played Terran in bw and sc2 doesn't have near good micro as marineking. Idra played Terran in bw no jokes and now his a top Zerg. You guys are too superficial thinking that playing race x for bw will help you in sc2 for race x. Well stats show it's not like that all the time.

2. If he just obtained this skill after practicing sc2 long, how come the other terrans can't follow suite?
3. This is a really interesting case so should i make a thread about this?
4. Does practicing micro with any units apart from marines in BW help me micro marines better?
5. Bottom line: i want to practice to micro marines like MarineKing

at number 4. as IRRC BW progamers have a ton of UMS micro maps that they practice for 1 to 2 hours day to make their micro gosu

Oh gosh. I really meant that for #4, marines don't help with your marine micro at all either simply because no unit in the entire game behaves like marines in SC2. In BW, marine micro was more about paying attention to them and knowing when to attack and run away because macro was much harder. No point talking about SC2 at all...

@frodo: BW micro, as people have pointed out, can be honed on specialized custom maps. And if you want to watch it in games, you probably want Boxer (i.e. real Boxer) replays - MnM was his thing (there are, of course, many other examples out there)

No, 2.1 k means you're not so terrible that people can spit on you, but not even approaching good yet. It is the very definition of a mediocre player currently. 2.1k diamond here.

Just let them have their fun for now, I mean we were all like that what? 10 years ago...Now that christmas has come around, I'm sure we'll be seeing more new players in SC2, and on these forums as well, so we'll just have to bare with them. People especially new to the pro-scene will look up to people like FoxeR and IdrA, but sadly these players were B-teamers, and those new to the scene will have to experience for themselves what a true A-class/S-class player is like by watching some of these Proleague games and what not. All we BW players can hope for is that BoxeR/NaDa/July win a GSL so people can check out their games back in their BW prime...I mean heck you got The Emperor and 2 Golden Mouse winners playing SC2, so there's still some hope for the future :D

All of the games I've watched from this reppack (about 10) were some kind of all-ins - cannonrush,2 proxy gates, 14 nexus. This guy really can't play a normal game and his style in BW is as pathetic as it is in SC2, that's why he never was any successfull in BW proleagues.
