I don't know how other people do it, but last week I had vacation. I overextended myself a tad too much by playing a whopping 60 hours of starcraft. Now this week, I can't think straight in class, can't do my homework(busy NOT doing my homework), and I can't even play starcraft correctly either. When this happens to you guys, what do you do? Right now I feel really bad like I did alot of drugs last week and now this week I didn't do any and now I'm getting this withdrawal feeling sort of....so help?
Do I play more starcraft, take a break, or try to wait this thing out?

Also, does this have anything to do with getting a new icon? I'm a corsair now instead of a dragoon

Force yourself to do your homework and concentrate in class, then when you get free time to play starcraft it will be even more fun. Like a fine dinner after you've been starving all day.

The wierdest thing is, I can't actually force myself to do it. When I want to try to get my book to do some homework, I tend to find myself browsing through TL and Facebook lol

Welcome to my life.

You must force yourself away from TL in order to do anything.

Stay away from starcraft and sleep a lot until your mind clears up. Starcraft uses a lot of your brain energy. After a session of sc, I get so tired out. It's true that it's really hard to concentrate after playing a lot of sc.
Oracle comes in, Scvs go down, never a miscommunication.

Disconnect yourself from the internet. Eventually you should have enough self control to avoid internet browsing in theory, but in practice I can't get help it either. Disconnecting the internet always does the trick for me.

Lol Race its me Caffeine, you actually BLOGGED this? Wow lol...

Anyway try anime same effects of SC only:
1)You don't get stressed
2)Not tiring
3)Relaxing

Then you only need to find out how to stop your addiction to anime....

i dont get it

were you asking for more or less than you were being given

cuz 60 hours a week is about 8 a day which i thought was the standard practice time for a pro gamer (could be wrong?)

I had this problem and possibly played more , i accumalted over 500 games in maybe a month and half. This was due to the fact of being laid off and i hadnt played the game in over 2 years so i had a lot of time .What got me to stop playing was setting a goal (get to c-) and since i accomplish that and i am afraid to lose it so i rarely play now. So accomplish something and you will feel like u will need to play less and do what actually needs to get done first ur school work or w/e.

i remember a thread where the op told how to "save your life" or something and he gave instructions for coding your internet browser so that it can't navigate to to TL. Couldn't find it though. Will continue looking.

^ By the way. That is some severe addiction to TL.

In college I used to close direct connect, irc, etc until I got work done because it was so distracting (especially since people beeped me every other minute I swear)

I'm having the same problem but not Starcraft specifically, just the computer. I find if I set certain times I'm going to get on (morning and night) and specific things I'm going to do (check email, read forum etc) then it's easier to control. Today I'm sick and I've been on the computer pretty much all day I have no self discipline.

When I've been playing way, way, way too much. I just take like 4 or 5 days off. Do other things, get my mind off the madness for a week or so at least. Right now I've only been playing on request anyway because of how much school and work I've got.

I dont see how a temp ban does anything at all except piss you off for not being able to reply to all the shit you read.

On a related note, massing SC all day does make you feel like you just came down off some drugs. I played for about 5-6 hours yesterday basically nonstop.
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

Bans do nothing unless you are banned from viewing the site. I got myself temp banned before some tests, and I just ended up lurking -_-

I spent probably 30-35 hours on SC when I had the time T.T

Now probably down to 10.

When I had my ban I couldn't reply to threads, so I felt no point in listening to what everyone had to say in that thread because I wasn't a part of it. There was no need for me to Open up TL and see who responded after me anymore. Of course I still lurked slighty, not nearly as much. It helped a lot for me.

Ya, I don't really see a point in requesting temp bans because you'll just end up lurking. Practice self-discipline and do your homework... unlike me. I need to fix my habits as well.

Ask for a 1 week temp ban, start exercising and most of all, take a break from playing. You should be okay after that ^^

Have someone already on your computer, preferably someone bigger. I remember for my midterms not long ago, I told my brother to use my computer. Of course, he has his, but his sucks so much it lags while loading starcraft.

I was able to study calmly while he played on my computer.

Yeah I have dealt with your problem before. Best thing is to admit that you won't be a gosu anytime soon, and put starcraft behind school/family/friends/gf, etc. Put starcraft behind all the important things. Works out better and you will have more fun when you do finally play.
