I need to find a summer job for various and obvious reasons:
- I am poor - I am now 18, I need a working experience - I want to save money to either buy a car or go to Korea next summer - I need to use my summer time efficiently - Moar obvious reasons
Anyway, so I'm probably late compared to other people for finding a summer job, especially considering the economy these days. The world needs to go fast expand right now -_-
Where is the best place to find a job for my age and capabilities? I live in Virginia btw.
- 18 years old - HS Graduate (in a few days) - Microsoft Word / IC3 Certifications - Experience with web design, graphics design - Moderately fast typer? (120 WPM on that facebook type test thing)
I dunno if half that shit is useful at all but yeah. I preferably want to work with computers or technology and whatnot. I don't really want to pack groceries or do other physical labor. But I'll take whatever suggestions since I've got nothing to lose from listening =/
I am looking for the following information:
-websites that have good job listings (all the basic ones I find on google like jobseeker and shit are so bad...) -other sources to find jobs (I guess I should look at newspapers too) -pays for jobs if you have any recommendations -whatever else you can provide
Thanks~

Most of the website listings are for people with actual experience and not PT, limited skill help.
For your age, the best way to do it is just the old fashioned, door-to-door begging for a job, especially this late in the year. Don't be opposed to doing shitty jobs, because that's probably all you're gonna get at this point.

SnagAJob.com has part time/summer jobs. And yeah, use your local newspaper.

Fast food / mall job. Is it easy to get a job in the states with 0 work experience? You would be completly fucked in Canada.

go to a college campus and look around the bulletin boards, i see part time work for people all the time, most pay decently too.

Oo colleges... I should look into that
thanks guys who posted so far~

if you're really good in web/graphic design go to craigslist and search for web design jobs. There are plenty in nyc. Based on your low experience level it will be great to find a low or no stipend internship.
some other site i like using is monster.com and simplyhired.com

craigslist was actually a pretty good site, I think it's where I live which is the issue with not that many listings (northern VA) -_-
I'll be sure to check out the other sites. It's too bad so many of them require degrees in college ;_;

Have you ever been a cashier before? If not, you should try it! It's good to get used to money :3

Uh, 198 is moderately fast? If that's true, isn't that ridiculously fast?

I call BS on 198 wpm with any decent accuracy (i.e. 95-100%) thats an insane number.

You should have started looking quite a bit earlier. How good are you with graphics/web design? If you're pretty good, you can try freelancing. I don't have any experience so I don't how to find work as a freelancer. I suppose putting up ads and going door-to-door aren't bad.

You really won't get much work like this without being really good at it (and even then, someone who seriously wants a website is gonna go with a pro with experience over a kid with non).

Probably the best way to get your foot into the door in terms of staring up your job career is to talk to your immediate family and ask if any of them need a spot to be filled in any of their jobs. If that doesn't work go work in retail or something like an electronics store or busing at a restaurant. Those are all great possibilities to beginning jobs.

Moderately fast? 198 what the fuck? That's like fucking insane speed. Go work as a typist. If you're anywhere accurate with 198, you could make a good profession as a typist.

LOOOOOOOOOOL oops Sorry guys this was at school when I didn't have access to my FB. I double checked and it seems I got mixed up with the "you are faster than 98% of facebook". It's actually only 120 haha -_-;
I guess it's still "moderately fast?" ;_;
