"If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not you'll find excuse."
These were today's objectives:
Despite going to bed early, I woke up really late and by the time I had "breakfast" and got ready for the day it was 1pm. A whole three hours behind schedule. But out of the things I was willing to sacrifice, due to time, the exercise wasn't one.
I followed the same format as yesterday Core->Run->Abs->Run, but due to the amount of reps in the flutter kick section I broke them up into sets of 20 and took breaks in between. The core continued to cause little trouble although the push ups were tough as always. I also made sure to properly pace myself during the runs to reflect the extra weight I was carrying and the heat.
What proved the toughest was yet again the flutter kicks, they really do burn. But broken up into sets of 20 they are manageable and I can really feel them working my abs.
The days diet consisted of three meals:
- Breakfast- A bowl of fruit and fiber cereal with a added sliced banana.
- Lunch- Baked samon with rice and toast to bulk it out.
- Dinner- 250g of yogurt with honey for flavoring.
So today I cooked fish for the first time and it was in fact really easy. Neila's recipe is really easy to follow, all I really had to do was flavor it, rap it in tin foil and chuck it in the oven. I did slightly overcook the rice though.
Heeding advice about my calorie intake I added three pieces of fruit in between meals. For the beginning of next week I will be seeking the advice of one of my friends who will be able to give me proper advice on the amount of food I should be eating.
Although Neila's recipes are really awesome, she does little to explain what someone of my build and exercise amount needs to eat to properly make use of the exercise I am doing.
For those of you who want to try the fish meal here is the cooking guide: http://neilarey.com/recipes/baked-salmon.html
So I was wrong about the season change, so I may be able to reach masters next season if I play well and so far I would say I am playing fairly well.... in two match-ups at least.
Due to the time constraints and having a important exam in two days I only played 10 games and went 6-4. Overall I played really solid in my ZvP and ZvT's. My play in ZvZ was awful, at least initially.
I only played one ZvP and my opponent opted for a fast three base play, I scouted it well, hit all my benchmarks and crushed him with a play that involved going heavy roach into muta's.
I also got to play four ZvT's I reverted to my old build and went 3-1. My scouting was lackluster which almost cost me many games, its something I must improve on. The three wins were solid the loss was a due to a stupid mistake.
As previously mentioned my ZvZ's were super bad. I reverted to my old opener which worked well, every opponent opened muta, kept restricting my economy and destroying my maxed armies. I did improve towards the end winning my last two ZvZ's, I will have to work on the matchup more but its nothing I can't fix.
Overall I was happy with the progress I made, I am happy with all my builds and I have identified my areas of weakness. Hopefully I will be able to push for masters over the next couple of days.
Game Summary and Points of Improvement
Vs Protoss (1-0)
- Focus more on map vision and control (overlords +lings).
- Improve viper control.
Vs Terran(3-1)
-Improve overlord spread (map vision).
- Remeber to always scout with a overlord at 6-7 minutes to identify two base plays.
Vs Zerg (2-3)
- Make sure I always overseer scout after reaching lair.
- Add lots of static defense to aid with muta/ling defense.
- Add inf when faced against ling/muta.
- Practice going roach/hydra vs ling/muta builds.
No stream was scheduled for today.
Hopefully tomorrow I will wake up at a reasonable time so I can get more done. I have a tone of revision to do so hopefully I can get it all done in the day so the stream isn't affected. Furthermore I am currently looking into ways to expand the reach of this blog, if you guys have any ideas let me know. I was thinking of creating accounts on other major blog sites to begin a very similar "Fitness and Gaming blog". Anyway as always thanks for reading and keep being awesome!
FAQ
Q: What is this blog about?
A: This blog is about self improvement in two specific fields, health and gaming. I aim to try and show the community how they can improve themselves in and out of game by maintaining a positive mentally. I hope I will encourage others to take up some form or exercise and improve themselves.
Q: Why are you doing this?
A: It has been proven that your physical well being directly affects how you perform mentally. This of course will affect game-play skill. Another goal is to encourage others to do the same and engage in exercise to improve themselves.
Q: What do you do on your live stream?
A: On my stream I play and commentate Starcraft and MTGO , I aim to help weaker players by explaining my decision making and looking over replays. I also aim to improve myself to the point where I can compete on a high level.
Q: Can I get involved?
A: Yes!!! I encourage everyone to start the journey to self improvement today. Find a exercise regime which looks suitable for you and get started! Also be sure to update me on your progress.
Q: How can I support you?
A: Simply watching and following my stream helps me a great deal.
