Rakaka Swedens biggest E-sport site is covering the World Cyber Games 2010 in Los Angeles. We got hold of the Tyrant Jaedong after his final game at WCG and are happy to bring you an interview. Our editors described the moment as "homo erotic fan journalism". Enjoy
+ Show Spoiler +Jaedongs fighting pose after the interview.
"Team Korea has once again shown that there is a major gap between the Koreans and the non Korean players; do you ever get worried playing versus the non Koreans? - I do not get very worried playing the non Koreans since I adapt my playing style during the games and I easily feel the skill level of my opponent, if they are good, bad or mediocre."

An interview with Ultimate Weapon Flash was made earlier, check it here.

I feel pretty bad for Jaedong, he's been 2nd to Flash all year and now he's 3rd, even though he'd probably beat Kal if the brackets were different.
|
Wow, Jaedong is admitting that his aging process is catching on to him! Jaedong come back next season and rape Flash!!!!
|
This is AWESOME
They forgot to translate this but it basically says that Jaedong will change to sc2 when it gains popularity in korea.
|
lol jaedong's fans went bananas after the two straight 4pools...
|
Interesting to hear that he intends to switch to SC2. I hope it takes a couple of years though, or else there will be no threat whatsoever for Flash.

Besides, whatever Jaedong plays is going to be popular, period. I really don't think he has to worry about SC2 catching on if he were to switch over.
|
Jaedong follows cs and doesn't like w3? For some reason I expected it would be the other way around. Anyway don't worry JD, your fans are with you, whether you 4pool or expand to a questionable location. I am really looking forward to the next Proleague season.

Rough translation...
Q: What's your take on the future of BW and will you switch to SC2? A: I will definitely switch to SC2 because I feel it will reach a higher status than BW. There will also be more international tournaments in SC2, which makes the transition natural as I want to reach out to a bigger audience.
There could of course be some info lost in translation from korean, but hopefully we'll see jaedong in sc2 soon
Edit: They added an english translation which says "when its bigger than BW", but if that's the correct translation then the original one is...weak.

I want to build my reputation abroad and reach out to the international audience.

Awesome Jaedong! I'm glad he's not losing hope. I would feel totally crushed beaten by the same person over and over. And I'm glad he's not cheesing this time.
Maybe next time, he'll bring back the zerg glory.

Thanks for the interview.
Awesome info about JD. Will be switching to Sc2 when it gets more popular etc and playing and even watching Counter Strike.

From the tenor of these interviews, it's really feeling like this will be the last season for BW.

Imagining JD and Flash playing SC2....wow.
Hopefully they stay in BW for a bit longer though

Even if it's not saying he's going right now, the fact that _Jaedong_ publicly stated he's open to the idea of switching is crazy.
ZERG FIGHTING!!!!!
Also, if you scroll lower there's the entire interview already translated in English by the website.

imagine jd and flash switching to sc2 together under the same team. other teams = gg.

FUCK NO.
Ugh, I hope this is like what happened with CS where it goes all the big players move to CSS, then the majority goes back to 1.6 when they realise it's much better.

The translation is a little bit updated. We are sorry for some confusion and misleading information. We're covering all the games at WCG and therefore on a final day like this it get's a little bit hectic. It was suppose to say "as I feel" and not "when I feel". We are also sorry about the mistranslation abotu the biggest news item in the interview that Jaedong will be switch to Starcraft 2 eventually. Hope you liked it anyway, cheers.

He's gonna get mighty bored in SC2 with his 500 APM. Will he hotkey every single zergling and micro like the Overmind to pass the time? ;P

Not really at all in my opinion. Everyone in the CS scene lost when they left and came back. They came back to 1.6, but the entire scene is not even close to the greatness it once was in my opinion :/.

He has two more years on his contract after which he'll probably have to enter army. I seriously doubt he wld break his contract to play SC2 so the earliest you're looking at is 2015.

