NO IT'S NOT!
Basically what's going on in my life is applications right now. I want to go to college with girlfriend (we're looking to take the same major) and I can't tell them outright (yes, they don't know I have one, nor the other like 3000 before her). Even if I did, they would just kick my ass with a chair or something. My intended major is pharmacy and business as a "backup" major.
ANYWAYS, my dad suggested this GREAT list of colleges, ALL WITHOUT PHARMACY! :O He also lovingly gave me the great idea that what college I want to go to is NOT THE ONE FOR ME!
1. JOHNS HOPKINS (OH GREAT ONE) 2. BOSTON COLLEGE (GREATER ONE)
My list of colleges: (aims are set low, sue me)
1. Northeastern University 2. St. John's University 3. U. of Mich 4. U. of Connecticut 5. Purdue 6. Rutgers
My dad also lovingly told me that if I went to any of these colleges he would cut me off financially and socially.
Awesome, eh?

Rutgers Pharmacy is amazing lol. What is he talking about?? St. John's and Northeastern also have a good pharmacy program from what I hear. But Rutgers pharm is a good choice.

This isn't going to help, and it's probably too late, but it's probably in your best interest to come up with a college list separately from your gf's and then compare later.
I'm noob at pharmacy, doesn't that require a master's to go practice? Then couldn't you just do a major that's close enough to pharmacy for your undergraduate? It's not ideal but if your dad can't be made to reason, it's an option.

Like 50% of parents say that, and then they don't do anything to you. Also though you'll deny it etc I think that you should put where your academic interests lie ahead of your high school girlfriend because it's unlikely you'll last.
|
Oh the list wasn't because of my girlfriend, actually.
I had this list down even before we even decided to compare lists -_-
I always thought that it would be sort of a 4+ year bonus going to the same school with her again
But goddamn, thinking about it I've been going to the same middle school, high school, and if this shit goes down, college too with my girlfriend :O
edit: BTW we haven't been dating for 6 years -_-

And if anybody's interested in my dad's personality, he's very, very headstrong. And he also likes to get his way, all the time.
Dad wanting his way + Korean fob traditions = gg to me
edit: And when the FUCK did I get 3007 posts? damn

My dad's logic is that if I fuck up Pharmacy Rutgers will kill me with its bad overall academical image.

Get to it.
However. Your perception of your dad is most likely distorted. Maybe after you do it your way he will finally respect you and consider u an adult.

You do realize that listing a bunch of respectable schools and saying that you're aiming low makes you look like a pretentious asshole, right? I'm not trying to be a dick in any way but I graduated with about 5 kids who went to Harvard and it looks like my sister is going there too. Chances are they won't make any more money than I will in the long run. Undergraduate school is only marginally important. If you have motivation, intelligence, and people skills you will do well even if you go to a school as bad as *GASP* U. Mich.

This sounds a lot like the movie, Dead Poets Society.
Go argue passionately at your father for 30 minutes, wear a crown of thorns and shoot yourself in the head with a revolver in the basement.
+ Show Spoiler +To be serious though, I thought on the left, the blog title was going to be My life is awful

I notice you want to go to Northeastern - whereabouts do you live? Thats right down the street from me

iNCuBuS_ you double posted :O
Anyways, I'm living in New York City currently and I think moving to Boston for college would be a nice change.

Cutting you off is something that is going to happen eventually, the earlier it happens, the better you get at life.
I wish you luck. =)

bluz has a point. Take a loan and tell him to piss off. YOu shouldn't let others dictate your life. Just don't take the loan if youre not 100% sure that's what you wanna do ;]

I considered Hopkins for grad school but.....no. Seriously your dad is too caught up in the image of academic supremacy. Those schools you listed are solid and respected institutions. Especially if you go there for a program that is one of the tops in the country its like your going for an ivy league because the program is so good.

I'm not really liking the girl situation. What if she leaves man?
In any case, there's nothing wrong with your list. I don't see anything wrong with St. Johns or Purdue, or anything really. Undergrade is not that important I think unless you go to like a really crap school like UNM or something.
