So I don't know if any of you follow Bleach in Japan either by Dattebayo fansubs or just being able to speak Japanese, but yesterday was the end of the filler story arc before the plot picks back up along the comics. So in the "All New Captain Amagai Story Arc" there is this guy who replaced one of the other captains that left name Amagai. Long story short he was actually tring to kill the Captain Commander to avenge his father. So after ichigo whips the shit out of him every other effing character shows up and they are all like "btw he didn't kill your father." So the dude goes cold up and kills himself. Now this is a Y-7 show. That's fucked up. I'm not sure I'm comfortable knowing that three out of four kids in Japan just saw a good guy kill himself on TV. That's bound to have some social repercussions in a few years. Any comments?

PS Goku's power lvl is at 9000!!!! and then he goes Bankai! Illustrate and discuss.

Bleach is a kids show?

I know some 28 year old dude who watches that show like its his life. Funny. I assumed it was some mature anime for teenagers and young adults.

Well part of them having a higher suicide rate probably is because of the old samurai tradition of seppuku and such. You know, killing yourself to preserve your honor and that.

Anyway, there are plenty of shows that depict violence, why is Bleach any different? I guess because it has a children's rating, but doesn't that just mean there's a problem with whoever rated it rather than the series itself? On top of that, I think most people who are going to kill themselves because they saw an anime character do it probably have some underlying causes as well. Oh and it's not like cartoons haven't been violent in the past, (Tom and Jerry) and there haven't been massive sweeping child related violence outbreaks.

Are you fucking kidding me?

People aren't committing harikiri or reading assholes like Mishima. These people grow up in a ridiculously rigid hierarchical society that doesn't accept minor failures and is obsessed with stupid trivial shit. It's a culture that breeds depression at an alarmingly high rate, and I don't think samurai virtues or cartoons have much to do with it, except that the people creating them are probably melodramatic themselves.

I remember watching some sick death scenes in Kamen Rider and that Fighter King cartoon though.

I think the suicide rates are high because of the crazy stressful middle school/high school/university system, where they dont get in and its like 200000000 hours of studying down the drain since Korea experiences high suicide rates as well and they have no such samurai tradition (not that i know of o_o)
