Before I begin, I'm sorry for going blog-crazy about my iccup. I find that it helps me stay motivated to write down my progress as I go along.
If I remember correctly, I started my Iccup journey 9 days ago, on January 20. Since then, I've been constantly pushing myself to train hardcore, taking little breaks and gaming like a madman. It kinda reminds me of lyncanthropes: regular, working people by day, rampaging monsters under the full moon by night in the sun-forsaken BW ladder. So far, the fruit of my efforts ripened up to B-. That's right, folks, I am B-! Even though the B ranks have been somewhat bastardized thanks to the widespread and self-proclaimed A+ rankings, I must say it feels pretty good.
Anyway, I feel the need to fill in a few more details, so here goes. First of all, I find that joining a ladder mid-season isn't necessarily the best time to let the ranks settle themselves out. By this, I mean that sometimes, fighting a C rank player can mean fighting an A- rank player (my 0-4 pvz series vs the korean zerg eunyou). Mainly, I found that climbing up the ranks merely means a more consistent difficulty rather than an upspike in skills. However, I have yet to enter the B rank fray. I will certainly update my progress (if any) as I begin my games tomorrow night. Expect my blog to appear by the end of this week, since I feel my rank will fluctuate between C+ and B- for a while.
It's funny...mass gaming on a ladder like this. I haven't given this much effort to BW for a long time. The last time I remember having this much motivation was after I had played and lost against the one BW player known as a legend around my area. Now, I'm picking myself up again to find how far my skills can reach. Where will this take me? I have no idea. Do I plan on finding out? Absolutely.

Congrats!
BTW, did anybody else read the title and think that ilovezil had become a mod?

Lol yeah I thought you became a mod too. Man I really wanted to do the same thing this season before I don't have internet in less than a months time. I got to like C with a similar record as you and probably coulda made to it to B- (I've never been past C) but now I'm not motivated enough to do it with the start of university so close

I wish I had your fortitude/skill, had enough of PvP yet

He was a guy named Royce (not royce-x17, royce[a2], etc). It was back in 2002 or 2003, and I played bgh with a few guys in my area. I thought they were godly at first, then they mentioned this "hyung" who could easily own them. I thought to myself "NO WEI!!!" cuz their 12 pool fast sunk bgh skills were so gosu to me back then.
Note: These were the same guys who taught me how to use an engineering bay over goliaths so I couldn't manually target them...and I thought it was gosu -_-.
I ended up joining a random public game on east one day, when "Royce" entered the game. I went apeshit berserk, messaged him, asked him to game. He accepted; I was expecting the game to be on BGH, so I got all prepared. Sadly, it was on LT, but whatever. It's a game with the legend, I'm up for it. I think I ended up placing one rine on the edges of my base to "prevent drops", sieged one tank on my ramp, and dropped like 10 minutes into the game with 1 tank, 1 gol, 2 rines. Needless to say, I got owned not too much longer, with an army of goons/zeals/temps that I had never thought was possible to attain on LT. He had about 8 bases. That was my true turning point in bw; I don't think I would've ever gotten so much into this game had it not been for that fateful meeting. I ended up watching the replay, analyzing what he did, and tried to apply it to my games. Magically, it worked. I ended up owning random public east and it got to my head that now I was on his level. Anyway, I'm jabbering. I didn't mean for it to get this long.
