As my last blog showed i am a fairly big fan of kpop, some would even say koreaboo. This also leads me to see other korean artists who chose to take a different path outside the idol world. Over the last few weeks i came across one very special one and wanted to share this finding with some people here, because why not.
First off i am not musically trained so i cannot do any real analysis myself (though i watched and read some analysis specifically cause of her now), but just listening to her voice and performances you will understand why i think she might be one of the very best voices out there right now. She mostly covers already existing songs, but the arrangements are phenomenal so even if you already think to know the orginal it is worth a listen.
So without further ado i will now post three of my favorite performances i have seen so far (though realistically they are all great and deciding on which three to post was almost undoable)
Is it possible to improve a song by whitney houston when you cover it? Typically one would say no to this question but after listenign to this version i am not so sure anymore.
This is a song about someone losing his soulmate and preparing to see them again in the afterlife, while i don't understand any korean she still sings with so much emotion and dare i say it perfection to make me tear up a bit.
Another very emotional song and also a stamina showcase par excellence
I hope some of you guys appreciated me posting these, personally i admire her and basically watch some performance of her daily, she brings everything you could wanna want in a singer together into one person, basically perfect technique no matter if head voice, mixed voice, low register or high, incredible runs and all of that while singing with so much passion and emotion which really is imo the most important part.
So yeah, hopefully at least one of you can get some happiness from her performances, i know i do, cheers!
