yo! i use my computer a lot for important things but my computer is not working.
the computer turns on but the problem i find is that any monitor hooked up to the computer does not work.
the monitor turns on, but its always in standby mode. im thinking it may be the power supply because the computer randomly shuts down or turns off too.
anybody know wats going on or had experienced this also?
it would be greatly appreciated if i could get any help. i have things on there that are really important to me, so i hope i dont have to reformat or get a new harddrive.

well the logical thing would be to look at the video card... you could try reseating it or getting a replacement to see if that is actually the problem

Yeah, make sure your video card is plugged in correctly, and the cord is plugged in both sides tight. Random computer shut downs can be a number of things from over heating to bad memory, something else going wrong, things not connected correctly, or even a virus. If you have another monitor or a friend with one try using it with your computer and see if that works. Its possible that your computer over heated too many times and your video card fried or just straight up died. How old is your computer? Do you have really high quality parts that would keep the computer really hot inside? (Processor, video card, high RPM HD)

for graphics card i have gforce 7600 gt and my computer is 2 years old.
i HAVe been having problems with my video card... it might be that like you guys mentioned.
also i think my power supply is not that great in comparison to the parts i have in the computer.. but it ran cool for like 2 years. why so suddenly break down?

I would guess it's your video card, and i don't think monitor problems are related to the power supply.
Overheating is rare with desktops (as far as i know?) unless you've added a ton of nice parts to it or something. Shutting down could be related to the power supply i guess, but that still seems weird.

I really really doubt that your power supply is messing with your video card. From what I know that video card doesn't require an extra power cord or anything to use it, and unless you bought the lowest possible power supply any stock one can handle it, so it could have possibly just gone bad. Parts in computers don't take very long to go bad if they were defective or over used etc. If your computer can still turn on, just not your monitor, and its still got power due to the standby light being on, it has to be a problem with your video card. If you unplug it from your computer does it bring up the blue screen that says no signal? Does your computer have an integrated graphics card that it came with, or did you build it and put the 7600 in? If it has the integrated, try it, if not, looks like you'll have to buy a new one.
