For the past few months, I've noticed many people that have surpassed me in skill but have played for a much shorter time. I have played for 2 years, and started on melee maps. Others, play on BGH for 3 years or so, and then play melee for a year and become better than me.
I have come to realize that my game knowledge is enormously lacking. Each game for the past few months have been blind macro, micro, and attack-move. My game understanding isn't completely non-existent, but it definitely has some gaping holes. My mechanics are actually decent when I know what I'm doing. But when an opponent does something I don't know how to react to, I spend too much energy thinking about what to do, get flustered, and even my mechanics fall apart.
So in my blog, I will post VODs of pro-games. Underneath them, I will post a chunk of text that will include my analysis of the game.
TL.net, if you would be so kind - please critique me on my game analysis, and add/correct things to which I have written. I think the feedback for these analysises will help me immensely. Thank you so much

Play me!!!!!
~I'm sure TL.net would be glad to help, just post some VODs and your analysis. Don't try too hard on it, try only watching it once and writing down notes as you go along, and going back later and completing the scentences etc. If you watch it too many times you will be able to pay more attention and it won't really show your skill. GL!

I memorized all stats of buildings/units (available @ SCC) when I first started playing BW. Got them printed, read them when I was bored.
I was in grade 6, so plenty of time.

Kekeke, you seem to get a little lost when playing against non-standard stuff. Just play more and don't limit your choice of builds. For instance, forge FE is not nearly the only way to play PvZ etc. There are many successful ways, actually.

I have a 5 page word document about this I've been working on for about two weeks. I'll post it when it's done in the strategy forum and hopefully it can help. I'll also keep an eye on this blog to help too !_!

Everyone learns at his or her own pace. Just keep practicing and watching various replays.
To expand upon my last suggestion, watch replays that are longer than 20 minutes. Simple builds such as 9 pool or 9/10 dual gate openings are relatively easy to time and use; thus, you may know what you're doing for such builds in early game. What you're looking for is late game management. Personally, I believe learning late game play is crucial, assuming you and your opponent are relatively even'ed out by late game.
I know early-mid game play is the important part that actually leads to the late game play, but it won't teach you the full skill range such as re-hotkeying mass units, dropping, expo management, upgrade timings, map control, tech/unit choice, and how to manipulate these factors to ultimately crush your opponent. Try practicing a few games with the mindset of playing even against your opponent until late game. Try this for each matchup and tell me how it works out.

O_O.
Sera, I'll be happy to play you anytime, and analyze the replay afterwards ad nauseum. We've definitely had some gg's in the past, and I have no doubt that once you get over this minor obstacle you'll be rapin' A+ ICCUPs left, right and centre.

And to OP, although I am quite the horrible player, what little advances I have made have been through analysis of my losses with the players that beat me.
