also dragon talon kicksin u dont ned to max BoS wtf -_- kicksin will bel ike this. reach lvl 18 Dtalon, or 24, or 26 iirc. because 4 kicks, 5 kicks, and 6 kicks respectively. although u can just get it to max for the attack rating bonus. then u need to max venom. the bonus dmg doesnt show on char screen but it does apply. then just learn death sentry 1-20 points. shadow master 20 points will give u a really good tank. gear will revolve aroudn getting at least 50% crushing blow and using a pair of elite boots, minimum of 'boneweave boots' type best options are upgraded goreriders 'warboots' -> 'myrmidon greaves' if you've heard of uber tristram on bnet this is the build that can take those uber bosses down. | ||

go to diii.net single player section and check out the whacky builds some of the people do like melee necro. the most weird build i have is a zeal assassin (wielding 'passion' runeword cryptic sword lol its awesome) but its one of my more geared out chars | ||

If you just want to play until nightmare I'd suggest playing the skelly/corpse explosion necro which somebody mentioned earlier. | ||

True you can't go past act 1 in hell but it's fun up until that... The most fun solo characters that i've tried are Pokeazons - Amazons but you can only use two handed spear-esque weapons! Runners - Assassin with max BoS. Focus on getting faster run/walk gear barbarians in general | ||

As far as your question, every class is perfectly capable of soloing Normal & Nightmare, it's Hell that will give you trouble. I think the best choice for soloing the entire game from scratch is a wind druid or a hammerdin paladin. | ||

I had a friend who had never played D2, so I got him into it and in turn, I hooked myself once again. This time however we played single player on /players 8 and played LAN when we wanted to do quests together, which wasn't often. Up until level 25 the hammers weren't useful, but at that point the game, your Act2 mercenary with a pike does most of the work anyway, especially with concentration. It comes into it's own very quickly and mana wasn't much of a problem either. You keep eight slots for health pots and eight for mana, it's not a problem really. By the beginning of nightmare I had already made an insight weapon for my merc and from then on mana wasn't much of a problem. Same applies with wind druids. I got both to 76 and hell difficulty before I called it quits. | ||
