I made my TL account to start editing liquipedia back in November 2013, made 4 edits (3 typo corrections and one change to a standings table that was reverted because it was wrong), went dormant for 3 weeks, made 2 more minor edits, and stopped editing for another month and a half.
Eventually, this January, I started getting really into Liquipedia. At first I did a lot of live editing, which is harder to do because on sc2 we have Yhamm, and he always gets the edit first. Within my first 20 edits, I learned a key skill for editing Liquipedia while creating a page for the Kapersky Arena: to copy other, similar pages when I needed a feature. I did a lot of live editing for the Deimos Esports Team League, because that one was on at NA times only (when most live editors are asleep and I have a chance to play with it), and learned how brackets worked that way.
Not long after I was autopromoted to editor (March 21st), I got my silver coin (March 31st). I'm the type of person who has an opinion about everything and access to the LP contributors forum gave me a place to share all my always-brilliant insights. I guess other people thought that my opinions were useful too because it didn't take me long after that to become a reviewer, despite a lack of really meaningful edits. I've started doing some bigger projects now though - standardizing results pages (thanks Josh_Video!) and the templates on them (even though Chapa made it), and trying to help out with the beginning of Semantic MediaWiki integration on the wiki (Clubfan does the actual coding though, I'm just the ScumSlave).
I also recently started hanging out in the IRC channel, which is where I've really gotten to know the people who work on liquipedia all the time. Also they've brought me over to the dark side (other liquipedias), where I've been helping out with Smash image licensing and Dota live-updating. Shoutouts to everyone from the channel who I haven't mentioned yet: Elyvilon, fomal, FO-nTTaX, fusefuse, Knatterking, Noam, NovemberstOrm (who has betrayed us all with his hammer), Oddyesy, Nixer, PhiLtheFisH, pPingu, prech, RavenWhispers, salle, SuperHoffman, Swampflare and whoever I inevitably forgot, for being such a fun and helpful group.
Honestly, I've just hit 3k edits and gotten my gold coin and I still don't feel like I do that much for the wiki. I mean that puts me rank 64 among all accounts (although really it's 61 cause of bots and unmerged accounts). There are so many people out there who are so much more dedicated or faster or more skilled with templates than me that I feel like I'm out of place sometimes. I'm sure this is a feeling shared by lots of newer contributors. That doesn't mean what people like you and me do isn't important though - everyone can contribute, and I really encourage you to. While Liquipedia is generally pretty up to date, there are definitely things that could use work. Just pick a page (we have a random page button) and look for errors, or watch a tournament and add its results. And if you ever want to help but don't know where to start or if you just want to hang out, hop on IRC!
