This is a good write up but I did notice one piece of information that was overlooked. (P)Shuttle also had a 10-0 PvZ winning streak.

I find it amusing how 3 of the players who have some of the longest losing streaks ever are mosnters in sc2. I thought flash would have a much higher winning record than JD, considering his titanic ELO record.

I feel bad for JinNam. Regardless of making it to one of the first OSL finals, 0-16 has to suck major balls.
And as for NaDa, daaaaaaaaaaaamn 87 months? you da man

they're good in sc2 becuase the monsters in sc1 haven't switched over yet for the most part, and the game is still young

It's nice to see GoRush with the longest streak. I had no idea he held it but to this day I remember the ridiculous tear he went on.

Wow gorush. I remember people talking about how good you were from time to time but damn.

The only streaks that is current is Flash's OSL finals aperences, Joyo's vT losing streak and JinNam's vT losing streak right?

edit: forgot that Joyo was a race picker. So he dosent have the longest Tvt losing streak because he played protoss for those. The first game of his losing streak on TLPD was against boxer, and he played protoss for that one.

Kind of ironic that (Z)TheWinD,(P)SangHo, and (P)RainBOw have the biggest losing streak records in BW and now their owning in SC2.

22 KeSPA sanctioned games, yes. TL considers the GOM Classic an official tournament so in the TLPD it was 'only' 15 games.

The oldest MSL runner-up - (P)Nal_rA (24 years, 4 monthes and 1 day, Pringles 1 MSL 2006)"

I'm confused... if this is for oldest, why are the older winners the "runner ups" ?

Bookmarked. Amazing.

I don't know if this is a useful record, but maybe we should count number of silvers? Or number of silvers before a gold. Just for OSL/MSL or other leagues too? Obviously the two main contenders are Yellow and Stork. The silver curse!

Stork 7 Silvers
Yellow 6 Silvers

Yeah, and if I remember correctly oov's streak was 'only' 21-0 as long as you only count official games as well.

you cant count oovs streak as 27-0 if you dont count flash's streak at 24 or so tvt (unless you count his loss vs sea in UPL)

Moreover it makes no sense to count his gom game as a break of his streak, but not counting his GOM title as star league title imo =p. Either GOM counts or it doesn't.
But anyway, great op, statistics are always fun

I don't understand:

"The longest streak of being at TOP-1 KeSPA - (T)BoxeR (17 months straight)"

"Terran TOP-1 KeSPA - (T)Flash (30 months, 18 straight)"

Shouldn't Flash be number one? Maybe it's just late and I'm missing something.

I was confused as well, but I don't think the Terran TOP-1 KeSPA ranking necessarily means that Flash was overall #1 during those months, it just means he was the top Terran ranked player in the KeSPA rankings for those 18 straight months.

Oh, OK, now I get it. My bad. But speaking of which, isn't Flash close to breaking the said record? How long has he been top1 for?

"TOP-1 KeSPA Terran" would be more fitting, I guess.

Good work!

The streaks are problematic because it depends on what leagues you want to count or what TLPD/KesPA has. Apparently, Oov's TvZ streak was only 27-3.

Possible things to add:
Most wins for each race
Most losses for each race
Best winning percentage for each race (I know that changes a lot, but the main rankings will stay about the same)
Most consecutive league finals overall (OSL and MSL)

More difficult to research, but might be interesting:
Most wins/losses in one year for each race
Most proleague appearances/wins/losses for each race
Most ace appearances/wins/losses for each race

And Oov's was apparently not 27-0 but 27-3.

Wow! This is such a great thread. I applaud all the people who put effort into making this possible! ^^
Two things I feel like saying:
1. Wow...Kal and Fantasy were younger than I am now when they made runner-up in their respective leagues...It makes me feel like I haven't done anything with my competitive SC career =(
2. Was the Incruit OSL really 2 years ago? I remember it like it was just a couple of months ago. Gosh, I feel old. =(

Isn't FlaSh's vT streak 22 games? I guess that's counting KeSPA sanctioned only, which would exclude GOM and WCG.

Highest Winning Record (or Highest ELO) for any matchup:

Jaedong ZvT
64 wins - 15 losses (81.01%) (for standard leagues, of course)
ELO: 2341

Achieved in 26/april/2009

Edit: Just found a problem.. a high winning percentage would have to have a minimum of X games to have a fair comparison. So just put the ELO. =P

Edit 2> Oh, realized you put it already. Ok, I will always be amazed at JD's over 80% in a matchup having more than 50 games in it.

I think it was discussed somewhere before that oov's streak wasn't actually 27-0. I think it was 18 or 17.

He went 27-3 which is till god damn impressive.

Also I agree with one post above, either count GOM as a title or count Flash streak vs T as 22-0 which is officially the longest streak vs any race.

