Broodwar 4th Race Ideas
I made this post as kind of a proof of concept that the RTS genre is not dead yet and that there are still forgotten new old ideas out there.
They say the RTS genre is dead and that they don't make RTS games anymore. However, I remember a lot of really good old RTS games. So I reviewed the units the old games had in them such as Dune 2, Emperor Battle for Dune, SC2, WC3, Grey Goo, and the Command and Conquer series. I also took a look at the mods and total conversions of those games. The fan communities made mods with new units I looked into. Some of the fan made mods had incredibly creative new units. Mental Omega and Rise of the Reds are just 2 examples of Command and Conquer mods that are even better than the original games they were based on.
If I made a new race for Broodwar: New Race called Terran Confederacy
=Ground Units= Sniper Jetpack Infantry Bomb Truck Flame Tank Stealth Tank (Only visible while attacking) Repair Vehicle Cloaked Harvester/Miner Battle Tortoise (super Tank) Flak Tank Refractor (Causes incoming attacks to be reflected) Devastator (tank that self-destructs when it dies) Buzzsaw (tank with a saw to mow down infantry) Collosus Shade (invisible ground scout with no attack) Observation Van (ground detector) Ambulance Wisp (miner that self-destructs) Devil Probe (good to scout- has far range for harassing workers)
=Air Units= Zeppelin (like the air equivalent of a Reaver or Ultralisk) Repair Drone Gunship Banshee (cloaked) Ornithopter (anti-air Drone) Antiair Mine Kamikaze Plane Logistics Blimp (gives minimap sight but no attack) Surveillance Drone (makes noise if enemy nearby) Void Ray Flame Plane (Good for harassing workers/Infantry) Stealth Bomber (Cloaked unless attacking) Propaganda Blimp (Spellcaster to buff own units from Rise of the Reds Mod)
=Structures= Tank Bunker Repair Bay Grand Cannon (Useable only once every 10min or so). Focus Beam Turret (Like a Void Ray from SC2) Hospital Mobile Headquarters Mobile Barracks/Factory/Starport Supply Truck (Garrisonable supply provider) Mana Battery (Replinishes magic for spellcasters) Air Repair Bay Gate Watch Tower (Makes noise that incoming enemies nearby) Psychic Tower (Let's you mind control/good for islands) Flame Tower (good early game against Lings/Zlots)

At first I was excited when I saw the title, but this was poorly thought out.
1) Zerg has an all of 12 units, and terran has 15... Now you want to introduce a race with 31 units. 2) Choice of race is poor, why have 2 races that have such a similar theme. Maybe some plant themed race, elemental, if you go for human type race, maybe go much more cyborg, maybe runaway AI race. Either way, it'll require its lore to be built up. 3) Your naming of the units/buildings isn't creative - why is everything called a tank, a tower, a bay, or turret.
I think without any lore, personal attachment to units, and units that are treated as a bunch of numbers rather than an entity... An RTS becomes an exercise in math and dexterity that isn't fun. That's why games like chess are successful, because when discussing your strategies, it's like you are talking about an actual war battle... How you'll take the middle, block off the left side flank blah blah. Games like AoE honestly weren't very good imo, but just the desire to build all the units, upgrading through technology, and have a real historic battle made it very exciting.
You took everything that's bad from other RTS and tried to put it into BW.

Peruvians should be a race. Is basically the terran race, but your supply is directly tied to ping, so as you create more units the game lags more and more until you max out at 200/200!

I would add the transracial race, which has units like zerglings that shit spidermines, and reaver scvs.

Looks like someone was drunk and combined a unit list from SC2 and Command and Conquer.
