My teacher also agreed to help me with composition, since that's my number one love, but I guess I should talk about that first since that's the first thing I typed up in the title.
So I've been composing for a while, I never really did anything formal [up until now, at least], and I started this project in 2012 which is a series of piano pieces that were supposed to tell a story. I initially wanted to finish it by summer 2014 so I could explore some ideas, but I'm going to put it aside from now and let myself develop in terms of formal things [counterpoint, voice leading, form, use of motifs, technical masteries, etc] before I return to do this project, since this project is a really, really, really big deal to me. But I'm willing to share what I wrote before I go ahead and rewrite them at some point in the future.
It's not going to sound as good as it could because it's a machine, and I still haven't gotten around to really practicing and polishing this piece yet, seeing as I might rewrite significant parts of it.

So what happened was like the first good chunk I wrote in June 2013, before I started self studying harmony and things like that. Then, I did a bit of voice leading and harmonic studies on my own/with my teacher, and then I wrote everything else (it happens around when it modulates to Ab Major, but it's really prevalent in the F minor part). I was experimenting with a lot of things, and this was what came out.

This one I wrote a bit after that one, though it was kind of forced because I was trying to be productive, but I'm kind of satisfied with how it came out. It sounds a bit too thick though, and it's really hard to play, so I'm going to rewrite it later on.
I'm working on a series of 10 Preludes for the piano, each focusing on a different aspect of composition. I'll be sure to post those when I'm done ^^
Tell me what you think about my music!
Anyway, so last time, I announced that I was participating in the Liszt Competition, and it's going really great! I started the piece in January, and I memorized the whole thing by March. I actually could have done so in two weeks but I was just being really lazy/undisciplined. Oh well. I fixed most of the technical problems - some of the tremolos are still kind of hard to play, and a lot of it just needs accuracy/refining and the awkward licks and sixths/octave runs just need more practice.
I'm also writing an original cadenza - and it is so much fun but it sounds a bit too much like Rachmaninoff lololol I need to sound more like Liszt but meh I love me my Rach ><
I'm also working on:
-Mozart k545 Mov. 1 - Allegro
-Beethoven Sonata quasi una Fantasia "Moonlight" Mov. 1
-Chopin Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2
I can play all of them no problem, but every single time I go the lesson he blows my mind again and again and there's something new to work on and I just feel like there is so much depth, and I spend the whole week practicing, evening out the hole, only to realize that I can keep digging and that there's more...
IT'S SUCH A FASCINATING PROCESS I'M LEARNING SO MUCH :D
I love it. It's wonderful. It's such a great remedy to all of my problems. I love playing the piano. The piano is my friend.
Also, I decided to start voice lessons...my first one is tomorrow. It's about a 30 minute drive from where I'm going to be, but I'm also super nervous. I've always loved singing though, and I've written so many songs that I can't sing, and I really, really want to be able to sing...ugh but I'm so nervous
Wish me luck! I'll update how it goes ><
