First of all what does this phrase mean (Korean? is It?). Keep in mind that she is Chinease and knows just some korean. And that the phonetics may different from reality ;o
Oba sa dan heyo
An Asian girl told me this and didn't want to translate 2AM in the morning.
EDIT: "Oppa, sarang haeyo" which translates to "I love you" -thank you
Anyway, here is the full story.
I have always adored asian girls. Yes, because of Starcraft at first. but secondly because of their hot bodies and politeness. And they looked untouchable for me. They always form a foreign Asian community and reaching into it is very hard.
But today (Halloween) I have actually met one Asian girl with a Spanish friend at the Union Bar. We ended up partying with my two friends (males) at this club until like 1AM.
Two hours walk later, and we are hugging and holding hands until she gets to her bike (to go for a 40 minutes ride to her accomodation omg).
Anyway here are the facts:
-She is here since three months ago. Went out once.
-She is so fucking polite. A guy was harrasing her in a club, grabbing her etc (norm in Scotland ;o), but she didn't even show him that she doesn't enjoy it and she GAVE HIM HER REAL NUMBER. (she addmited she really hated the guy later).
-Korean girls at Starleague are shy. Jing (her name) told me (after I walked her) that Chinease girls sometimes kiss after THREE YEARS from being with a guy.
-She is so adorable, likeable, hot and polite that I you can't but love her. Idea of watching chinease martial arts films with her is so hot. And I want to know more about their culture etc.
-Her English is very good (much better than of my french roomies), and she studies third year of Economics and Finance (I do 2nd year Business Studies)
Anyway, I want some feedback from you guys. Did you ever go out with an Asian (chinease) that is in a foreign country (for a very short time)? Should try to push her towards the Scottish etiquette?
And obviously, please help me with the phrase. I believe in you TL!

If she were Korean, I would mistake the phrase to be "Oppa, sarang haeyo" which translates to "I love you"
|
sounds like korean to me, not chinese, but Im not exactly fluent
|
lol....the blog is kinda sad imo but I'll try and help you out.
It sounds like something korean especially the ' dan heyo ' cuz thats usually ' doing ' or a verb in Korean.
I'm taking intro to chinese and I just asked a chinese friend and it doesn't mean anything in mandarin. Also please spell chinese correctly, it might help if the girl really is chinese.
Make sure you heard it right would be my suggestion. Oba san doesn't really mean anything that I can think of in korean.
|
can't be chinese for sure
|
Oh yeah, I was not sure because I was drunk.
But we were talking about Korean so it is very likely. Also explains why she wouldn't tell me
|
Also explains why she doesn't know the phonetical spelling.
(She said she can watch some films in Korean. So she knows some Korean)

That's sounds pretty much like a old-style Korean dialect to me, but that's the only Asian language I know.
It's either "You must not like [me? a woman? ] women" (this is a common Korean saying) or something like "You [we? how did she accent the A sound?] are closer with your male friend than us."
If you could record yourself saying it or accent it more carefully I could be more helpul

I was thinking more like sa lang he yo, or I love you.

i don't think there's any reason to think anyone else's experience with other asian women will necessarily translate.
i dated a girl once who was chinese, but raised in brazil, and was in her first year studying in the United States. we're getting married in january (nine years later). i don't know if that applies at all to your experience, since brazilians are culturally not all that similar to people who grew up in east asia.
but, as a general rule, i don't think you should have to "push her" in any direction. if you're really into her, i'd just try to play it cool. probably to her, in that environment, it feels like everyone else around is acting more forwardly than she's used to. she'd probably be happy to just chill out with someone without any pressure to act a certain way. just my 2c.

Oba sa dan heyo = I'm a dude
|
Your case sounds like a small case of Asian fetish that I know millions of other white guys have. Just learn to respect her culture and don't push her toward your Scottish etiquette and I'm sure she will have a fine time with you. Also, be prepared for cultural difference frustration and etc. I'm Korean and I have dated so many other non Korean Asian races (Vietnamese, Chinese/Taiwanese, Japanese) and I get frustrated that there is cultural difference that sometimes I just wish I would settle down with a Korean girl. Imagine how much difference there will be for you since you're more different. But in the end, learning to overcome cultural barrier is really rewarding and makes you feel like you're a much more understanding person.
And please...learn to spell Chinese correctly if you are really serious about getting with her

obaasan is grandmother in japanese lolol
if she TYPED this that would be really weird, but if she verbally said it and YOU transcribed it as "Oba sa dan heyo" then i think Leunal has it right on the dot.

Asian girls are rather troublesome, really. For a lot of reasons, I can definitely see that dating white girls would be easier, in general. It's just that I never really like white girls.
Even when it comes to Asian girls, I usually go for Chinese girls rather than Korean girls despite being Korean; it's complicated.

LOLOL thats great Freshtowers

Hahahaha. Anyways, I think you're making too much of a distinction between "asian" and "non-asian" categories of girls. Sure there are some general trends but you should probably get to know what she's like rather than all our combined experiences with asian women...
