Here's how it works:
1) Each Liquibet Ladder "season" will be comprised of a single season of the OnGameNet leagues (ie Challenge league, Duel Tournament and Starleague), the KPGA league and all Liquibition and Liquid tournaments in between. The whole thing should last approx 4 months altogether. Please, note tho that we may decide sometime in the future to include additional tournaments in the Liquibet Ladder, but for now this is it. (Sorry, Rek, can't include your "Dan's Two-Player SC Invitational.")
2) Point your mouse to this site's Liquibet section and start picking the winners for the upcoming matches. The more winners you correctly pick in advance, the higher your Liquibet Ladder score gets. It's so simple even Bush can't get it wrong!
3) Each of the respective tournaments used to score your Liquibet rating (ie the OGN leagues, the KPGA league and all Liquibitions and Liquid tournaments) will have their own unique point system. For example, the OGN leagues go like this:
- Challenge League: 1 point for each player that advances into the Duel Tournament, 2 points for each player who goes through to the Challenge League Championship match, plus 4 points for correctly choosing the winner of the Challenge League. So, the maximum number of points for the CL is 20 (12 + 4 + 4)
- Duel Tournament: 1 point for each player that advances into the next Starleague (ie max 12 points)
- Starleague: 1 point for each correct guess of the winners each week during the round of 16 and 8 (ie max 4 points each week, unless we have tie-breakers, in which case even more points will be up for grabs). At the semi-final level, it will be 4 points for guessing the winner (ie 4+4 = 8 points max). For the final, the winner brings in a whopping 8 points (basically worth the same in points as correctly guessing all the winners in two weeks of round robin Starleague play).
4) Sit back and watch as your Liquibet rating soars and your phone rings off its hook from all the congratulatory calls from adoring fans and foreign dignitaries alike! KEWL!
5) At the end of the Liquibet season, we total up all the points scored by participants and crown a Liquibet theorycraft champion! (Prizes, if any, to be determined!)
We'll have additional info on the point system for the other leagues and tournaments soon. Also, we may tweak the scoring system later on: it's all about BALANCE, remember? Anyway, watch for news and updates on Liquibet here and in our Articles Section!

Basic Liquibet strat for ONG groups of 4.
Let's assume each player gets a 50% chance of winning a game.
If you vote for 2 players who play their first game against each other, you have 2/16 odds of getting 2 Liquibet points, 12/16 of getting 1 point and 2/16 of getting 0 point.
But if you vote for 2 players who don't play their first game together, then you have 3/16 odds of getting 2 points, 10/16 of getting 1 and 3/16 of getting 0.
So if you want to assure yourself a warm spot in the middle of the pack, you should always bet for two players who will play against each other for their first game. But if you want to take some risks (and have a chance to be in the driver's seat), you'd better not.

Something is wrong in it.
I got 1 point for every bet, for ex. I voted incorrectly for Challenge League group B and got 1 point, I voted correctly for group C and also got 1 point...

A good thing to add would be maybe a overall Liquibet thread that you can access only from the liquibet tab/button. This way people can just post general thoughts about current liquibet champs or current players etc without having to dig through each liquibet's thread.
I was thinking of this because I don't know who this Fen guy is (or some of the others top betters) and I didn't want to make a thread somewhere else.
This thread will be a huge ongoing and eventually have a billion pages like the 10 commandments thread or whatever.

I think its great that TL has transfered liquibet to the gsl. I enjoy betting on games as i feel it makes things very interesting. I have one problem however. On 2010 Sony Ericsson GSL Season 2: Round of 32 Day 1. I got every bet right however there were no pints awarded for correct votes. My votes were done on time and they were all correct. Gimme My Points.

I don't believe you're allowed to change your vote once its cast.
Question though: In my statistics it says i have 53 points in LB1, but on the rankings it only casts me with 52 points, which hurts my rankings by like 25-35 ranks. How do I get that fixed.

I have the same problem, but it became better.
A few weeks ago i had two points less in the rankings than in "my stats", now its "only" one point.
I suppose in two or three weeks i have more points in the ranking compared to "my stats". 
There were two or three games last week, which were printed wrong in the Index, but now the games are deleted, which means they are not counting towards the rankings i assume. However, i think that caused some point differences between "my stats" and the rankings.

Just pointing out that some maps aren't shown in liquibet. Such as ForGG vs perfectman, the map is Dante's Peak, but it's not in the usual spot. Small nitpick

Question: What is the vote for when there's multiple choice? I simply picked the 2 players i thought would win, but then why is there normal votes for the same players beneath it if you had just voted for them already?

When there's multiple choice, then it means it's group play. In a group of four, you're selecting the 2 players that you think are going to advance. Normal votes for same players beneath are for those specific games on those selected maps, typically the first two matches of each group.

Typically, if it's like less than a day before match and the LB isn't up, the LB just won't be posted. It's just not fair really to the betters who might not have had a chance to bet on that match. If there's any future SC2 LB issues, feel free to contact CaucasianAsian.

Hi I'm wondering when the current sc2 lb will end? If that isn't official will there be like a 1 month warning before it does? I'm currently 13th on the SC2 LB and would definitely change the way I vote if I knew the LB season was ending.

