As many of you may or may not know, I lead the BW team on Teamliquid, and have done so for almost 3 years now. I make the final decision regarding what gets covered and how, as well as take care of formatting, editing, covering, and writing standalone articles. I also take care of a lot of miscellaneous tasks that only a few are aware of. Essentially, it's my job to manage the team, make sure things go out on time, and that our coverage continues as smoothly as possible.
Looking back at all the years as BW editor-in-chief, I'm pretty proud of what we've managed to accomplish for such a hardcore community. Even during dire times, every BW staff member has kept giving it their all. We've managed to keep our coverage quality high, and we have even increased our output, covering 2 tournaments simultaneously while providing other articles such as a power rank, map analysis, and interviews. I've also personally sacrificed sleep, and a lot of time for a game that I'm madly in love with, but it's not something that I've ever regretted either. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that you are helping keep a community going with your work.
However, this is the reason I write to you today. Come 2019, I have decided to step down from my role as EiC, aka retire due to other obligations. I have thought long and hard about this before making this decision. With ASL currently on hiatus, and the prospect of some top BW players leaving to the military sooner than later, the timing was right for my exit. In my stead, we can hopefully get someone who's even more motivated, and can provide more content for the community. At this point, I have also started to identify with my online id which is both interesting and bizzare haha. The last tournament that I will lead coverage on will be KSL2, which is currently in the Ro16, and has had good games. Hopefully, Last manages to win this one too in order to validate my last article!
There may be another article or two in the works, so if you're someone who appreciates these articles, look forward to reading them one last time. I haven't decided what I'll be doing afterwards, and may just fade into the shadows as I once did. Maybe I'll give casting a try for the fun of it, but my days of leading staff, and potentially writing, will be over.
I will write one more blog on this closer to the actual quitting date. With all that said, thanks for the good memories everyone.
BW fighting! ~
