I finally finished all my finals and had some time to wind down, so I started playing iccup yesterday. In the previous 2 seasons I finished C-. However, whenever I reached C- I kept consistently losing and was never able to get higher than 3200. I had a win percentage of like 40 something in both these seasons. This year my goal was to reach C
I played 13 games so far and have a record of 10-3. This puts me at the D+ with 2060 points. I think I have only played 1 game with a protoss and mostly pvz's on colosseum.
I finally stopped being lazy and getting used to the new maps. After watching and playing a few games on colosseum and byzantium, I think I have a pretty good idea about the metagame things. My 3 losses all came to zergs 2 were koreans and the is 17-2 at C- and reached A- last season, so no biggy there.
Some things I know I need to work on are my battle micro and midgame timings in all matchups. Oh ya, I'm a p user of course. I really need to get everything hotkeyed up and bind my units together for the big battle. Also, I have a lot of trouble against lurker spore, I think I should just hotkey my obs to 0 or something and micro them seperately is the best way.
I need to bring my apm up a bit as well as these other things, but it will all come with good practice. So yeah, D plus is definitly not gonna be a breeze, and I will see if I am ready for C- this season.
I am also wondering if I should try the stamina tournament or whatever even though there is no way I will qualify. Anyway, I figure this is better than a girl blog, so I will update this every day or two.

At your level against sunken spore lurker the best thing to do is just back off and take the map. Zerg is basically dictating that he wants this game to be a longer one and trying to break his contain will probably just mean you will lose cause you don't have progamer micro and multi-tasking. Continue to pump units and expand and just defend until you have a large economy. Also add reavers to the mix and cannon up everywhere (you can probably expect a lot of drops coming your way when zerg does strategies like these).
When a zerg does this strategy you should realize that he will not have as many attacking units and will mostly be expanding and getting drones. Counter this also with upgrading and make sure to have plenty of observers around different parts of the map for scouting.
When you finally have a pretty strong economy and a lot defense and gateways I think it is a great idea to just go for his main base with your reavers as back up in case he counters elsewhere.

I found out the hard way that spending some time figuring out FE placements on new maps will save you a lot of trouble later.

go 2 stargate sair every pvz, seriously when it comes to (most, not all) lower level zergs we just dont have it in us to fend off 12-15 sairs, after a few minutes he'll get disoriented and sit there frantically making overlords while you chew up his expos with DTs
storm drops too, harassment is the most important thing at the bottom of the ladder imo
edit: well not most important obviously but it gives you a huge edge to eco harass because drone balance is so hard for inexperienced players and mass, aggressive sairs are too much multitasking to handle

doesn't 2-4 hatch hydra break rape 2 gate sair?

most zergs that are newb just try n sit with lurekrs and try n expo like newbs so sairs rape them ez
however zergs that can adapt truck the shit out of it with 2sh3sh4sh5sh6sh ezpz it does own newbs tho
sorry to sound condescencing ;o

Thanks for all the help guys. Yeah a lot of the smarter zergs on colosseum go with the mass hydra build you see in pro games to counter sair/reaver a lot. I use this pretty much all in build sometimes on colosseum, which is 5 gate speed zealots basically. Free used it its viable at close positions I think. I guess its good to know a build order like that, but it shouldn't be relied on. My reaver/sair is pretty bad, so sometimes I try 1-3 sairs into dt or sometimes even delay dts a bit to get a speedzeal archon timing attack going after getting 1 sair to scout.
I kind of struggle with the sair/reaver but I can give it a try with the 2 stargate variety like was mentioned. I like the idea of 12 plus 1 sairs having complete control over the skies I must say.
My pvt is pretty good relatively besides sometimes having difficulty engaging the push when it is set up right with mines and turrets. I need to get better following up a reaver build with good macro. I can watch some JF replays to get caught up on that. PvP I can tell my builds and strategy are better than my mechanics becuase I really struggle sometimes
And yes with massgaming and thinking about these things as well as improving my scouting I really think I can reach at least C in a few weeks.
Edit: If anyone wants to practice or help me out I have the same name on iccup and west. Thanks for all your advice already though.
