Turning on enhanced mouse precision means that you're turning on acceleration. Personally, I like acceleration off because it feels more accurate that way.

This doesn't make sense, when I turn it on my mouse pointer moves faster.
I think I have it enabled on my desktop (which is what I play bw on).

Oh right that's why.

I have a variable dpi setting, so for more precision I just lower the dpi (down to about 600 I believe), usually I just keep it at about 800 for SC:BW. Then for higher res games it is usually at 1600.

Ive always been using it. For some reason i just can't aim without it, I don't know if i became dependant on it. When i take it off it becomes all jerky and my pointer goes all over the place -__-

I don't use it, but that's only because I've never turned it on ever in my life after all the gaming I've been through. I tried turning it on and it feels weird to me. Whether or not it makes you more precise is debatable, because I'm sure you're as accurate with either option depending on which one you've been using the longest or are most used to.

I used to have it enabled. But half a year back I decided to try turning it off. It took a couple of weeks of getting used to but now I clearly prefer having it disabled.

Enhanced precision feels like the pointer accelerates during fast movements and decelerates (more than usual) when moving slowly.

No mouse acceleration is obviously the more efficient option. If you feel otherwise it's only because you're unaccustomed to it. It's scientific fact(for some definition of science, ie. complete assumption.)

Usually, mouse acceleration is more used for FPS because it gives a more realistic aiming (faster to go further, etc.) though I have heard many play with it off. It could give no advantage.
But in the case of RTS, like StarCraft, you are playing on one screen, and it will stay the same size, and everything will have the same general magnitude in distance, size, etc. For this, one scale for moving your mouse is far more precise.

Understatement. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a competitive FPS player who uses mouse acceleration.

No pro cs player plays with mouse acceleration that I've ever heard of, and I'm sure it would be noted if they did. Mouse accel sucks and I'm pretty sure pro sc players would play with it off as well.

I don't think you can enhance precision, the most important aspect is making sure your hand moves accurately as you want it to be.

I don't think acceleration makes much of a difference in any RTS, even Starcraft. However I keep it off for when I play FPS.

agreed. never even heard of the feature actually but my pointer doesn't accelerate when I move it, and I can't imagine playing properly if it did. All these years of micro have paid off where I don't need such a feature ;D

One of the epic fails (among many) in Unreal Tournament 3 is that it uses mouse acceleration by default, with no way to turn it off in the UI (you have to edit config files). What the hell were they thinking?

wait, can anyone DEFINE what the ACTUAL DIFFERENCE is? Is the previous definition correct? the mouse moves further if it moves faster?

You can get probably used to acceleration in starcraft, but i never liked it in Fps games so it's always off for me.I can't play with it turned on.

Yes.
It's obviously better to have this on since you usually drag faster when you want to move further (and would then speed up). But it takes a really long time to learn it so you can be accurate with it.

As far as I know it's not indicated for SC at all, so I don't use it. I have a 1600 dpi Razor Krait, it works superbly and I don't feel like it needs any improvement at all precision or speed-wise.

basically a mouse with many DPI will be capable of moving extremely fast, and since DPI is actually the laser resolution (correct me if I'm wrong) it will have excellent precision, especially at mid-lower speeds (the speeds you'll use, because a mouse of 1600 dpi for example will move way too fast at max default-windows speed). You can set the speed so that it's comfortable, and you most likely have as much precision as you want. Enhance Precision and Acceleration are not really useful imo

Yeah I've unchecked 'mouse precision' now. But damn, it's either too fast or too slow, and it goes crazy in Starcraft

Sigh..hasn't anyone seen this?

http://counterstrikesourcetactics.blogspot.com/2008/05/delights-muscle-memory.html

Accelleration will stop you from gaining muscle memory (since the same action twice does not move the same distance).

Some professional Quake 3 players (like cooller, for example) used very low accelleration, to the point that it was insignificant, unless he flicked his mouse rapidly to do a 180 or something (because he has low sensitivity).

TL;DR DON'T EVEN FUCKING THINK ABOUT USING ACCELLERATION
