Okay. So I am probably the most shy person in existence. I have very little confidence talking to anyone I don't know. That, coupled with the fact that my Korean speaking skills are pretty terrible, are reasons why I thought I'd never get a chance to approach any of my favorite k-pop idols or SC players. The one time I managed to get into a 2NE1 fansigning, my mind went blank and all I could do was squeak out a thank you and run away. When it comes to progamers, I could barely do any better. Even though the managers are much friendlier and open to pictures with fans and giving autographs than the K-pop group managers, who never let you do anything, I never had the courage to go up and ask for a photo or autograph.
But today, I guess the heavens felt sorry for me and lady luck was mine.
After the IEF games finished, I followed a huge group of little boys to the press tent, where Bisu was holding a mini fansign. I got in line and obtained an autograph with very little effort on my part. But at the end, I stayed behind to try asking for a picture. I was about to hand my camera to Coach Park, when two girls cut in front of me and got their pictures taken first. Afterwards, I guess Coach Park decided that was enough and dragged Bisu away back to the player's tent, before I could muster up the voice to ask him. All I could think was, why couldn't I be assertive like that? I should learn to push people aside to get what I want as well
Anyway I thought that was my last chance gone to waste, so I started leaving to go check out Rain's concert in Kangnam. Halfway out the park, I JUST so happened to run into Stork, who had left earlier right after the game. At that point, I was struggling with whether or not I should stay and get some more photos or just leave for the concert. Eventually I changed my mind and followed Stork back inside, but he too disappeared into the players' tent. I sighed and stared around aimlessly, and was about to leave again.
Then randomly, some Korean guy next to me asked me if I was a foreigner. I told him I was an exchange student, and we started chatting (it was really hard; he couldn't speak English and my Korean is, as mentioned, pretty awful). He asked me if I was a fan of the girls performing on stage, and I told him I was here for Kim Taekyong and Song Byungoo. He pointed to the tent, where Stork and Bisu just emerged together and asked me if I had gotten a picture with them yet. I told him I didn't know how to ask. Then he pulled me towards them and asked if they would take a picture with me. I was so embarrassed, but they were cool with it. Stork actually thought I only wanted one with Bisu and moved away, but then I pulled him by the arm towards us xD
God I'm so short compared to them ;~;
So yeah. I'm so happy I decided to stay, so ecstatic that I got to meet my two favorite players, and grateful that a Korean was so kind and hospitable to a foreigner that he just came up to me and decided to help me for no reason. + Show Spoiler +
And that Bisu beat Stork, because winners usually stay to do fansignings while the loser leaves early, and I already had Stork's autograph >< sorry Stork!
Woohoo, autographs! 3rd one is Jangbi's, which I got on Friday at the Samsung Khan fansigning ^^ My desk looks like some kind of Protoss shrine right now LOL
Go here for the rest of the photos I took tonight.