As I clearly said, the only way that happens is if he breaks his current contract with Oz. Otherwise, no earlier than 2015 because of military service.

zomg Jaedong to SC2.. <3
That would kill SC for me which saddnes me, but I guess it's inevitable. Once we see these big name BWA players transfer over to SC2 shit will hit the fan.. :D

Best quote I've seen in quite awhile.
Or, to do it all internet style...

Jaedong: "my fans bananas."
Jaedong: "fans bananas."
Jaedong: "bananas"

If JD switches to SC2 we'll get to watch the world's most amazing attacking player turn into a boring defensive Zerg who spends all game managing his creep spread and holding off banshee/reaper/medivac/hellion harass until the mid-late game when the SC2 designers think he is allowed to go on the attack.
|
Then maybe he should play terran or protoss?
And you cant compare what happened with CS and CS:S with BW and sc2. Apples and oranges. Even at its peak CS:S probably wasnt more popular than 1.6 at the same time. Unlike between bw and sc2, one was clearly superior and it wasnt merely an opinion matter. But at the same time CS1.6 & Source is why I advocate the "death" of BW. BW and SC2 cant coexist. Coexisting would hurt both. It either a great sc2 scene or a mediocre coexistence. In either case bw wont be the same.
People saying that cant change for 2 years + likely military service dont realize that Hwaseung can and will release Jaedong of the contract if bw scene cant make the team profitable. Another option is that Hwaseung Oz swicthes to SC2 and his contract will continue but now instead of bw he is playing Sc2. In any case, I dont think he will be switching just yet...

lol Jaedong won't 'switch' to SC2. That implies he would leave the BW scene for the SC2 scene. He means he will go to SC2 if it becomes bigger than the BW scene in Korea...which all pro gamers would at that point.

Sorry to rain on your parade of wishfull thinking here but he said he would switch, the only question for him was when, tomorrow, in a week or in a year.
That is what the man said
He never said he would go to SC "ifs" or "buts" or "maybes"
Sorry but that is what the man said, respect that and stop trying to put words into his mouth

Although I personally don't mind 4-pooling and shit (I even wanted him to do it in their OSL games since Flash had been going 14 CC like literally every game between them in the last year before that), it's great that he decided to refrain from using that kind of stuff in their WCG games. ^__^ Game 2 will go down a Flash vs JD classic. Gonna rewatch it now.
Thank you JD for being so awesome!

Players can't make something out of nothing, if the game doesn't allow anything special to be done then it can't be done. Jaedong didn't do anything in BW that we didn't even know about, the huge mechanical skill level required by BW just means his play was impressive solely because of that, and this isn't even true for SC2.
I dunno why people are acting like Boxer/Nada/JD etc etc are going to pull something amazing out of their ass that makes the game actually interesting. We aren't going back to the dark days of RTS, SC2 is and will be furthered figured out extremely quickly. I'm sure the BW players will be much more refined play but these days they are not just going to invent stuff out of nothing.
|
perhaps he will go to SC2 if he breaks Nada's record before Flash does.
|
JD plays CS?
Wanna see that!
I agree that having pro bw players play sc 2, while interesting doesn't make the game more watchable. But it is inevitable that the scene will transition to sc 2 eventually so I guess we'll adapt.
|
So Jaedong is basically saying BW is starting to decline and he wants to rape international face (metaphorically speaking) in SC2?
...*watches as everybody drops a rank*

No one really liked CSS in the first place, they only played it because of CGS and the easy prize money. Everyone who stayed in CSS either became too bad to play 1.6 or were newcomers who never played 1.6 in the first place and wouldn't know how to play it if they tried.

Nooooo ((.I like SC2 but i don't really want them to leave SC1.SC2 is kind of easier since you can control big amount of units at once and has many new things.Especially cause zergs can now make creep where ever they want and have 6 larvas at a hatchery so no wonder they want to switch.... Let's not mention terran making twice a unit from 1 barracks at a time.I haven't tried protoss yet in Sc2 so i can't comment .But the point is Sc2 is easier and is overpowered.Sc1 is harder and requieres more skill that's why i love it.
