I was hoping this thread would still come back even after TLPD. Because even though the leagues are covered in TLPD, there is a lot of information in these articles that isn't included there.

Is jkillashark still going to do one for the MSL?

Question, what is the tie-breaker system for this osl? Is it this?
1st - 2nd tie / 3rd - 4th tie = ranked by the match played between them 2nd - 3rd tie = Playoff 3 way tie = round robin
|
so do the people who got eliminated still play next weeks matches?
|
United States7488 Posts
yes, they play for honor!
|
Hmm, does anyone know what will happen after this stage?
like a1 vs w/e etc.
|
United States7488 Posts
If they use the same bracket pairing as last season (which I think they would) the Ro8 looks like this:
Match A: A1 v C2
Match B: C1 v D2
Match C: B1 v A2
Match D: D1 v B2
|
Thankyou semi, so if i take a guess at who advances it could be like this:
UpMagiC vs Jaedong/Stork
Jaedong/Stork vs Flash
Light vs Bisu
Savior vs Iris/Hwasin
|
why is ggplayout going 0-2 while rock is still in but is also 0-2?
|
Melbourne5338 Posts
+ Show Spoiler [Possible Outcomes] +Group A Upmagic v GGPlay: ->Either: -----> Bisu: ----------> Upmagic = A1, Bisu = A2 -----> Shudder: ----------> Upmagic = A1, Shudder = A2
Group B July v Hwasin: -> July: -----> Iris: ----------> Iris = B1, Light = B2 -----> Light: ----------> Light = B1, 3-Way Tie (July, Hwasin, Iris) for B2 -> Hwasin: -----> Iris: ----------> 3-Way Tie (Hwasin, Iris, Light) for B1,B2 -----> Light: ----------> Light = B1, Hwasin B2
Group C Jaedong v Stork: -> Jaedong: -----> Either: ----------> Jaedong = C1, Stork = C2 -> Stork: -----> Either: ----------> Stork = C1, Jaedong = C2
Group D Flash v Savior: -> Savior: -----> Frozean: ----------> Savior = D1, Frozen = D2 -----> Rock: ----------> Savior = D1, 3-Way Tie (Frozean, Rock, Flash) for D2 -> Flash: -----> Frozean: ----------> 3-Way Tie (Savior, Flash, Frozean) for D1, D2 -----> Rock: ----------> Flash = D1, Savior = D2
Very slim chance but the way the remaining games are, two players in GGPlay's group are guarenteed 2 wins and Rock's group could still end with a 3way tie with 1 win.

so any way this happens jaedong will vs a terran. sweet
|
On October 29 2007 09:56 intotherainx wrote: so any way this happens jaedong will vs a terran. sweet
well if stork beats jae jae will vs Up, if jae beats stork, jae will vs either flash frozean or rock if they all go 1:2 (rock beats frozean, savior beats flash) and rock wins tiebreaker, theres a Slim Chance jaedong can play rock
but jaedong has vsed rock a bit now and just recently beat him, so jaedong has a very high chance of getting into the semis.
|
so there wont be a savior vs bisu final ??!! just a semi-final ??
|
United States7488 Posts
On October 28 2007 12:35 ray1234 wrote: why is ggplayout going 0-2 while rock is still in but is also 0-2?
GGPlay can get one win at most, but there is already one player in the group with two wins, and then the winner between Bisu and Shudder will also have two wins, making it impossible for GGPlay to advance.
Rock on the other hand can get one win at most, but if Savior loses and Rock wins for the last two matches then three players would be 1-2 in that group and have a playoff for the final spot, such a situation could not occur in Group A.

There could be if Savior loses to flash and frozean beats the rock and the only comes second in the tiebreaker, then they will be on different sides of the bracket. However Savior would likely need to overcome a ZvZ with Jaedong to get to the finals and Bisu will have to pass two terrans to get to the finals. So the odds don't seem so high.

Just speculating:
If next week Bisu > Shudder which is most likely, Iris > Light which is most likely, and Rock > Frozean which is likely on a P imba map, the Ro8 will look like this:
Up vs Jaedong Stork vs Savior
Flash vs Light Bisu vs Iris
The key to this OSL will be how Bisu plays against the terrans. After his games vs Hwasin the terrans shuld realize that they need to cheese to beat him. If Bisu makes it through Iris, Light/Flash, the OSL is his for a fact. Unless Stork beats Savior this time.

Isn't it the quarter final?

It looks like Stork screwed himself over by beating Jaedong, since he'll most likely face Savior in the RO8.
Getting eliminated by Savior twice in a BO3 in the same season = no thnx.

Would be kind of similar to Hwasin getting eliminated by Bisu every season.

i just think starcraft is more vulnerable, because you can have a draw where an eliminated player can help a teammate (or friend) a lot by tossing a game. that can't really happen in most pro sports.
eliminated players should at least be playing for a dual league seed or something..
[edit: shortened it]

Well, there we have to go by trusting the players' sense of sportsmanship and professionalism.

So only Sea, Jaedong, and Stork have been confirmed for the quarterfinals so far? I thought there were more.

Sea's not even in the OSL RO16, and I don't think that MBC has infiltrated the OGN headquarters, so I'm going to have to say that Sea will not be in the quarterfinals.
Those who are qualified for sho' include: Upmagic as A1 Light A1 if he beats Iris, A2 if he loses to Iris Stork C1 Jaedong C2
That is all.

I'm also pretty terrified of what will happen to Savior in his, I think the chance of Flash + Frozean advancing is actually very high.

why we have a bracket tournament for MSL and not one for OSL
this round of 8 is pretty interesting, but maybe lower the prize because this is not ro16 but ro8
It will be entertaining ??!!!
what do you think ??
|
holy shit bisu has one fucking hard run to the finals. he'll surely be disappointed after the msl, but let's see if he can bring his a game.
|
awwwww...
savior got bisu. =/
|
Savior has a 90% winrecord vs protoss since his last game vs bisu. Only 2 games he has lost have been in bo3s that he has won. A lot of his games have been against top players like stork and free so those 90% wins wernt noob bashing either. Saviors ZvT has been lacking lately but I have strong confidence in his ZvP. I think he has a good chance against bisu. He would have to face him in the final anyway.

Well, stork doesn't actually have the best PvZ, but yeah, I'm looking forward to it

How is it possible that Jaedong vs Up is played twice on Persona? This is like an auto win for Jaedong. Was Up not allowed to thumb down a map? Or did he honestly thumb down another map than Persona?
