It has been a while since we have updated you all on the Bacon Blog. We're coming up on the 10th episode of the Archon Super Series this weekend and for the milestone we just wanted to give you all a breakdown of what it took to get us this far.
Getting started in event planning with no experience, no references, and few connections made things difficult. We knew that we had a good idea, the second we heard about Archon Mode we knew that this HAD to be a thing and we jumped on the possibility the second we saw that LotV fan alpha was a thing.
Twitter was absolutely the biggest resource that we had available to us and we used it as much as possible. We approached many different pros on twitter before actually getting our first guest (ROOT SuperNova) to sign up, that approach was met with a lot of "maybe" and "no" along the way, but SuperNova was the first person to give us a solid yes. We really appreciate SuperNova being the first person on the show, he trusted us when many people looked the other way. It's understandable because pro gamers have a long history of being burned on payments but it meant a lot for the show to have someone who was willing to come on and give us a try. Getting SuperNova on the show was a giant step forward and gave us the momentum we needed to get where we are today.
Some Things we Learned from Doing the Series
- 2 out of 3 pros who Susan asks to be her friend said yes, we hope that this trend continues!
- If you ask MC to be your friend he will likely tell you "I don't know who you are"
- It is a lot easier to get people to take you seriously when you lead with "WE HAVE MONEY FOR YOU!"
- Kane is considering a side job in the adult entertainment business under the alias "Kandy Kane"
- Most eSports organizations are amazing to work with and will do a lot to help your event succeed. Most notable in this regard are Axiom, ROOT, and Acer who were incredibly helpful.
- PartinG has no patience for people below his skill level :p
- MC thinks you all need to practice.............a lot
- Ravagers are an amazing unit
- Not having a reputation in the industry makes getting sponsors very difficult, we have now invested $800 in this project out of pocket to have pros come on the show but are actively searching for a sponsor.
Coming Up!
Today we have reached a new milestone and have gotten a KeSPA player to agree to come on the show. We can't wait for this weekend's episode of the Archon Super Series and we also hope that getting access to KeSPA players will be easier from here on in. We always want to bring you games with the best of the best in the business and KeSPA players often represent that highest level of play. Make sure to check out this weekends Archon Super Series, its going to be great! Info is here
What we need from you!
We often wonder what it will take for the Archon Super Series to reach a wider audience. We think that we are offering a great show to the StarCraft community but the viewership never seems to get as high as we expect.
We want as much feedback from you as possible about the event, what are we doing wrong, what would you like to see, what didn't you like, etc. It would be really helpful if you could give us any feedback or advice possible and we would appreciate it greatly!
If you haven't seen an episode of A.S.S before this is the VOD from our latest episode featuring Axiom's Crank
Thank you all in advance for your feedback and comments and a very special thank you to all of the people who have been supporting the Archon Super Series. Above all we have had a lot of fun putting these events on and we hope that you can enjoy watching and playing in them as much as we enjoy hosting them!
