Tasteless has updated his blog with the 2nd in a long series of posts about Starcraft competitive keyboard tips & tricks:
I've said this before and I’ll say it again right now. Starcraft is the hardest game ever made. There is no game that requires so much focus and dedication to improve at. There are so many secrets, tricks and techniques to master; many of which are almost impossible to figure out unless you're training with groups of people. This is one of the reasons why the Koreans are the best, they all train in the same room. They'll have group meetings discussing everything from strategy, to mechanical techniques to the psychological mind set that one must be in, in order to perform properly on stage.
One thing that non-Koreans struggle with is they often master some techniques and miss others. This isn't because they're stupid or not training enough; this game is just too much for one person alone to figure out. I want to start teaching you techniques that will give you a huge advantage.
We're going to focus on mechanics and how to start using your keyboard like a Korean ProGamer. I've been playing Starcraft competitively for almost nine years now.
I’ve traveled around the world and watched the best of the best duke it out, but there was something that I found quite shocking. Players from different parts of the world use different hotkey setups.
Now bare in mind that Starcraft is a game that at times requires 300 APM to play. Obviously there has to be a right and a wrong way to use your keyboard just like there's a right and wrong way to hold a golf club.
This guide is going to be several blog posts long because I want to go in depth. I will be focusing this hotkey setup using Protoss but the advice i give you can help you figure out you're own best hotkey setups for Terran and Zerg.

its gonna be hard work for protoss to configure their keyboards... cuz they gotta dig ALMOST every single key out...

Tasteless is advocating his own hotkey setup.
Should add that lots of protosses, especially koreans, use 3 4 and 5 as hotkeys for nexus' and click to build probes.
You could argue that moving your left hand to 9 and 0, and then back to it's default position, wastes more time than just moving your mouse cursor to the probe box, cycling through 3, click, 4, click; the entire time being in the right position with your left hand for microing scouting probes, armies or corsairs.
But I can see that the 9p0p would be beneficial for a noob trying to learn basic techniques.

Lots of Ps don't use that hotkey set up. So far the only thing he's said that is true is to buy cheap keyboards. Not so you can rip keys out and be unable to type like some retard, but because theres no real difference and cheap ones are easier to replace

Tasteless had a huge argument with Nony here in TL (before korea happened to either of them) about their hotkeys, Nony thought that clicking the probe icon is okay and tasteless was against that idea and how the koreans would laugh at doing so.
Now I wonder if Nony was actually laughed at and taught the "proper" way of doing it or if its just up to preference? I have noticed many progamers hotkeying their nexuses to somewhere around 1-5 and it just does not make sense to do so if you're pressing P for probes.

I know bisu uses 4 for nexus and presses P for probes. He also doesn't hotkey his natural nexus. He uses an F key to his natural and selects the nexus and press P

Nah, it was not a huge argument. It was along like lines of nony and me telling tasteless that what he was putting forth as capital "t" Truth about keyboard usage was more like little "t" truth.
Sure you can make the argument that it does not make sense to use other than 09 for nexus since it is close to p. Or the argument can be made that it does not make sense to move your hand around so much between 0nexus and 1units when you can use 4nexus and 1unit. When you look at the actual practice...no top player uses 09 nexus anymore.

Tasteless should launch his own Pro Starcraft keyboard line

I really wish he did these faster. Blog like once a day, not once every month and a half :/

Reeeeeeeally basic stuff so far, but I'm looking forward to the later editions. Might help me out.

mmm
for me the start with a certain hotkey setup then it gradually changes into something else
iono i think if u have a sheet of paper w/ numbers from 1 to 9 and 0 then whenever u play just write down how you start and how u end and the middle where u think it's important...that should be good enoguh to tel lu want hotkeys r rite for u
cus ppl have diff hand size so it's pretty hard to just say do x and the end
