Seems like they'll be using a new system starting this OSL. I do not understand it 100%, but I have a pretty good idea so I'll translate here.
1. 12 players who were placed into OSL through Ro36 will select one of 12 balls in a box. The balls are labeled 1, 2, and 3, and the ball does not get replaced into the box.
2. The first part of the group selection is finished when the 12 players are divided into 3 groups; group 1, group 2, group 3.
3. Here comes the fun part; the 4 players who were seeded into Ro16 from previous OSL gets to pickDRAW now, starting from the top seeder.
4. Here's how it works. The seeder will selectDRAW one player from group 1, group 2, and group 3. This will complete a group.
5. Top seeder (winner of previous season) can select the order of the selection for other seeders.
Different from previous years, and no golden ball.
Welcome to Bacchus OSL 2010.
EDIT: Now it makes much more sense. Since I made a mistake...

It all depends on the first draw.
If all the good players get seeded into one group, Flash will have to pick a good player. If all the good players are spread out, Flash will have easy time going through the Ro16.
What are the chances of all the good players getting into one group, forcing flash to play one of them. Either way Flash is in a good position. If they pick in order that means the fourth seed gets what's left right?

Flash decides the order of selection for the seeds so not necessarily the fourth seed.

Ahh I missed that part for some reason, you're right. Thanks for clearing that up. This is going to be interesting.
Honestly, you can't pick a group from 4 only good non-seed players. Even if you get Fantasy, Kal and Sea in one group... then the fourth player will inevitably be less fearsome

Yes. But honestly, this OSL lineup is rather weak. The only unseeded players Jaedong needs to worry about are Sea and Fantasy.
Edit: I take that back. He only needs to worry about getting Sea. But since the top 2 in each group advance, that won't be much of a worry.

If he gets second, we'll have another nice Ro8 JvF. -_____-

on 2nd thought, this is going to be much more boring. previously we saw the preferences of all the players, but now we only see the preferences of 4 players!

I dont think i like this. As if the individual leagues are not Flash-centric enough, they give him an even bigger advantage while potentially crippling his biggest rivals.
i guess he deserve the advantage due to his beastly records though.
here's hoping for some interesting "group of death"
FlaSh and FantaSy are friends... I wonder If he'll get him into his group with 2 crap players to ensure both of them make it out, or if he won't want to play against him early on, and expect he goes into Free's group.

Though it does give advantage to the winner, for the rest of the people it all depends on 'luck'
They were trying to bring back 'pure randomness' into the system. However, you HAVE to give the winner of previous season some advantage.
OSL's selection process has always been a bit iffy IMO. I hope they have more interesting segments lined up for the event because there are some really boring personalities there.

actually you only get the preference of 3 players since the 4th seed is just stuck with whatever is leftover.
PSS: If you read the original post before, please read it again. I had the format translated wrong. For others, please ignore the posts above this one.

Its not that huge of an advantage. You think Flash would ever go down in the group stages of any league? Even if the group had Jaedong, Flash, Bisu, and Stork, I would put my money on Flash advancing

so we have 3 groups of 4. (groups 1, 2 and 3) then the 4 seeders draw a player from each group to form a new group?? what??
unless you mean the top 4 seeds rotate drawing players?
They don't rotate I believe. I'm trying to confirm everything with @thestarleague right now.
fair enough. just utterly confused right now.
it just doesn't make sense if they don't rotate. you have 4 seeders and 3 groups....
4 seeders = 4 players who will be placed into different FINAL groups 3 groups from 12 people = 4 players in each group. Players in one group will NOT end up in a same FINAL group since they will be placed separately.

edit: far out i'm slow == finally get it. sigh. sorry for the confusing.
now that it's re-interpreted correctly i think it will be pretty cool. my understanding is that the seeds get 3 name draws "out of a hat" type of deal, so the groups will be random? I guess i'll find out anyways lol

From what I understand, Flash would want to spread it out a bit so he can arrange who he plays down the line, and avoids who he doesn't want to play (hoping they get knocked out). So no, he wouldn't necessarily want to pick all the "crap" players.

@thestarleague (in response to my clarification question): Yup! Everything depends on luck now.