Awesome post, I'm kinda surprised by the 'oldest' champions. I knew BW was dominated by the youth in Korea, but wasn't expecting tobe that much!

Anyway, very interesting, thanks!

3-10-25 4-07-1 between these 2 dates I count 26 wins for Iloveoov in a row vs. Zerg, is this the streak OP refers to? and if so, what part of it do people in here disagree with? I am actually pretty new to following the proscene so I am clueless :/

Just a note, iloveoov's longest streak was 26, not 27.

Some of the games during that streak were in non-ranked leagues (invitationals) so it is arguable how well did the players prepare. Nevertheless, it is awesome

He did include them in Oov's streak.

According to Kespa, Flash's TvT streak is the longest 1 matchup streak ever since Oov's was technically only 18-0 and Flash was something like 22-0. But Kespa kind of intentionally didn't count certain leagues.

You should include all time winning percentage overall and by each mu with some arbitrary minimum. Also most played maps, most balanced maps, least balanced maps my mu and ect.

For match-ups, I would think Flash for overall, Terran, and Protoss and Jaedong for Zerg. Maybe there are players who, with a low enough minimum count of games would pass them in one of the vX categories.

Great idea! I hope people add to this.. can't think of any more topics off the top of my head though.

Also, 27-0? oh iloveoov, why you so good?

Edit: Possibly could add WCGs in there too, get Stork on the board

I started something like this on Liquipedia once, but never got farther than most Dragoon and Reaver kills in a single game haha. Anyway, those (and other alike) might be cool to add, and I do still think it'd be super cool to add this to the wiki when you have a substantial list. It'll be handy to keep track of also since everyone can edit it. Let me know if you need help doing this or if I can do this for you.

Ok, I'll remove him from the list

I'm always in awe about Jaedong's ZvZ %. A match-up so fragile that a single mistake would cost you the game.

The Oov 27-0 TvZ winstreak is wrong, he went something to the tune of 27-3, I think like 17-0? Do a search and the real record will pop up.

You can also add stats like longest and shortest game in PL/OSL/MSL which I'm not sure of the stats but I guess if you count the Flash v Ruby game from a few weeks would be like a 2 second win.

nah screw the royal roading thing

royal roading means nothing

it means you won the starleague on your first qualification
but you could have attempted it 50 times before and failed to qualify, then when you do qualify you happen to win

i think free did this, when he failed to qualify multiple times, then qualified, and was called "royal roading"

doesn't really mean anything :d

Yes it does. The games before qualification are nothing like the ones after it. Overcoming the pressure from qualification rounds can take 50 tries, and you wouldn't be prepared for the pressure afterwards in the actual Ro64/32/16/8/w.e. It does mean something to go for gold from the moment you first enter a tournament, because it means that you are just that much better than the experienced others.

if you calculate flash's odds vs jd (by elo) it comes out to flash being favored at 2-3 (or more precisely 60.96% to win)

reason why flash has such a high elo is due to the quality of opponents that he has faced. to put it in perspective, for example just becaus someone has a high win rate at d rank it doesnt automatically translate to a high win rate at a rank on iccup.

if you go by win percentage flash is 17% "better" than jd.

if we only had access to kespa's complete record. i dont think tlpd is quite as complete

evidence strongly suggesting that iloveoov's win streak isnt 27-0 but rather 18-0 (which is of course still the highest)

▲ I had no idea I was so close. If I can break it, it would be an honor. A player may fade away, but a record lives on until the end of time. I have 1 game left to reach iloveoov's record and I will try my best to break it."

This is great. Is there a link to the snow game with all the reaver kills? Would like to watch it.

Nevermind, saw the post.

if we only had access to kespa's complete record. i dont think tlpd is quite as complete

evidence strongly suggesting that iloveoov's win streak isnt 27-0 but rather 18-0 (which is of course still the highest)

Isn't Flash's 19-0 the highest in that case?

in XvX flash has the highest at 22-0 (TVT). the TVZ streak record is held by iloveoov who has 18-0 straight wins, flash's record is 16-0 TVZ (not including gom since that wasnt kespa sanctioned).

There was also a draw between Boxer and a Chinese player (who went by the ID of Lx, I think) in a Chinese competition where Korean progamers were invited (4 Chinese pros vs 4 Koreans). It wasn't a KeSPA rated game, but I think it should still count as "pro SC", especially since Lx was recruited by SKT at some point.

is it possible to search for something like world title in boxing?

Starting from 1st game in tlpd

99-09-25 Progamer Korea Open Lost Temple V-Gundam [z-zone]Khan

suppose the belt went to Gundam and from there to the first progamer that beat Gundam and so on. Who would have it now? Who had it the most, period or games .. etc

edit: maybe this has been mentioned before

TvZ: (T)Flash vs (Z)Jaedong (11.08.2010) - 3:10 VOD

Shouldn't the fastest win overall (in this case a TvZ) be the same as the fastest TvZ??

