You’re quick to put him in line, as you grab him by his shirt and shout at him that his friends are doomed already. You tell him that you’ve both been bitten and it’s a matter of time before you turn into one of those walking corpses. But he won’t listen. He’s way too euphoric and won’t listen to reasons. So you’re only choice is to punch him in the face hard enough for him to black out for some minutes.
You’re quick to drive to the clinic. You arrive in a couple of minutes after the fight on your car happened. Your guest has regained consciousness. You both leave the car and enter the clinic. It’s empty, sadly.
You start searching for anything, nevertheless. The guy you picked up some minutes ago, is lying on the floor, sit down. He looks drowsy and his head is turning purple. With haste, you rush him and ask him what’s wrong. Looks like he’s passing out. Suddenly, he draws out of his pocket a small bag with white powder inside. He proceeds to inhale it. Great, you picked up a junkie. You tell him that should any problem arise, he should shout to warn about any possible dangers.
You pull out your gun, and head forward into the clinic. It’s pretty quiet, so it must be a good sign; zombies moan (most of the time) so you feel a little safer. While you look for pharmacy, you run into a room that is locked. You try to force the lock, but it’s futile. You decide that you’ll try ramming the door down with your shoulder. But as you step back to grab impulse, a trembling voice asks:
-IS… IS SOMEONEE THERRE??-.
-YES! YES! I’m a survivor! Please, I need help! - you answer as quickly as you can.
-Are you alone? Is it safe? - the voice replies.
-Yes! Please open up- you say.
The door unlocks. The doctor behind it opens it and greets you with relief.
You tell the doctor that you’ve been bitten by one of the zombies while trying to escape an ambush and mention the junkie that you picked up in the road, and that you need any help you can get. The doctor quickly checks on your bloody foot, and asks about the bandage that you have on. You tell him that you went with a friend of yours that was studying medicine, and she cleaned your wound and put a bandage on it. After he takes the bandage off and looks carefully at the wound, he puts it on again. He finds nothing helpful, as it is just a bite.
You also tell him that you’ve been feeling quite drowsy and with headaches. The doc proceeds to give you some aspirins for the headaches, and tells you to drink them with a soda, to get yourself stimulated. You ask him if he could analyze your blood trying to find something with whatever is wrong with your body, possibly a cure. He tells you that there is nothing he can do, because he’ll need a day at least to get any data that could help. Then you tell him to join you and flee together to Alma’s house, which is safe for the moment.
Unfortunately, he’s too scared to go outside. You try to persuade him to join you but it is futile. You even show him your gun but he tells you that he’s rather fine there, after all, he has a lot of stock. However the doctor agrees to analyze your blood if you could get him safe to the lab.
You don’t think for more than a moment and agree. You both head towards the lab with extreme carefulness.
Before you reach the lab, you hear strange noises behind you. Your adrenaline goes up fucking fast and you draw your gun fast. The doc panics as well. Both of you shout if there is someone there. The face of the junkie appears. You’re relieved for a second… because next second the junkie is knocked down by a zombie and bitten in the neck. You shoot the zombie twice, but neither shot lands on the target.
The zombie ignores you, because he’s too busy eating his prey. You and the doc decide to run for the lab. When you reach it you lock yourselves inside. In the meantime, you cool down. The doctor subtracts some of your blood and tells you to return tomorrow. You ask him if he’s going to be alright alone, and he nods. Now you have to get out of the clinic.
You leave carefully the lab, and draw your gun again. You start feeling really drowsy, and headaches start to become stronger. When you turn around the corner, you see the junkies body covered in blood, and the zombie missing. You become frightened. You’re afraid that you might get surprised by the zombie if you continue your way out, so you think about finding another exit. The problem is that your senses are wearing down, because every second that passes you become more and more sleepy, and headaches make you unable to concentrate and think correctly. You think that it would be best if:
