Competed in my first Powerlifting meet in October, where I managed a nice PR on the Squat and Deadlift - 180kg/405lb for both
Loved the atmosphere here, my first attempt of 170kg (national record) was redlighted because of depth, but it was really easy. Decided to yolo and go for 180, and luckily I got it. Stapled under 185kg on my fifth attempt.
Hated the Deadlift for awhile. 4 plates/405lb eluded me for so long, and I'm so happy to get this in my meet. Still gotta learn how to use a belt for DLs though, if anybody has advice that'd be great. Feels like I lose power when I use a belt.
Shortly after the meet my left glute started acting up, and I couldn't squat without pain. So all I could do was focus on the Deadlift, but life's been getting in the way and I can't really train consistently. Nevertheless, I've brought up my poverty Bench (which numbers I'll still keep secret), and got a 10kg PR on the Deadlift - 190kg/420lbs. I'll be attempting 200kg/440lbs this Saturday. Grip failed at the lockout, but I'll count it as a PR:
Managed to just get back into Squatting last week, managed a top double of 165kg/365lbs, which is okay I guess. 92% of my previous max is decent.
Anyway, can't wait for the next year. It's been a pretty good year since I started lifting.
Goals for 2016:
Squat: 220kg/485lbs
Bench: Something substantial
Deadlift: 230kg/505lbs