Here is a 3 minute 55 second ZvP from the MSL

http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/korean/games/9443_Jaedong_vs_LuCifer/vod

Here is a 3 minute 24 second ZvP, although its from WCG Korea Finals. So not only is it not a major league, but both players had already qualified for WCG Grand Finals. Shenanigans ensued.

http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/korean/games/9856_Jaedong_vs_Stork/vod

Zerg wins both games for the record.

Are these records from standard leagues only or from all leagues? If they contain every league then Movie's PvP losing streak was only 8 because he won some PvP in preliminaries.

How about the pair that has been played the most?
I have no idea which pair has been played the most, but I'd hazard a guess of Jaedong vs Flash.
I could be wrong.

Cool thread. I especially like the "shortest games" section — about to watch a couple and figure out what the hell happened. I'm guessing extreme BO losses, like 4pool vs 14cc.

I think there's a glitch in the game that allows a scouting probe to kill a building Command Center in one hit. I might be wrong.

GGPlay vs Stork

1:08:40 + 11:29 = 1:20:09

The currently listed time is incorrect; it seems that it doesn't exclude the period where the game was paused.

There have definitely been games over an hour long. Without checking times, that Stork vZ game on Andromeda was so long the ref paused and asked if they wanted to continue and a couple other Sair/Carrier games were really long.

I believe I've found a faster ZvT win. Kwanro vs Really Set 1, in Ro24 WCG Korea 2010.

Game starts at 1:58
Really ggs at 4:46

2:48 if my math isn't mistaken

VOD is here:

I'd suggest a most games played / lost / won category (can be seperated into overall and seperated into leagues), as well as maybe some team stats?

Nice thread

I mentioned this back on page 1 but I see it still hasn't been added. Going by standard leagues then (P)Shuttle has a 10-0 PvZ streak also. However if the GOM games aren't being counted then he actually holds the record with an 11-0 streak.

First off all, this is an awesome thread, thank you guys, you are awesome.

Secondly, there is a tiny mistake in the above list, the Flash vs JD-game was played in september and not in august, so it should be 11.09.2010

I want to see the IdrA/NoNy game (not in the Korean PL so don't think it qualifies) where he 14 cc'd and then cancelled his CC on accident and then gg'd.

Why not? If both Jaedong and Effort could magically ignore a loss then Jaedong would have a 17 win streak and Effort would have 18.

I seem to remeber that happening on match point. It may be a different game than what you were thinking of, but that situation could not have happened too many times on the pro level, so it is most likly the same game. I won't be able to find it, I'm just trying to help someone else. I also seem to remember that MBC was involved, either as the cheeser or the defender. Just checked Light, sea, and jaehoon's games on Match Piont. None of them...

No, this was an old game. From like 2002 or 2003 or something. Was it IntoTheRainbow? In any case, it was on space tileset, so that may be why you're confused.

Not the game I was thinking of, but probaly the one dybydx was thinking of. TLPD says that it was a WCG game, so it shoulnd count. Good catch though.

most kills with a marine

fantasy - soulkey dante's peak

24 kills

It would be interesting if you add the category: most money earned by starcraft.

Some team stats would be nice too. I believe SKT has the most proleague wins.

TheRock is approaching 16 losses in a row.
He's at 14 right now.

i =1 the record of most money earned by starcraft. though i have a feeling it would be boxer or nada. i heard somewhere that nada made like 200,000 a year playing and sponsorships.

but why do Korean sites always cite Gorush as the win-streak holder? I guess they only use KesPA-rated (or sanctioned?) events?

guys we have a new record broken!!!
set 3 between fantasy vs calm
not gonna say who won although for most people it would be obvious by the time
fastest win so far was 2:51 by hyvaa vs pusan
new record is 2:36 counted from the video of youtube if anyone wants to be more precised he needs to check the actual replay (it would be a mater of difference of maybe a second to either way )
but def faster than 2:51 .
congratulation for the winner and for the one that broke the record, could be the same one maybe i'm not the one that will spoil it .
i say we dust off and nuke it from orbit

In light of Bisu's recent 15 win PL streak, I figured it would be a good time to revive this thread

Does anyone know what the longest OSL, MSL and PL win/loss streaks are? I'm guessing its impressively difficult to have a long OSL or MSL loss streak, since you wouldn't make it back in if you were sucking...

can i just ask why in the draw between flash and jangbi in SPL (2008 07 07) jangbi receives the win in the TLPD? same goes for the other draws (one player receives the win). TLPD can't consider draws?