However, in GSL groups there are 4 players; you have to correctly pick both advancing players to get a Liquibet point. Even if you correctly pick 1 of the two winners, you still get nothing. You only have a 17% chance of success (1 in 6 odds).
...So why would anyone vote on GSL group stages? Am I missing something?

Actually, the odds are 1:4 if you look at the matches below the group (thereby eliminating the possibilities that BOTH players advance after a match). Still not as good as 1:2, but a little better than 1:6.

I wanted to create a new thread in the website feedback forum (just so you get how important that is to me ) but the search button brought me here.
For the first time I am good at liquibet (BW) and all the points that havent been inserted yet would catapult me even more near the top (14/18 points that have allready been played but not added) - so I might even increase my current rank, 29. Come on, I make a screenshot every time I get better and I even made a folder for it to show my grandchildren one day and brag to my friends in times to come. Every time there is an argument I will bring out the screenshot where I am top 30 (maybe top 15 ? top 10 ? WHO KNOWS ??) and I will be king for one minute. Worth it.

I have a question with the rankings. Once everyone is broken up by score, is the (relative) tie-breaker the amount of posts on TL? It seems like the high posters are listed first. Not that it makes much difference, but just curious!

I've noticed that the maps in SC2 liquibet link to the BW TLPD instead of the SC2 TLPD. I know its a small thing, but its been that way for a while and it would be nice if they linked correctly. Don't know if you knew about this already or not.

Now that a new season started, will we be seeing the toplist for various events and for the GSL Code A/Code S seasons? It'd be great to see a lot of different categories (who picked the best in up/down matches, who picked the winner, who had the most points in specific events).
I'd love to get on one of those lists, you could make one just for me.

You can only see the polls after the results are posted (on Liquibets). It hasn't been updated for a bit so that's why you can't see the polls for the games that took place after October 2nd.

I dunno if this has been suggested before or if anyone even reads this thread anymore, but a nice thing to see after winner has been posted would be % amount of all votes that picked the correct winner.
Like: you picked X, x won (89% of votes) or something along those lines. Would be nice to be able to gauge upsets/underdogs winning.

The RO8 matches Between MVP Vs Nestea Are missing from Liquidbet i Pm'ed 'MasterOfChaos' About this a few hours ago; because someone said in IRC chat he was the go to person to contact about this.
The matches are an hour away from Starting just wondering ; because since i can't see the Match-ups for RO8 about to occur in an hour noone will be able to vote on them or has been able to for the last few hours!.

I started liquibets when i registered on tl, which is not that long ago actually, but it stills says I didn't get any points, everything is a 0 except for the number of missed votes. I don't really care, I am just asking out of curiosity.

The only leagues that I follow the matchups of every player is Code S and to a degree Code A (at least more so nowadays). I have been completely fucked over this season in liquibet for Code S, every other season has been 60-65% ~.
Is it possible to find a list of people's ranks who ONLY bet on all of them? I imagine there are people above me who have more points and less votes, and people below me who have voted on all the matchups, and I want to be able to distinguish those people. Kind of silly I guess but I like seeing how experienced betters play.

There are no SC2 Liquibets so far for the new season. I don't think I'll add any until the next GSL Season starts. There's no event going on that merits them so far.

Howcome liquibet died out? Really irregular posting of bets nowadays and lackluster updates.
Is it intended to not make use of it anymore? Or is the person in charge really busy with other activities? I always LOVED doing liquibets and would really much like it if it would go back to regular business.

and this is just one example of many equally confusing similarities, its as if, picking the winner or the loser most of the time doesnt matter?

I think it's a little funny, too. I don't always pay that much attention to point spreads, though, so I'm not sure it's any different this season.

Why didn't we get points for the Code A predictions of this season? I got 3/4 and all show 0 points, that can't be right, right?

Damn I did not realize like 15 liquibet polls were going to be posted for same night and count as points.. I just missed all of those and I was top 3 in liquibet. I thought usually if they are posted the day of the event they dont count as points just votes... at least in the past. I came a bit to late to vote on any of the games because they all lock at the start of the first.. Is there anyone to petition to change the point values?

Jesus, I've always spent a lot of time thinking about on whom I should put my bets. The recent couple of weeks/months I've been busy doing other stuff though and basically just voted for the hell of it. Glanced at "your stats" just now found a 5, thinking it was my current streak or something. "Sweet!" I thought and went over to the top list. Wat. I'm at number 5? I seriously don't know what to make of this lol.

Top 100, I don't even really feel I know the players or teams that well lol just lucky picks I guess...(picking zerg more frequently helps too i suppose? lol)

Why don't the GSL Code A Day 1 games for Feb. 5th count for any points? Both sessions have the point totals set at 0 while tomorrow's Code A Day 2 games are 1 point each?

Are there any glitches in the point system? There might be some issues, because points are lost or not be given or something. I wonder.
For example , in my case: My personal points are 264, but in ranking I am 134th with 258 points. Now in case for example I had 264 points I would have been 54th in ranking (that is a difference). So I was wondering if anybody else has a similar case, or/and an idea of what might be the problem.

is the liquidbet system still working? Ive won bets but while it says i should get the points for them, it doesnt give u the points. And now that ive exhausted my initial startup points, i can no longer bet on matches cuz my winnings werent delivered. Not a big deal i guess but it'd be cool to use this feature. Thanks in advance for anyone who wastes their time reading this lol. Hopefully it works soon 4me peace
