Bleh, I'm a bit late with this new dedication I have of getting better at this goddamn game. So I basically went from playing this game 5 hours a week to 5 hours a day. I play at night from about 8PM EST - 12~1AM EST.
Tonight, I will be going into day 3 of ICCUP. I suppose I'll update my progress every three days. My goal with this session is discover ways of improving beyond my limit, which I believe I've reached. I already have ideas on how to improve, but I'll break my conclusion at the end of my ICCUP session. I hope to help others, who are trying to improve, to give ideas on how to improve.
NOTE: I know I'm not a known player, or even "good" by some people's standards, but that doesn't mean I can't contribute to this self-project. This is my blog, meaning it's my own little get-to-do section. If you think I'm not skilled enough, I certainly won't stop you from telling me that I suck. T_T
Day 1: 8-1. Rank; D
Notes: First day. I'm basically trying to move up the ranks to where the bigger fish swim. Picking any opponent I found, I'd say I moved up fairly quickly. Couldn't hit D+ though.
Day 2: 21-6. Rank; C-
Notes: I was actually disappointed with myself. Seeing as how I'm the type of guy who absolutely loathes losing, I found myself unable to enjoy the end result of today's session for receiving five more losses than the day before. Oh well, I better get used to it. Soon enough, I'm sure I'll be bathing in losses. Besides that my session today was satisfactory.
Day 3: 29-12. Rank; C-
Notes: Well, I tried to get in some pvz games, but Iccup seems to have a lack of zerg players at the C- range. I got in two games, one that I lost to a fast ling zerg in under 3 minutes, and a decent pvz game where I had won due to good cannon placement.
Besides that, I had straight-out series sessions with a few gamers. I engaged in four pvt games against this korean terran who just wrecked my protoss with ease. Honestly, I had never before seen a skill level as the one he displayed. His timing , building placement, macro, and micro introduced me to a level of PvT I had never before faced. After the series, I tried to talk to him using the little korean I knew. I think he said he was using iccup as training for some important tourney (-_-). Anyway, he gave me a few bits of advice that I hardly understood and strained to keep up with thanks to my equally newbie korean skills.
Next, I had a five game series against someone called Prada[s.g]. Now, this fella was an interesting one. He acted and played like an east x17 gamer. All games were pvp; I won 4-1 and all throughout, he kept on talking the familiar east talk with the usual "I haven't played in months", "You're not even a known player", and the winner: "you suck, I'm better than you" (After getting 0-4'ed.) He won the last game due to his single zealot killing about 4-5 of my probes. I was still able to outmicro him in unit battles, but eventually lost to the dts he produced. He went berserk over the win. If you're familiar with channel clan x17 on east, you can probably imagine exactly what happened
Anyway, that's it for day 3. The most important part of today's session was the fact that I realized that I SUCK. I always had a part of me that said "I'm good, I just suck compared to gosu/known gamers." But no. I SUCK. Period. I felt it while gaming; my intuitions were lacking, my buildings sloppy, my micro horrid, my macro garbage, my multitasking shot, and overall that I just plain suck. Even during the games vs prada, I felt that I was watching two protoss newbies from US east public games duking it out in first person view. I'll ponder over this shocking revelation as I go to sleep figuring out what I'm doing wrong.

Fuck I wish I had this determination. I always had dreams of trying my hardest one season of a ladder and finding my absolute ceiling, but I usually burn out by C+
Keep this updated :D!

I guess I'll be continuing my iccup blog, then :o Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll try to get more in-depth with my notes in the future. For now, I find that most D rank games aren't worth really getting into, so excuse my current lack of details.
As for reps, if you guys want, I'll upload the games I've played on iccup. So far, my games haven't been that great, however...

not to be mean, but you dont even play pvz? how is that an accurate determination of your potential and skill?

Ah yes, I haven't played many pvz games yet. I'll have to work on that tonight, so hang in there. I actually have much more confidence in my pvz/pvp than pvt, so it should be good times. I'd say my bigger problem lies within the inability to play the most recent maps such as blue storm and katrina. Check by tomorrow; I'll update this blog entry hopefully with plenty of pvz games.

I hope I don't burn out as well. The reason why I'm so motivated right now is because I just hate losing. As I find myself getting my ass handed to me over and over by random players, I get this really unsatisfied feeling. At least if I keep gaming to find my skill level, I'll have the fact that I gave my best. Thanks for your encouragement, Mr. Chill

sorry, i sounded mean in that. Im just frustrated by the guys who only play 1 matchup on the map of their choice, vs the player/record of their choice. They usually leave if they feel like they get a bad position or if they scout early and dont like positions or the opponents strat. It annoys me severely, so i was just lashing, im sorry! GL

Keep it up e-nig ^_^
I'll try to spot you online when you rank up more :p

I'm trying to get better too ... I admire you! However, the one difference I guess is I don't mind losing ... but you're already far ahead of me. I feel good about a loss as long as I learn something because I have SO MUCH to learn.
I have kind of told myself that I need to get to 100 losses on East before I start presenting all my problems in the strategy thread ... I have so many but I need to prove my determination to myself. (I am at 30 losses right now) and hopefully, some wins will be in there too. However, I played one game against a fellow with 17 APM, so the skill level is very random on East and West.
I've only played on game on ICCup, and I lost decisively, but I feel I used some units very well. Maybe I'll do more if I feel very ballsy.
Good luck, I know you can do it! And I hope I can too...

Stop being so conscious of what other people think. It's in the blog section, so do whatever the fuck you want, it's your blog after all
That said, I'm jealous of your ability/willpower
If I lose 3 games in a row, no matter how good the opponents were I'm gonna be so pissed off that i won't be able to play sc for the next couple weeks.