That is an older streak by JD. I assume that he is referring to JD's current streak(which is broken) because since 11-01-06, he started a ZvT win streak and played 13 games up to now, and there is no other 13-0 vT record that I can see in JD's record.

The PvZ peak needs to be updated, 2316, plus Bisu is only 2 points behind it so he might yet break it again.

Flash has set the TvT peak to 2348 and you've mixed up his vP and vZ cos his vZ is only 2333 but you've listed it as 2346.

ZvT 2302 and ZvP should be 2319 (not 2322 as listed)

I think you read Flash's vP and vZ backward. His peak vP is 2333 and vZ is 2346, so the OP is right for vZ but the vP and vT haven't been updated correctly yet.

According TLPD, Stork and Jangbi are tied for the highest PvT ELO Peak:

http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/players/detailed_elo.php?section=korean&race=P#tblt-3115-1-5-DESC

Of course if Bisu faces Baby in his MSL group and wins, he will probably pass it.

The only pair of progamers to loose 2 consecutive OSL and MSL together:
Fantasy and Jangbi (Fantasy lost 2 OSL and Jangbi Lost 2 MSL during the period from September 2008 till March 2009)
Of course it is not a record, but something really worth of mentioning before the finals. :D

Wow I'm amazed that wasn't July's Golden Mouse OSL. Apparently July was only 21 (nearly 22 tho) when he won his last OSL. Sometimes looking at these stats is so sobering to see just how young champions are and how young old legends are as well.

I think it's for the first time in BW history when ELO for highest PvZ peak is higher than ELO for highest ZvP peak.

(P)Bisu PvZ peak - 2321
(Z)Jaedong ZvP peak - 2319

Amazing.

Wow I'm amazed that wasn't July's Golden Mouse OSL. Apparently July was only 21 (nearly 22 tho) when he won his last OSL. Sometimes looking at these stats is so sobering to see just how young champions are and how young old legends are as well.

+ Show Spoiler +
btw I almost immediately remembered of July's OSL win when Jangbi won the last game. It's very similar in terms of surprisingness that a certain player is still good enough for winning an OSL o_O

Truly incredible stat. For all of Bisu's flaws/failings you can't deny he is one of the most special BW players to ever live. When it comes to PvZ he is truly the chosen one.

Flash vs RuBy now holds the record for the fastest win ever:

While Ruby left during the countdown, it was technically an official victory for flash (no disqualification) since KeSPA rules state the game starts when the countdown starts (and ruled that Ruby surrendered the game).
It takes an idiot to do cool things.

Boxer's 17-0 streak is mostly WCG Korea games, and even if you elected to count those there are four exhibition games. Mind you, it's very cool that he defeated everyone in WCG, but it's really not the same standard you usually hold a win streak to. Maybe I am just a sucker for GoRush.

Jangbi's Jin Air OSL win was 16 games in the OSL and 11 games in the prelims (27 games). Effort's Korean Air S1 run was 24 games in the OSL (if you recall those tiebreakers - and he was seeded that season so no prelims). Kind of cool.

Are you blind? Did you even bother to read the OP?

The only foreigner to win an OSL - (P)Grrrr... (Hanaro Communication Tooniverse OSL, 99/00)

Grrrr... is pretty much the first foreigner to go to Korea, beat Boxer in a broadcasted event during his early prime and win a OSL, what more do you want?

just cause hes foreigner and won, doesnt mean hes on the same level as boxer. you could say the same for all the other 1-timer players, doesnt mean just cause they won once means that they are boxer level.

This thread needs some large update. There were ton of matches on post KeSPA and ASL/Remastered era.

Longest broadcasted games:

ZvZ: (Z)YellOw vs (Z)GGPlay (07.08.2005) - 42:19 VOD

I don't think it quite makes sense to combine the records from the two separate eras (due to the vastly contrasting set of circumstances), but it certainly would be interesting to come up with a similarly themed trivia filled post for the ASL.

Take the following trivia below for example,

The oldest player to record a victory within the ASL: PuSan (aged 32 years 3 months 9 days)

Should this record replace BoxeR's record despite it not being televised anywhere? Should it be taken into consideration since the stature of online streaming has grown so much compared to the past? Should the average age of the contestants being so high compared to the past be also taken into consideration? BoxeR beat Killer, who made his professional debut more than seven years after BoxeR's debut as a professional, whereas PuSan beat Stork for his record within the ASL, a contemporary peer roughly speaking, in terms of the timing of his debut as a professional gamer (they both won their Courage Tournament in 2004).

If the influx of new Brood War talent slowed down enough at an earlier point in time (hypothetically speaking), wouldn't it be possible for BoxeR to simply break his own record playing versus his contemporary peers over and over again?
