thats an insane number.

LOOOOOOOOOOL oops
Sorry guys this was at school when I didn't have access to my FB. I double checked and it seems I got mixed up with the "you are faster than 98% of facebook". It's actually only 120 haha -_-;

I guess it's still "moderately fast?" ;_;

Yeah 120 is quite fast if you can do it accurately and consistently.

Does your city have it's own job-finder website?
120 wpm is really fast unless you memorized the sentence.

Whole Foods is a great place to work, I used to work there back in the day.

Starting baggers make about $11/hour, not bad for a first job and no real experience. Being picky about what you want to do is not a good attitude for finding a job to be honest, I first started cleaning up the meat department when I was 15.
Im pretty good at whistling with my hands, especially when Im holding a whistle.

I've been looking for a job too. In the likely event you find nothing, I highly recommend volunteering. I don't mean habitat for humanity or any of that, but I mean offering your services in an environment where you would get paid. Basically, you go and "work" for experience and references. Offer your services for free to a web design company--why would they refuse? It's better than sitting at home playing sc.

Complete and utter bullshit. But, your suggestion isn't bad :D

120 is pretty fast. When I type as fast as I can I can only do about 150 word per minute with 97-99% accuracy, and I've practiced my typing ever since I was like 5 years old.

Some options
Craigslist
Find your region and look under jobs. You could search something like "Research Associate" or "Desk Assistant". They like to hire younger people that can type and are familiar with computer work.

What county do you live in Virginia? Find your county's website and there should be a section called "Employment" or "Careers" that list jobs. There should be at least one or two that match you. Try look at neighboring county's websites too.

Do you have college plans? If you were a strong student in high school, you could contact professors in the department you plan to major in College and see if you can find a paid undergraduate research job for the summer. My girlfriend did this and she worked full time during the summer for $10/hour at Chemistry research.

Have you considered working at a call center of some sort? Do you speak a foreign language? If you do, you should search (for example Korean) on Craigslist. Usually there's a position or two for translators/telecommunicators who will make phone calls in the foreign language. That's definitely a market-able skill.

Do you have ANY previous work experience?

I'm getting off work I have to drive home, but I have more ideas, when I get home I'll post.

go to a college campus and look around the bulletin boards, i see part time work for people all the time, most pay decently too.

Most of those are either for research or assistant positions, or are pyramid schemes.

Yep micronesia, I just got home. I drive around 4 hours to work and back daily. (Just Kidding, I got distracted)

Another thing you could consider is enrolling in automotive classes at a local community college. Usually those things come with apprentice programs that you can immediately enroll into working at auto repair shops as a apprentice earning a low wage and slowly working your way up while learning the skills at the community college. In this bad economy the demand for auto mechanics is greater than ever since people choose to fix their cars instead of buying new cars.

Do you by any chance have a car you can use/borrow for the moment, maybe even from your parents? You could try getting some courier job, using your own/borrowed car. A company probably would not hire an 18 year old to drive their company cars though (Insurance would probably be too expensive).

It would be helpful to know what your plans are for after the summer. Will you be going to college?

I don't think you will find anything above retail at the age of 18 and going for a summer job. Apply for a position like loss prevention or pricing and signing in a retail store or something if you don't want to help customers.

Thanks for the detailed response. Yeah I am bilingual in English and Korean so I guess that could help. I guess Craigslist and colleges are my best options for now..

Thanks everyone :3

Have you considered working in a national park, or for the forest service?

https://www.avuecentral.com/

Worth a shot to put your app into it. Jobs can range from biology internships and timber calculations, to park management and fire services.

EDIT: You could set your area to national and if you get a position they usually have bunk houses for their employees all around the U.S.
