I read about Cliff Young just a few weeks ago. So inspiring! It is also a lesson in conformity, because you will notice that all the top athletes at the time were copying each other, and they thought Cliff's strategy was ridiculous - everyone did. But now everyone runs it the way Cliff did.
How might we see the same sort of scenarios in science, philosophy, politics, etc? What are we over-looking?

Reading about him, or me trying to explain it really won't do it justice. I would strongly suggest getting his book 'Disturbing the Universe'. It is essentially an autobiography.

I recommend reading a full biography, because the Wikipedia article only covers his theoretical work. He's considered the most influential military thinker since Sun Tzu and he was pretty much like a real life Maverick.
Because Boyd rarely met a general he couldn't offend, many senior officers
today dismiss him as a man who had a flair for math, but who otherwise was
an unprofessional officer unworthy of promotion and incapable of making any contribution to the military.
